VRFocus - Founder of Oculus VR and creator of the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset Palmer Luckey has stated that he thinks the company will be 'the best' in its field 'for a long time'. Luckey stated as much to VRFocus during an interview at last week's Silicon Valley Virtual Reality (SVVR) Conference & Expo in Mountain View, California. He reasoned that the company hopes to be the first 'prominent' VR specialist, stating that he thinks Oculus VR will 'stay in front' of the competition such as the PS4's Project Morpheus going forward.

I don't understand the hate for selling to Facebook. If you were in his position, would you say no to 2 billion dollars?
Those of you who kickstarted for $350 or more were purchasing a product. The 1st version of the Oculus headset, and you got what you paid for. You didn't buy stock in the company or sign on as a partner.
With all the Facebook money, Oculus will probably get the consumer version out much earlier than scheduled and have custom made parts rather than settling for scraps from the mobile industry.
Facebook bought Instagram and as far as I can tell has left it alone to do its own thing. I don't think Lucky would have signed on with Facebook if they didn't promise the same thing.
But I'm happy that Sony and other companies are in this space as well. Competition and rivalry drives innovation and for new tech like this, it is exactly what the field needs.
