Neener Neener, Last Game! or Why I Sometimes Love Nintendo’s Archaic Online System
Today I came home and downloaded Dr. Mario RX (& Virus Buster) from Nintendo’s recently launched WiiWare service. The big draw in this iteration of the classic pill-puzzler was the ability to prescribe beatdowns online.
My initial instinct upon booting up Dr. Mario for the first time was to immediately hop online. The game itself was already available in Japan and Europe for months and a week respectively, so I knew I would be out of my league (read: at least I’d have an excuse for being used as a floor mop). To my surprise I actually held my ground in the matches I played. Let me tell you a little bit about how it exactly works, though.
