Xbox One Boss Phil Spencer has bought a lot of positive things ever since he transitioned to his new position.

Doesn't really give a good enough reasons to be honest. He talks about the conference like it was pure gold but it was pretty louzy at average at best.

They had games but nothing really new that would make you go out there and buy an Xbox One. It basiclly felt more like a third party conference at timea.

Halo 5, Sunset Overdrive and a few others were the only decent things at their conference

Rainbowcookie4032d ago

Still say they should have kept the gameplay reveal of sunset overdrive until e3. Would have been of better value to them.

MasterCornholio4032d ago

That's another thing that bugged me. The fact that Microsoft made all these early announcements to make room in their conference. In the end most of their early announcements showed up in the conference. What they should have done is not made the announcements and just unveiled the titles at their conference. It would have been much better that way in my opinion.

TomahawkX4032d ago

I think the kinectless sku and price drop would have been a huge bomb if they had saved it for E3. Instead they reveal it 2 weeks early killing the X1 sales for May.

Kingthrash3604032d ago

Looking at it from y'all perspective I totally agtee . I remember them saying they had too much to show so they announced and showed things early. Then turn around and show it again...misleading people to believe that they had a ton of new stuff to show. After the conference I am left with a men feeling. If they would have held off then it would had had a bigger impact.
Uncharted alone could very well win it for sony. IMO.

NatureOfLogic_4032d ago

MS E3 was not enough to convince me to buy a Xbox One. Also, anyone notice the lack of usual Xbox fanboys in this article. PM me if you're ok truefan1. I'm concerned.

nix4032d ago

they should have saved the kinectless one news for E3. that would have made up for the lack of exclusives. oh boy. and i can't believe they announced some of the games before E3... why would anyone do that?

maybe they were trying to hype the E3 but that certainly didn't go their way.

Sony will have it easy this time again... just a walk in the park. just a walk in the park. unless they show off too much of indies. i love indies but it just isn't a mega bomb news.

BG115794032d ago

The worst thing is that they lost a chance to beat Sony at E3 with a large margin. Sony comes to e3 with a lot of baggage, PS4, PS3, Vita, Psp?, morpheus and PsNow. So Sony will have little space for games.
MS could have caught a good momentum, but in the end even with the all the games, very few were interesting or really new...
One thing that I've noticed, it seems to be a rule this e3. Many of the presented games are or seem to be in a very early stage of development.

Volkama4032d ago (Edited 4032d ago )

In the interview he briefly references Crackdown 3 using the cloud for destruction.

"The destruction that Dave Jones is building using the cloud, that allows to do things on a console that have never been done before will be really special.”

So... cloud-based physics like the recent demo? Or 'just' a hosted persistent city?

This is the kind of thing I wish they would elaborate on, but maybe the crammed showpiece presentation wasn't the right place.

Mr Pumblechook4032d ago (Edited 4032d ago )

Basically Phil Spencer said the XB one's USP is 'the power of the cloud.' There is potential for how MS cloud will improve games, I'd like to see how it can do for Halo 5, but for now da Cloud offers no tangible benefits to gamers who want the best quality multi-platform games.

yellowgerbil4031d ago

their biggest mistake, and fail, is that they showed NOTHING for the 360. That is why I support Sony. They keep rolling out great games long after they move on to greener pastures, for those that are late adopters.

choujij4031d ago (Edited 4031d ago )

@ArgumentumAdPopulum

I must admit that, ironically, those trolls are part of the reason why I'm so disappointed with their conference. I was expecting some huge bombshells today to get me excited to go out and buy an Xbone. Those guys always running their mouths about bombshells and Phil Spencer bringing all the games and stuff. Nobody said those games would be multi-plats! XD

Kavorklestein4031d ago (Edited 4031d ago )

Well you seem to be forgetting the fact that Sony fans literally eat sleep and breathe information about the Xbox 1 more vigorously than Xbox 1 fans do, and downplay every single thing xbox related harsher than a Rapist with Leprosy.

You forget that if Microsoft had kept their cards close to the chest about Sunset overdrive, then people would be bitching either way.

So if Sony fans aren't gonna budge or stop being assholes no matter WHAT circumstance occurs, then I'd say, MS is better off feeding info to the hungry Xbox fans at whatever pace they deem satisfactory or appropriate.

Ya know, to entertain and excite the people who actually DO give a shit?

@yellowgerbil

Yeah, same logic I used in my comment applies to you too... If they had focused on the 360, then you douchebags would say they focused "TOO MUCH ON LAST GEN!"
Gimme a fucking break.

If NOTHING will EVER satisfy you guys, then why waste your time even THINKING about the XB1?

Go play with your Unicorn-resurrecting time machine and STFU for once if you guys can't see that "greatness awaits" for ALL gamers NOW MORE THAN EVER in the history of the world, then I'm at a loss for words.... and just because opinions and preference are factors to each of us as to what qualifies as "Greatness" doesn't mean anyone is of a lesser species or something...

