It should come as no surprise that the tech-titans of China would get involved in the biggest entertainment upheaval since wonderbras. Now hardware development outfit ANTVR from Beijing are bringing us a very interesting set of devices called the ANTVR-Kit, billed as an ‘All-in-one Universal Virtual Reality Kit’. It consists of a VR headset and a controller built into a gun housing.
During E3 LagunaLevine set out to try as many Virtual Reality headsets as he could manage. He tried out the new StarVR, AntVR, Oculus Rift, and Samsung Gear VR.
VRFocus - It’s been some time since virtual reality (VR) enthusiasts have heard from ANTVR, the ‘all-in-one’ VR head-mounted display (HMD) that managed to raise over $260,000 USD via a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign in mid-2014. Part of the appeal of this unique HMD is that it can run on a wide range of devices, including PC and Xbox 360. This week at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) the company behind ANTVR has reconfirmed that the kit will also be compatible with the PlayStation 4, and has even announced to VRFocus that it will be launching on the console with a VR version of first-person horror title P.T..
If I hadn't already played it, I think this would definitely give me a heart attack.
VRFocus - Videogame-focused virtual reality (VR) headset ANTVR has had a long Kickstarter campaign that has seen much attention drawn to it, both from optimistic backers and cautious enthusiasts. Now that campaign has come to a close, with the project far exceeding its initial $200,000 USD goal, raising a total of $260,834 with the help of some 681 backers. The money will help fund the development and production of the all-in-one headset.
O yeah! The party's really getting started!
