I personally enjoy Kinect, and know many others that do so as well. I can't imagine navigating my dashboard without using voice commands and the gestures are nice as well. Games like NFS integrating Kinect made the game much more enjoyable too.

I made the assumption that Microsoft would be using Rare to lead the charge and deliver on their promise of continuing to support Kinect. Never use my Kinect at all. Will be selling once the kinectless xb1 comes out. Navigating the dashboard with a controller is the way to go.

I don't see what Microsoft does not allow voice commands via headset like Sony does though.

I enjoy KINECT as well.

Kinect is great for those that like it. I use it all the time, great for navigating menus when you have a 1 year old that loves controllers. Also great for Skype... everyone that argues the value of a 100$ set top mic, 1080p web cam, and ir blaster should do a little research to see how much those components cost individually and a way to do integrate them into a home entertainment center is kind of a hassle. Don't call someone a liar for stating opinions... truth: I know lots of people that like kinect.

so how much does a webcam cost $20 adn since most tv can connect to the internet how much does that cost. Who phone has screen mirroring ( most). how much does an xbox one cost to do something that you can do on a wii u, ps3, xbox 360 , ps4 , or Tv. oh yeah 500 its the most expensive way to do what you are saying. Your trying to pitch kinect like it is cheaper and more cost effective than other means and its not. its a waste of $150 that it cost.

you fanboys need to thing in reality, as an owner of 17 xbox 360's. M.s messed up the xbone, it sucks compared to the competition. Yes controlling your entertainment is cool with your voice. but its a novelty that wears off really fast when it doesnt work. I have a ps4 camera and have used it like twice. it works nice but at the same time its pointless.

If it doesnt sell then they had no real interest to begin with but just wanted to be part of the conversation.

Sony has only sold about 1 million more consoles than 360 after offering a GTA_V bundle (the best selling game ever). Lost over 30% of marketshare to MSFT

360 sold approximately 90 MILLION more games, plus if a VERY CONSERVATIVE estimate of 50% of 360 owners having an xbl subscription that's 40 MILLION + xbl users. Gained about 30% marketshare in only its second generation

On Topic, how did they shortchange XB1 users when the ones who are complaining, haven't even bought an XB1 yet. You don;t hear very many complaints from people who actually have an XB1.

First of all, the PS3 was on the market for a year less time than the 360 and still managed to exceed its sales. Second of all, the GTA V bundle was put on the market two months before the release of the PS4. Pretty much everyone who wanted a last gen console already had theirs when the bundle was released, and those who didn't already were probably waiting for the next generation to be released instead.

So your numbers are more than a little skewed.

Sony is doubling Xbone sales and you want to compare last gen sales which has what relevance to current sales? A lot of 360 customers are getting PS4's. If you want to bring up last then then tell us how many unique 360 owners their are after you subtract how many were resold 360's for RROD. They have a $100 camera with the purchase and some even have a free game with their purchase to for $100 more. I don't know how is that short changing the customer. IS the Kinect not getting supported and suddenly die? Nope, it will continue to evolve and many people are enjoying the function that it is providing them with the extra $100 premium. Now, if they drop the price of the System to $399 with the Kinect still intact, then new adopter are getting short changed. See the difference? Myself, I am happy with what the camera is providing as far as media features goes like recording upload and Skype so I don't feel short changed at all.

They said 5 million shipped in the article, had you continued reading. The '5 million shipped' was at the end of Q3 14 (Jan-Mar), it's probably still shy of 5 million sold now.

Anyway, X1 isn't going to catch PS4 at the same price, I will LOL hard if nobody buys the Kinectless especially as bundles w/Kinect and a game are actually much better value.

I agree. i believe Ps4 is over 8 million and Xbox One is just hitting 5. There is at least a 3 million worldwide gap and until Microsoft releases the console in more territories the gap will continue to increase.

It will still be cheaper picking up the Bundle than the X1 and Kinect separately.. So for people like myself who has two daughters and I'll probably utilize the Kinect down the road it still saved me cash by picking up the bundle. So I don't mind.

The thing is, if you've been gaming for any amount of time at all, you know that systems will always drop price, so if you get one at launch, you KNOW that will be an issue....when PS4 finally drops in price will that be "short-changing" everyone? Or how about everyone that has a Wii U, or any system last gen? As far as Kinect goes, anyone who bought an XB1 knows about it, and from what I can tell from people that own an XB1 the vast majority not just like it, but they love it.

Whenever I see an opinion piece like this (filled with unsubstantiated fonboy-esque assumptions and criticisms), I can't help but think it's written and enjoyed by people that have never used a Kinect/XB1 or people that haven't given them a fair chance and made up their mind before a brief demo that they weren't going to like it.

Who knows, maybe it's time to stop applying logic to these opinion pieces, they aren't an objective look at video gaming and an attempt to legitimately make it better, it's just someone with the ability to write online thinking that they "won" because they are able to write down how much they hate something they don't understand. You don't like Kinect, fine you don't have to get one. Kinect is however still for sale (and even bundled with XB1), it's still amazing for UI navigation/Watching TV/netflix, etc., it's still great for those who like to broadcast on twitch or skype, and it will most likely play a major role in AR/VR tech in the future.....oh yeah and you can game with it if that is your thing, I don't do that much, but admittedly the tech is impressive if you have open space to use it. I don't know, my XB1/Kinect was a day one purchase for me (and like all my other systems) was worth every penny. I don't feel short-changed at all.

As for the price difference and the "SUCKERS" that bought Xbox One, with a Kinect; they should have known that products go up and down in price for whatever reason, all the time. Calling every-single person who bought an Xbox One (with Kinect), a "SUCKER", is a major exaggeration. I, for one, love my Xbox One, and Kinect.

Whenever I switch over to other devices, such as my Xbox 360, NOW TV, TiVO box, etc. I get a little snobby, because I can't control it with my voice.

Point is, people, myself included, pay a premium for the latest products, with everything in the box. Calling people "SUCKERS", for buying a brand-new-to-the-market console, is like calling someone a "SUCKER" for buying the latest Assassin's Creed on release date, instead of waiting for it to appear in the bargain bucket!

I bought the X1 with Kinect and I have played it 100's if not 1000's of hours. There is a lot of "new" content on X1. And it has been constant since launch... I do not regret anything about X1's gaming content offerings.

I feel more like a "sucker" owning a PS4. Because I have a PC and play Indie games there. Therefore, my PS4 gets very little time other than booting it once a month for the free games and firmware updates. Luckily I got my PS4 for $200, otherwise I would've regretted the purchase. I can understand console gamers who haven't experienced the indie games yet, but as a PC gamer as well, the PS4 is very light on new content.

Kinect is just a gimmick, but micro listened and got rid of it, wether it was about sales or fanbase they still got rid of it, kinect was useless to me, didnt even work how i wanted it too or how i was told it was, so i diskinected it, but if others liked it thats cool, just was not for me.

Just focus on games and what the fans want and micro will do fine