With the way he was hyping the conference I expected to be flooded with a ton of amazing exclusives and new IPs. I'm actually happy that Sony isn't hyping their conference to the high heavens which means that I'll probably won't be dissapointed with it. I'm expecting to see Uncharted, The Order and maybe a new IP. If Sony does that I'll be happy.

0P-Tigrex4032d ago (Edited 4032d ago )

Gameplay from Uncharted 4, Driveclub, The Order:1886, Project Beast, Rockstar Announcement...New gameplay from The Last of Us:RM with release date. Batman:AK... and MAYBE The Last Guardian trailer/release date and i'll be content. It won't be hard to beat Microsoft's conference in my opinion. Not hard at all.

MysticStrummer4032d ago

"With the way he was hyping the conference I expected to be flooded with a ton of amazing exclusives and new IPs."

Yeah I expected to see something that Sony would have a tough time topping, just because MS is in a position with XB1 where they needed to win big, but I think the Sony folk are pretty relaxed about now.

DigitalRaptor4031d ago (Edited 4031d ago )

@ MysticStrummer

Completely agreed.

Sony are likely grinning right now, because although it wasn't a bad conference, it was NOTHING like Phil or his minions were convincing people it would be. Absolutely nothing like that. It was underwhelming to say the least.

The ball is now in Sony's court.

They can either relax and shift things around and have a good E3 to match Microsoft's. OR they can bust out what they had as backup and go balls to the walls. Either way, with what Sony is rumoured to have, there's no way Microsoft is "winning" this E3.

People are all eyes on Sony now. People will want to focus on Shawn Layden and see if he has the same charm and enthusiasm as Tretton. I think the general consensus is that it was an underwhelming conference for Microsoft, and if Sony even shows gameplay footage of Uncharted 4 (and it will blow minds) and The Order: 1886, it will steal ALL the attention away from Microsoft. But they also have Project Beast and the heavily rumoured The Last Guardian, amongst other things like Sony Bend's new open-world horror game, AAA indies like RiME, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and Shadow of the Beast, as well as things we don't know.

There was an article posted I think it was yesterday on here. "Sony has everything to lose going into E3". Not after Microsoft's conference, that's for sure. We're in for a treat I'm sure.

MRMagoo1234031d ago

"With the way he was hyping the conference I expected to be flooded with a ton of amazing exclusives and new IPs"

I agree completely, I was expecting way more than they showed, they made out they had too much to show and had to show stuff early because of it and all they did was show the stuff we all knew about.

MS also said something about them doing something that was never done before at E3 which I have no clue what it was, they hyped the show to stupid high lvls and didnt deliver at all.

amiga-man4032d ago

To be fair the xone is a hard sell especially with all the crap MS tried to pull, they have lost a lot of hearts and minds this gen and trying to sell a machine with weaker specs just aint going to cut it.

Cryptcuzz4032d ago

That is their biggest hurdle right there. Even with X1 at the same price as the PS4 now, most software sold on any system (maybe except Nintendo's systems) is by third party games.

The media and gamers alike - through word of mouth will let it be known that the PS4 version is the one to get (often times better resolution, AA, maybe FPS, etc.) because it is simply easier to develop for and outright has better hardware under its cover.

Now top that off with Sony's usual strong first party support, PS+ offering better incentives, stronger third party support and I feel like X1 needs to be at $350 to compete.

A few months back, the X1 was being offered with Titanfall for free at some places for cheaper then $499. That still did not affect PS4 sales should speak volumes.

RiPPn4032d ago (Edited 4032d ago )

Agree, show was very underwhelming, they should have saved all the May announcements for the show today, would have had a far greater impact. And the Halo Masterchief collection is a great value, is it really a reason to own a bone? Sunset Overdrive is about the only game I'm excited for and I'm not buying a platform for 1 game.

iamnsuperman4032d ago (Edited 4032d ago )

There isn't much he could say to counter Geoff's point that isn't just lying (which would have been ripped apart on forums). Geoff, surprisingly, is right on point to ask this question. They showed a lot of good games but a lot of which is coming to the PS4 and could (if history is to go by) perform better on the PS4. Saying that I think Sony will do something similar

incendy354032d ago

Lol, if you really think that there is no way you are a gamer.

-Foxtrot4032d ago

You seem a little upset that I've said something you don't want to hear. The whole "your not a gamer" come back is silly, been done a shit load of times before and is quite an arrogant statement to make to be honest

nix4032d ago

dy35:

the fact that those mere third party games excited you enough makes me wonder that you could be a smart phone gamer.

Spotie4032d ago

Is this gonna be your new thing? "If you don't love what Microsoft had/has on offer, you're not a gamer?"

Phantom Dust and Scalebound were all that sorta interested me, and they were both CG trailers. The rest of what they showed was either multiplat, or just not that eye-catching to me. Does that mean I'm not a gamer?

R-A-S-04032d ago

Yet here he is; posting most days on gaming news site. Dunno about anyone else but I'm convinced.

