Battlefield Hardline – GM Confirms Visceral as Lead on Multiplayer and Single Player

MP1st - Following some of the slight confusion surrounding the teams involved in Battlefield Hardline‘s production, Visceral general manager Steve Papoutsis confirms exactly who is developing what in EA’s recently unveiled Fall shooter.

BattleAxe4041d ago

The idea of this game is interesting, but I'm still playing BC2 and BF3. Too many Battlefield games starting to come out.

showtimefolks4041d ago

it use to be a new BF game meant huge news but now EA will try to turn it into the run of mill Military FPS

sad thing is BF4 still hasn't been fixed and they are already releasing another.

jdktech20104041d ago

To be fair, this doesn't look too run of the mill. The only other game it reminds me of (besides Battlefield itself) is Payday which I've never played. I've heard it's a hell of a time though.

shivvy244041d ago

I went back to bf3, its was far better.

venom064041d ago (Edited 4041d ago )

wow... spoken like a TRUE CoD fanboy... that has to be the STUPIDEST thing thats been put on N4G in a LONG time... so CoD comes out every year, but folks don't say anything about "too many CoDs"... this is FIRST time a Battlefield game has come out a year after a previous one and now is "too many Battleifields"???? GTFO with ridiculous statement.. Point of the matter is, this is a spin-off (like Ghosts, Black Ops, Modern Warfare), and spin-offs are great the longevity of franchises.. Battlefield should've done this long time ago and CoD has been having spin-offs forever.. Cant wait to see more one this one....

Ripsta7th4041d ago (Edited 4041d ago )

So venom you are OK w developers releasing 1 game a year? CoD does it so why can't they right? Actually all developers should do that since you say it adds longetivity to the franchise. They should also have microtransactions for camos because COd does it, so why can't they right??! I don't like the way you think

showtimefolks4040d ago

venom06

here is the major difference

1-Activision have this development cycle figured out

2-Most COD are fun to pick up and play(hence the reason its sold so much, the learning curve is quite steep in BF series)

3-Most COD's aren't broken, their DLC packs don't have to be delayed because the developers have to fix the game via patches over half an year after release

4-I personally hate the yearly releases, but i don't buy COD,BF or AC games. Just not my cup of tea. I am a single player gamer

I was speaking from a different point of view, as someone who doesn't buy a lot of FPS, BF name is a legit brand. People expect quality and support for long long time after release

more power to you if you think its ok. But atleast Activision are going with 3 teams/3 years development cycles instead of 2

I agree. I love all the Battlefield games, but it is becoming overbearing with all the titles coming out so fast now. This really isn't on my radar... and Visceral working on the MP isn't really helping.

I wish DICE and Visceral would take a break from Battlefield, and work on the Star Wars games they have going. Hopefully, Visceral working on Battlefield means DICE is working their asses off on Star Wars Battlefront.

venom064041d ago (Edited 4041d ago )

and what's hilarious and stupid at the same time, is that folks aren't even commenting on the fact that this story is about the fact that Visceral is lead on SP and MP with collaboration from DICE... folks ran to this comment section to talk about BF4 (that Visceral had nothing to do with)... Cant wait to see the new and fresh take on the franchise thats gonna come from this game..

XiNarutoUzumaki4041d ago (Edited 4041d ago )

Mm I'm skeptical about this. Viceral games did a really god job with Dead Space 1 and 2. However, DE3 flopped and DE2 MP was meh.

I'll wait and see.

Deadpoolio4041d ago

Ummmm Dead Space 3 did not flop....

Plagasx4041d ago

Well it certainly was not as good as the first 2 that's for sure.

showtimefolks4041d ago

dead space 1 filled the gaps for many left behind by average resident evil games. Dead Space 2, EA tried to make more action and less like original(which fans loved)

for dead space 3 they just F-ed it up, plain and simple. Yes it did flop big time.

XiSasukeUchiha4040d ago

Wait Naruto remember your ordered by me, but yeah Dead 1 and 2 were good , but I disagree on Dead space 3 was alright!

NovusTerminus4041d ago (Edited 4041d ago )

Sad that Visceral got set on this project. I love Dead Space (yes, all of them) and was eager to see their Jack the Ripper project which I assume now is dead, since they are just another FPS team now.

infinitewords4041d ago

Yup, same here. I really enjoyed all of the Dead Space games and seeing Visceral getting taken off doesn't bode well for the franchise.

Alex_Boro4041d ago (Edited 4041d ago )

Great lets make some dead space maps and charge it as dlc

Trunkz4041d ago (Edited 4041d ago )

Thank God!

People keep blaming EA for crap, they only made DICE push the game out early, all the coding and problems have been DICE fault tho, especially the bad netcoding.

Visceral hopefully will do things differently and get it right.

OmegaShen4041d ago

Because anything with EA on it, means buggy games or online problems.

Skate 3 anyone?

This was one of my harder platinums to get, mainly because the game was the beginning of the Battlefield decline, this game was horrible.

Yi-Long232d ago

DLC for shooters generally splits the player-base between ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’, and it often means that servers became less populated and as a result, many dropped the game completely once that happened …

myDorazio232d ago

Yeah, kind of ironic isn't it. If they had released it a year later with the DLC part of the base experience, it would have gotten a bigger audience.

Hardline at least tried to mix things up for the first time in a while. This was pretty much the nail in the coffin for Visceral though.

MDTunkown237d ago

The map were to small for a lot of ideas, riding around two streets was stupid

Cacabunga237d ago

Yet another great decision made by EA. They really know what they’re doing

just_looken237d ago (Edited 237d ago )

The vip mode was a great idea but the whole game had that need more time in the oven feeling. My only big issue with hardline as a whole was the smgs.

But vip plus c4 classic

Classic mp hardline video of someone actually using a mic in game very rare too see this today

Heck games launch without voip today

GAMERJET238d ago

Hardline was my favorite Battlefield.

Demetrius238d ago

Hardline was fun af, nice size areas to get around in. Got a good 10 hours out of it because I took my time much as I can. Sucha good story and atmosphere

RavenWolfx237d ago

I didn't even know this was something that had been requested. A new Bad Company, oh hell yeah. Hardline? Not so much.

HyperMoused237d ago

Hardline was great for what it was and it had the best MP mode with the moving hardpoints, if you havnt played it the hard points to capture were vehicles, with points earned for how long you are in one, so its this huge mash up of ground warfare and taking out vehicles and getting in one and tearing ass trying not to get blown up...was awesome.
