Dr. Mario Online Rx Highlights Wii Shop New Releases

This week I've been very crucial to the Wii's online Shop Channel. But they recently released two new games for WiiWare and a couple of classic titles for the Virtual Console.

Dr. Mario Online Rx and 'Family Table Tennis' debut for WiiWare, while 'Metal Slug' and 'City Connection' have been added to the Virtual Console in overall a pretty solid week of releases for the Wii.

At only 1000 Wii points ($10) Dr. Mario looks like the crown jewel with up to 4 players and several new modes including battle and online. Dr.Mario is a favorite of my own but adding multiplayer in the mix increases my interest in the game.

As for the rest, I assume 'Family Table Tennis' will act as a glorified 'Wii Sports' type of game. I've never played City Connection, but the goal is to cover as much road as possible without being picked off by the Po-Po and apparently some other more ridiculous obstacles. Metal Slug is that game found at every skating ring with lots of gun upgrades, if you haven't thrown your Wii at your presidential candidate yet pick it up now and have some fun.

Dr. Mario Online Rx released on May 26, 2008 on the Wii, through the WiiWare service. The game released with a price point of 1,000 Wii Points, which is $10, and can still be downloaded for that price today. The game was developed by Arika and published by Nintendo.