MysticStrummer4032d ago

"if you really think that there is no way you are a gamer."

This kind of thing needs to stop. Telling someone they're not a gamer if they don't like the games you like is really ridiculous.

It wasn't a terrible show, but MS really needed to do better. I don't expect Sony to blow everyone away either, but MS needed to at least try for that kind of impact if they wanted to get back in this game.

The coolest thing I saw in that show was a multi plat. That doesn't sell me a system, especially when the game will most likely look at least marginally better on the competing platform.

choujij4031d ago (Edited 4031d ago )

@MysticStrummer

"It wasn't a terrible show, but MS really needed to do better."

I kinda feel the same way I did when I saw the Green Lantern movie. For hours, I tried to convince myself it was good. lol

I dont need convincing to buy one over another as it my intention to buy them both anyway. Just need to get the $$ to do so.

Im a patient person. the games they showed (as well as what's already out) will be there when the time is right.

JBSleek4032d ago

Many people thought this conference was really good. Of course you are entitled to your own opinion yet saying the conference was average at best isn't fact, it's opinion.

Sunset Overdrive, Fable Legend, Crackdown 3, Scalebound, Phantom Dust, Forza Horizon 2, Halo 5, Project Spark, ORI.

I think at this point if that doesn't make you want an Xbox then I don't know how they can convince some people and honestly some people won't be no matter what MS does or announce.

Nolando4032d ago

honestly... im buying an Xbox One eventually (more of a financially waiting period than anything)

But I was hoping for Mech Assault or Crimson Skies... That would of sold the whole show for me...

Other than that it was a solid great show for games and I loved the Halo announcement.

Jaqen_Hghar4032d ago

except that Forza Horizon 2 and Sunset Overdrive didn't even need to be there. They showed what they had shown before. A trailer for Forza and gameplay for SO had already been shown in the weeks prior to make room for...that same thing again. Also Scalebound, Phantom, Crackdown, and Halo all were CG trailers. A man doesn't get too excited for CG stuff after his experience with Dead Island and such that had great CG trailers. They just have no accountability because they can be totally not indicative of gameplay or tone for the actual game. A man is excited for Sunset Overdrive but that's it (Fable looked pretty meh to a man). He is interested in Scalebound but won't get too excited until gameplay (gameplay should be shown for new IP as a man hated when the Order and SO did this too)

-Foxtrot4032d ago

I didn't say it wasn't good, just not as good as they've hype it out to be.

He pretty much exaggerated all his big talk leading up to E3.

Some games can convince people to buy an Xbox One

Show a new Banjo, Conker 2, Perfect Dark 2, Alan Wake 2, Lost Odyssey 2 etc and it would of been better then multiplatform games.

AngelicIceDiamond4032d ago (Edited 4032d ago )

@Fox If they continued to show new games it would be more CGI or games that aren't ready to be released for a while.

MS already has a super packed line up of exclusives. I'm pretty sure its time we start to play some of these games that were promised last year.

I agree the conference was over hyped. I'm just glad half of what MS said is coming out this year, exclusives of course.

All the new ips were CGI is a bit of a downer but realistic these games are in early stages but we know those games are coming plus more.

The third party stuff was the most heavy I've ever seen in a MS conference. The money hatting stuff is a bit upsetting.

MS overall could of announce 1 or 2 more AAA's but Its great they're focusing on the holiday and taking it super serious with their exclusives.

zeuanimals4032d ago (Edited 4032d ago )

"MS already has a super packed line up of exclusives. I'm pretty sure its time we start to play some of these games that were promised last year."

You mean Titanfall? That was the only exclusive for the entire year. There's Plants vs. Zombies GW, but that's a timed exclusive, still, that's a game to play.

Forza Horizon 2 is gonna be the next exclusive and it's releasing 6 months after Titanfall... There's a serious drought on the system, but I guess there's the launch titles. Problem is, people are tired of the launch titles or didn't like them in first place.

There are great indies though, like Super Time Force and I hope the Xbox One gets more.

lelo4032d ago (Edited 4032d ago )

Microsoft had a good conference. I liked what I saw. Already have a PC and PS4, getting a X1 in Sep/Oct.

As for hateful stupid fanboys... f*** them.

DigitalRaptor4031d ago (Edited 4031d ago )

You are being very defensive.

Nobody I've seen, even on "Sony4G" has said they had a bad conference. More people who are renowned for disliking Microsoft have admitted that they had a good conference.

They had an "underwhelming" conference, sure. Based on the way it was being hyped up, it can be nothing short of underwhelming, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good. The balance of what they showed is what was unimpressive.

lelo4031d ago (Edited 4031d ago )

@DigitalRaptor

"Nobody I've seen, even on "Sony4G" has said they had a bad conference. "

Are you completely blind?

As for hyped? Nobody hyped Microsoft's E3. They simply said they were presenting games on their conference, and they did exactly that. Who is being defensive... you or me? Now if you didn't like their games that's your choice. I liked Microsoft's games and I will probably like Sony's games on their conference. I play games, not consoles.

MRMagoo1234031d ago

"Are you completely blind?

As for hyped? Nobody hyped Microsoft's E3"

You call someone else blind, yet you didnt see all the hype made for MS E3 conference, I can find about 10 articles from the last week about how good the MS E3 show will be and how it will steal the show and how Sony has to step up its game to even get close. I can only come to 3 conclusions #1 you are a fanboy in disguise or #2 you havent been on N4G for a few months #3 Taken over by complete denial.

deepio4031d ago

@MRMagoo123 - Find me these 10 articles. I saw nothing to suggest MS was hyping up E3 beyond showing lots of games, which they did. If anything it was other people hyping it up, but that was happening on both sides. For example HipHopGamer said Sony would show something "Industry changing".

They were both solid conferences and depending on which games you prefer you're gonna prefer one conference over the other. I never wanted a PS4 because I prefer the MS franchises like Halo, Gears, Forza etc and Sony's conference did nothing to make me wanna buy a PS4 either. So it works both ways. Everyone needs to just relax and celebrate the great games coming our way.

Agreed

I will say this though. It was the best Microsoft conference we got in years! Games, games and more games! Next time though, a few more exclusives and a bit more variaty.

showtimefolks4032d ago

-Foxtrot

I agree while their conference was all about games there weren't many that were that compelling. I have yet to buy an xbox one and may wit till around black friday to find some bundle deal

this conference was very good but not great. But its a good start

also people what do you want spencer to say? oh go out and buy a ps4? he runs xbox brand so of course he will say buy a xbox one

good start 7.5-8/10 for xbox conference

i hope they really take take of crackdown IP this time around, That universe has so much potential

asmith23064032d ago

All I really thought was good was the Halo collection, about time and it was a nice touch for all the Halo fans. Other than it felt like a multiplat conference. All their new exclusives look cartoony which I amn't into.

DevilOgreFish4032d ago (Edited 4032d ago )

"Halo 5, Sunset Overdrive and a few others were the only decent things at their conference"

............I guess they forgot to say a good percentage of their games are coming this year, compared to sony where most of their good game are pushed back to next year and the unannounced games for the year after.

xKugo4032d ago

LOL, how are most of their games coming this year? The literally spelled out "This is showcase of games in our 2015 and beyond portfolio" before they even began announcing anything exclusive.

Literally the only exclusives they have confirmed for release this Fall are Sunset Overdrive, Halo Collection and Forza. How in the hell do you wrap that up as "a good percentage of their games are coming this year"? Did you even watch the conference? It was 90% multiplats, 5% stuff we knew was coming(Halo and Forza), 3% something nobody is going to care about(Dead Rising 3 DLC), 2% stuff we've actually wanted
(Crackdown and Phantom Dust) and only 1% new IP
(Scalebound). Sounds to me like a decent conference that SEVERELY failed at meeting those loft expectations that good 'ole Phil hinted at. What happened to all those new IPs and unannounced titles that you Xbox fans were promised, because as far as I could tell they were pretty MIA.

All-in-all, don't kid yourself into thinking that Xbox is having a breakout year on games when they so clearly aren't. Both PlayStation and Xbox have almost all of their games coming in 2015. Halo 5,Uncharted 4, GOW4(if there is one), Quantum Break, Project Beast, Last Guardian(probably farther away), GG new IP, Bend new IP, London new IP, The Order:1886, etc are all coming much later.

Stop pretending like Xbox has all these WONDERFUL games and exclusives coming while PlayStation has nothing, when in reality it's a barren wasteland save for Halo, FH and SO. Both consoles are lacking in content, both are going to be relying on 3rd party games for the rest of this year and both will have a really great year when 2015 rolls around.

P.S: Something nobody seems to be mentioning is a possible negative side-effect to having such large collection of Halo. They literally have SO much content and it's such a great value, it has started to dawn on me as to whether this is going to be a bad thing for Halo 5. Halo is going to be literally everywhere come this fall as you can expect Microsoft to market the $hit out of it. Is not quite possible that people are going to be burned out on Halo by the time the next iteration comes out? I know this might not apply to the hardcore but for casuals, this has got to be a concern. I mean, Halo 5 is launching less than a year after this collection comes out. How are people going to be itching to play that when they just had Halo up to their neck not even 10 months ago. Just my opinion....

torchic4032d ago (Edited 4032d ago )

literally ONE game was delayed to 2015...... The Order and that's it.....

Magicite4032d ago

zero kinect games, now we can say for sure - kinect shovelware is gone for good.

tordavis4031d ago

-Foxtrot4031d ago

I think you'll find I've been saying possitive and negative things

I'm really getting sick of people like you who don't like something someone says so you try to say they are always negative, missing the positive things they've said.

If you take a look around I'm not the only one saying this.

Hell I didn't even say they had a bad conference, it just wasn't really that good as they made it out to be. It was pretty average...although it looked better since there last E3s have been pretty bad.

headblackman4031d ago

microsoft's press conference was better than sony's tv tv tv indie indie indie press conference.

and that's not subjective. that's actually what happened. (pretty much the same thing that sony fans crucified the x1 for doing for the reveal)

MAULxx4031d ago (Edited 4031d ago )

You can't have it both ways, Phil. You're removing Kinect to give 10% better performance, yet something that's barely been used by devs is still important yet it reduces the quality of games for it, but you take it away. what you're saying doesn't make sense, devs and people will pick a more even match in a MP game or a better performing xbox one game to kinect.

You got downvotes by pathetic gamers for feeling hopeful about good games coming out next year. Imagine how small your brain must be to downvote someone excited for future gaming joy? It is pretty neat to see people's world view blow up in front of them as they realize Microsoft has put themselves in a driver's seat that Sony hasn't been able to touch all generation.... What's even more pathetic is the same people downvoting you are the same people wishlisting Microsoft games on their ps5s 😂

NGL, next year might be one of the best years in gaming ... starting off with RE9 and GTA VI ...
and then all the good games that's been cooking
Pragmata, Sands of Time, Saros, Gears E-Day, 007 First Light, Blood of Dawnwalker,
Mortal Shell II, Onimusha, Marvel1943: Rise of Hydra
current-gen only Infinity Ward's CoD, Duskbloods
+ My guess: Wolverine, Exodus, Mudang, Crimson Desert, Clockwork etc ...
~ seems like it might get too stacked

dveio11d ago (Edited 11d ago )

This list, that's been posted again, and again, and again in every single topic like this, contains almost nothing, literally almost nothing from Microsoft's own creational thoughtprocess.

It's a bunch of former 3rd party IPs.

Now even slowly returning to Playstation in some cases like Indiana, Hellblade, probably Starfield soon too, after they were made exclusively to Xbox on purpose.

Due to Microsoft's lack for own IP material except Halo & Forza. Which, the lack of, was the sole reason for all of it to happen in the first place anyway. Please don't pretend it wasn't.

And just look at all the games that come from Obsidian alone.

You really think Obsidian wasn't already working on Avowed and South of Midnight even without Microsoft buying Zenimax?

Microsoft delivered nothing but cheques.

Common narrative I see often — that Microsoft shouldn’t get credit for the games its studios release because they “just bought them.” But this viewpoint ignores key context and sets a double standard that other platform holders aren’t held to

No one is saying these games wouldn't exist at all without Microsoft. But let’s not pretend that having a trillion-dollar company backing a studio doesn’t make a massive difference. Obsidian never had AAA funding before the Xbox acquisition. Pillars of Eternity was crowdfunded, and their resources were always stretched thin. Now they’re working on Avowed, with proper support behind it.

Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was made by around 20 people, using borrowed equipment and doing mocap in a boardroom. It was a passion project held together by tape and willpower. Today, Hellblade II exists because they were given resources, time, and freedom — something many developers don’t get unless they’re owned by a company that believes in their vision.

ZeniMax (Bethesda’s parent company) was in real financial trouble before the Microsoft acquisition. Reports and insider accounts have pointed out how much they needed a cash infusion. And while some people want to write off Xbox’s ownership of Bethesda titles, they forget the alternative could have meant layoffs or even closures.

The same goes for Activision Blizzard. Would you really prefer the company to stay under Bobby Kotick, after all the documented workplace misconduct and toxic leadership issues? Say what you want about Microsoft, but their acquisition brought accountability and change to a company that desperately needed it.

At the same time, Xbox gets hated on for doing what every major company does. Sony bought Housemarque, Bluepoint, Insomniac — but no one says Spider-Man 2 “doesn’t count” because of that. Why does Xbox get treated differently for acquiring struggling or undervalued developers and giving them a chance to thrive?

And the idea that Xbox locks games away is outdated. They're pushing cross-platform releases, cloud gaming, Game Pass, and backward compatibility more than any other platform holder. They're not forcing all studios into live service. If anything, their upcoming lineup is less GAAS-heavy and more focused on narrative and creativity — Avowed, South of Midnight, Clockwork Revolution, Fable, Perfect Dark, Towerborne, and others show real variety.

Whether people like it or not, Xbox is now the biggest publisher in the industry and owns the most gaming IPs. But what matters more is how they treat their studios. Most of these teams were previously stuck making AA games with limited scope — now they’re getting the tools and support to aim higher.

So when people say “Microsoft didn’t make those games,” they’re missing the point. It’s not about who started the studio — it’s about who enabled them to do their best work. You don’t have to love Xbox to admit they’ve helped a lot of developers and are taking a player-first approach.

Instead of writing off everything they do, maybe try recognizing the good they’re doing for both devs and gamers. At the end of the day, we should want more studios to succeed — no matter who owns them

BeHunted11d ago

I'm surprised Clockwork Revolution (BioShock meets Dishonored) isn't getting more media attention. The game looks interesting and reminds me of the old RPG games.

anast10d ago

The only good game on that list is Flight sim. The rest are either average or will be average. It's not a good look for MS.

TheEroica10d ago

My god.... Look how many comments are upset about microsoft's successes... 😂 This may be my new favorite thread. Not one gamer saying thanks for all the goodness coming their way, just bitter anger and downvoting the very games they themselves will purchase throughout 2026.... Sony really worked you guys over this generation.... Condolences.

DivineHand12510d ago

@neutralgamer1992 You said what needed to be said.

I have heard for years from older gamers that fanboys are the biggest issue with any fanbase. They will defend or gloss over negative news as long as the correct logo is on the box and they bash the competing platform no matter how much good they are trying to bring.

Right now their advocacy for PlayStation is elevating that platform so high that Sony no longer believes they need to do anything to satisfy their loyal fanbase like they did in the PS4 days.

I just hope most of them will eventually start advocating for themselves and encourage others to do the same. No one should blindly support one platform because these companies do not care about anything other than profit.

neutralgamer199210d ago

Hunted

And first proper game done by the studio with proper AAA budget and saying it will be released when ready

Anast

I believe we went through this before that you are objectively wrong. Meta critic, user reviews, game sales. In Playstation top 10 best selling games were 5 from Microsoft studios

Otter

No this dude is saying so many other studios wouldn't be thriving without MS money and people would be getting abused physically and mentally with Bobby kotick and his side kicks

Also maybe look up how the original founder of Bethesda and zenimax was kicked out of his own company by his best friend lawyer. So that was always a shady place and had been struggling financially before MS paid a premium of almost 7 billion

Eroica

I use to be a die hard Playstation fan and now I only have a Pc. I see how these fans are so toxic. They just can't handle any positive news regarding Xbox. When the best selling games on playstation are Xbox titles. Look at Forza horizon being best seller and that's years old game by MS. I guess ms don't deserve credit for that success too since they are the only company in gaming making acquisitions

Forget the fact Sony paid 3.6 billion for bungie and MS 6.9 for zenimax. Which investment has turned out better

Destiny and marathon with a lot of controversy

While zenimax output is nothing short of amazing compared to what bungie has released

crazyCoconuts10d ago

Yeah it's tricky. "Xbox" has morphed to mean different things to different people.
Console, now Windows, GamePass, and the cross platform games. There's a mix of attitudes towards all those things individually, and maybe an overarching attitude towards MS. But can't argue that the game companies MS recently bought continue to flourish, and GamePass PC has been a great value over the last year.

They've had good output so far. So waiting for those games shouldn't be a problem.

Who cares if they're buy outs of companies or whatever excuse you want to make. They're games that are being distributed to other console. Play the games and enjoy it instead of fanboying or complaining.

ocelot0711d ago

They going to be a he best and biggest publisher on Xbox, Playstation and PC next year. They not really said anything about Switch 2 though spite claiming to be big supporters.

quenomamen11d ago

If you call making one last Xbox before going full Sega, as Great. Then yea.

Phil Spencer 'Very Excited' About Xbox Handheld Plans For 2025

With ASUS seemingly teasing an Xbox handheld last week, there's been a lot of talk about the device in the days ever since, and Xbox boss Phil Spencer has also teased something to do with handhelds happening in 2025

neutralgamer199277d ago

I really hope this isn't a windows based device even though coming from MS that's highly unlikely. SteamDeck is much much easier to use and offers a much better user experience than any other handheld device because it's all based on steam app. The Xbox handheld should be based on that because a Windows device with a 7-8 inch screen makes it's difficult to navigate

darthv7277d ago

Coming from Asus... its going to be an Xbox branded ROG Ally.

neutralgamer199277d ago

That's fine but hopefully it will be a Xbox app based instead of windows

VenomUK76d ago (Edited 76d ago )

When the casual market learn that there’s going to be an Xbox branded Asus handheld they will cancel their Nintendo Switch 2 preorders and get the Asus. No it won’t have exclusive games like Super Mario or Zelda or Metroid or Pilot Wings or Mario Kart or Animal Crossing or Donkey Kong or Pokémon or Super Smash Bros - but who cares as it will have access to the entire library of the Steam Store running on Windows. It will also have access to Game Pass with all the modern day classics like Avowed, Hellblade II and Grounded and Pentiment.

I think we all have to acknowledge that after all the criticism of Switch 2 on ResetEra it’s evidence that it will fail to sell and the Asus will outsell it. Dreamcast pushed Sega out of hardware, we all have to accept that the perfect storm of Switch 2 pricing, an Xbox-branded Asus and Phil Spencer and Aaron Greenberg’s persuasive promotion will likely kill off Switch 2 within a month. AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

FinalFantasyFanatic76d ago (Edited 76d ago )

@VenomUK,
I don't think that even has a remote chance of happening, Nintendo has so much brand loyalty, even with the backlash on their not so great pricing, I still think it's going to sell, Xbox doesn't have as much brand loyalty. Plus, if it's just Xbox branded ROG Ally or something similar, why not just choose a ROG ally or Steam Deck? They can both do everything that an Xbox branded handheld can. If Xbox is going to compete in the world of windows based handhelds, it has so much competition, it's going to struggle.

You're way too optimistic about the Xbox handheld and the demise of the Switch 2, I'm going to predict the opposite and say the Switch 2 will demolish the Xbox handheld in terms of sales/popularity.

S2Killinit76d ago

@VenomUK
Not sure if sarcasm or satire.

VenomUK76d ago

@S2Killinit Satire. I’m not going to hate on people for being excited for a new console. But what is happening in the Xbox community is something wicked, content creators are hyping up the Asus to their audience about how great this thing is, and how it will be more powerful than the Switch 2 and the Steam Store outweighs any advantage the Switch 2 has with its library of games. I don’t believe they believe it but they are grifting. By all means look forward to it but don’t sell it as a Switch 2 PS5 killer.

Steam Os is amazing. By far the best. Can’t imagine MS having an OS that can top it (CERTAINLY not windows)

crazyCoconuts77d ago

Well they're gonna try. They've already stated they've been working on it.

FinalFantasyFanatic76d ago

Windows as is, isn't a great experience for a handheld, they really need to make a dedicated handheld OS, unfortunately they've always been hellbent on making a single product for both PC/touch screen use.

I really can't imagine them making something that stands up to Steam OS, it just works so well.

RaidenBlack76d ago (Edited 76d ago )

This is not their in-house made Xbox handheld for next-gen, which is slated for release in 2027 alongside with the next Xbox console, which might run a version of their usual Xbox-ified OS optimized for the handheld.
This is just a brand collab to produce an Xbox branded updated Asus RoG Ally (Project Kennan), which as usual ships with Windows. Think of it as the 5th main competitor in handheld PC market, after Deck, Legion Go, Ally and MSi Claw (I know others exist, but these are the popular ones).
https://wccftech.com/xbox-h...
And RoG Ally didn't get an update this year like the Legion Go, so this Xbox-Asus one might be that?
Anyways, even with 2025 chip upgrade, the Legion Go underperforms compared to 2023 Ally and 2024 Ally X.

crazyCoconuts77d ago

It can't be anything but Windows if it has the Xbox brand on it. Outside of the politics (which would be a showstopper), SteamOS/Linux can't run GamePass natively due to the crazy protections implemented by the Windows Store.

neutralgamer199277d ago

I am not asking the Xbox handheld to run steam, I just wanted a dedicated Xbox app on the handheld that handles everything from playing games, downloading games, gamepass and most importantly all updates are done from that app. Just a better overall user experience

Having to download multiple different things on a Windows based device becomes really a chore in a smaller screen.

crazyCoconuts76d ago

Having the windows handheld auto launch the existing Xbox Windows app will accomplish everything you mentioned, and I'm sure that's what this will be.
Fact is that MS will need to add a lot into that app to incorporate all the system level controls Steam incorporated into their handheld UI.

OmegaSoldati76d ago

Steam Deck for the win! Switch too.

Profchaos76d ago (Edited 76d ago )

It'll be windows all leaks indicate this is a windows based device with a Xbox skin it will integrate other storefronts because at its core it's windows.

@venom there's is no chance that parents will be buying their kids a rog ally setting up steam and other storefronts over a Nintendo switch 2 at Christmas.

That's a mass amount of hopium there.

Portable PC's in total have barely cracked six million sold the switch 2 will continue to dominate the casual crowd all known about it and news of a switch successor has already started spreading in mainstream media

neutralgamer199276d ago

I think switch 2 will do well but dominate I think we need to wait and see. The prices of the console and games is much more than switch so don't expect parents in this inflation time to spend $600 on 2 games and a console. Since it's Nintendo it should sell but I think we are underpaying the importance of the inflated market

anast77d ago

Every inch of this things is going to be a subservice.

Aloymetal76d ago

And an even bigger flop in the making, it's like they're just throwing crap at the wall and see what sticks or rather find another ''clever'' way to keep squeezing more money from the already miniscule and gullible fanbase. Smfh.

Reaper22_76d ago

Squeezing money. Isn't that what sony is doing with tbe ps5pro. And what about all those remakes and locking some ps4 games to a subscription.

ABizzel176d ago

At first I thought this was a huge mistake on MS part. But after thinking about this more and more, while I still don’t think it’s going to do anything beyond 10 - 20 million in sales, I think that’s exactly what MS and ASUS are expecting and both are okay with.

I assume this is more of Asus saying to MS, look we have ten/twenty million of these handheld PCs already in production and we’ve only been able to sell a couple millions, partner with us and let’s brand them as Xbox handhelds ASUS will do all the heavy lifting so we don’t take a loss on all these, and all MS has to do is market the platform and put your logo, the new Xbox OS/app you’ve been working on, and together we’ll helps each other out and push more GamePass subscriptions.

That make complete logical sense as to why this came about, because otherwise….. So technically it would be a win:win for both companies, or a win for MS and a reduction of loss of ASUS, even if they only sell 10m - 20m units.

As for the handheld itself honestly, it should be solid and most likely based on the Rog Ally 7, but hopefully with the Rog Ally X case as that has a much better port and I/O layout. Plus if the Xbox OS is wayyyyyyy lighter than Windows then it should be a a good piece of tech getting more performance than the Ally 7 Windows version for around $499.

But that’s where the next problem comes into play…..Price. It’s Switch 2 all over again. The slight different is outside of the potential of DLSS, this should be a slightly more powerful handheld, especially if they create their own dock, but that dock will likely be sold separately meaning now we’re looking at $550 or more, for what will essentially be a docked Xbox Series S and a slightly more powerful SteamDeck / Switch 2 in handheld mode.

peppeaccardo76d ago

The Irrelevant-Held will be able to connect to the XFLOP Series X

anast76d ago

ha! It might last longer than the Stadia.

Profchaos76d ago

Basically what windows os turning into now every few weeks logging on I'm greeted with a hey how about some office 365 or your gamepass lapsed how about renewing and decline is in little blue writing while subscribe is a huge button

anast76d ago

This and I also get a pop up to subscribe to Xbox GamePass.

PanicMechanic77d ago

So smart of you caveman Phil sphincter. Did you get the memo on what Nintendo is releasing this year?

Kyizen76d ago

I dont trust Microsoft to build an OS for this looking at the Windows phone so I think this will be just Windows with a Steam like Big Picture mode locked in the UI to launch games.

Rockstar76d ago

This is good advice from Reaper here. I trust your advice and you've got my word...I wont buy it.

Thanks Reaper!

YourMommySpoils76d ago

Then don't complain about facts.

PanicMechanic76d ago (Edited 76d ago )

So in other words, it’s just another ROG Ally. I think MS has a winner🤣🤣

FinalFantasyFanatic76d ago

I remember when my sister bought a Windows phone, that thing was missing so many basic features, she didn't even own the phone for 3 months before getting frustrated and swapping it out.

Profchaos76d ago

I'll be honest I had a older relative that loved the windows phone cause it had a huge dial, contacts and camera button that was all it got used for.

Oh and it was bright green so easy to find

Moral of the story one person's trash is another's treasure

Reaper22_76d ago

Windows phones weren't the best but I also remember sonys phones didn't fare too well either. As a matter of fact they're newest ones aren't doing so great either. Not even in Japan. That says alot.

Profchaos75d ago

@reaper22 honestly Shane about the Sony phones to I brought the Xperia 3 when they announced remote play for it and it was one of the best ones I have had the battery lasted a few days the camera was some obscene 50mp but the physical design lagged behind Samsung and I think that was a huge reason it failed

Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Reassures Xbox Gamers Their Gaming Library Isn't Going Anywhere

Xbox's CEO Phil Spencer assures that, even though they are expanding to other platforms, Xbox gamer's libraries aren't going anywhere.

jznrpg125d ago

Phil, the words of a guy who only speaks the truth.

If I was an Xbox owner I wouldn’t feel comfortable with what he just said

crazyCoconuts125d ago

Reading his quote sounds like word salad. I'm not sure he said anything really.

darthv72125d ago

I'd rather him say more of our library will be made available now. It sucks to have so many 360 era games still stuck in limbo, especially Activision ones now that they are buddy buddy.

VenomUK125d ago (Edited 125d ago )

Sarah Bond had committed to backwards compatibility, so interpreting Phil Spencer’s quote, old Xbox games will always be playable with a PS3 on PSN like cloud solution, and on new hardware if a new Xbox console is ever released.

Scissorman125d ago (Edited 125d ago )

why does this even need to be reassured? it really goes to show you how nervous there fanbase is.

Eonjay125d ago

Right. I was thinking the same thing. This shouldn't be some sort of 'benefit' for Xbox gamers as MS goes to Sony and Nintendo... This should just be implied. No matter where the games go in the future should have any impact on the purchased games libraries of current Xbox consumers.

pwnmaster3000125d ago

Yup no matter how much they say they don’t care, the fanbase care lol

Profchaos125d ago (Edited 125d ago )

What's left of them one the last 12 months I've seen Xbox consoles flooding second hand marketplaces and going for half of their RRP

In addition this interview the whole panel was clearly not believing the viewpoint but not wanting to offend their guest

LabRat124d ago

When (or "if") Xbox goes out of hardware those who don't play on Cloud or prefer hardware...where will they play their library?

PhillyDonJawn124d ago

Not the question. If you already gave the hardware and games. Why would it disappear?

Chocoburger125d ago

Ah yes, Phillip, the pinnacle of honesty, and he never changes his mind. We can all take his word for it without hesitation. 🤥

Profchaos125d ago

He did but in the follow up sentence he talked about charging pricing because they are a business so who knows maybe the next gen box has a fee to use their emulator service I imagine wine ports to a PC architecture
