An Interview with Uwe Boll

From Kotaku : "When we typically see director Uwe Boll, diarrhea is running the mouth with him threatening to beat up internet nerds or trashing Hollywood filmmakers. Here, he's at Starbucks and sitting in the park and *gasp* actually saying intelligent things. Nice interview."

So what.

Really, maybe he's nice. Maybe Nickelback has several nice guys. That doesn't change that the music/movies are mediocre trash. It's great that it's his dream, but a lot of us would love to be rockstars and just plain don't have the talent... and if you love music, you're not going to put trash out there just because...

I have no problem with the guy. I don't know him. His movies, on the other hand... need to stop. Or he needs to improve, vastly.

Nickelback may not be a very "good" band, but obviously someone at their record label(who knows more about music than we do) thought they had talent--and they have sold a sh*tload of records and have alot of fans. Just because you perfer Barry Manilow, doesnt mean you gotta down a band that has "made it" in the music world. Besides, you'd be lying if you told me you didnt own a Nickelback CD or have never downloaded Nickelback mp3s.

As far as Uwe Boll goes, most of his movies are "Scifi" channel quality, but he's not throwing 100 mil into the damn thing either.
I admire the guy, and his "F*ck Off" mentality towards his overly negative reviews. I like the way he will challenge a critic to a fight. Alot of the critics dont review Boll's work anymore---they just base everything on their opinion of BOLL HIMSELF. They kinda act like a bunch of high school girls with their noses in the air. But he would rather actions speak louder than words--if the critics are better men than him, then they can prove it in a fight.
By the way, did you actually see Postal? I did. And you know what? It was hilarious. You'd be surprised what you might like if you keep an open mind and stop relying on the opinions of the media.

Sorry, it's trash. Just because I picked on one of your pet bands doesn't make my opinion invalid. I've only, fortunately, suffered thru Nickelback while occasionally while flipping thru the radio or tv or while at a store. They have fans and that's a sad commentary on how people enjoy only what's safe. You can go ahead with ad hominems about Barry Manilow and such but it only negates any logic that might happen to crawl into your post inadvertently.

I've never seen Postal. I don't have to see every movie he's made to know he needs to throw in the towel. I've seen two. I gave him and second chance, and it was called Bloodrayne. After that lobotomy of a movie I actually thought about purchasing a nickelback mp3 but managed to resist. Seriously, I've seen scifi Viper vs. Boa type movies that were better. Children of Dune was massively better with a much lower budget than any of Boll's movies. Now, if you think Transformers was the end all, be all of movies then I can see tolerating such things. But if you explore outside of blockbuster bottle feeding to foreign, art films, etc. you might see that there's more to movies than entertainment. Sure, I'll watch Clash of the Titans every once in a while just for giggles, but I have no illusions about its artistic merit.

Seriously though, challenge a critic to a fight? That's like telling your boss you'll race him to keep your job when you haven't made a sale in a month. It's like the IQ challenged jock that can't deal with debate and beats people up until one day he tries it and ends up in jail for 20 years. How about Boll just puts up in his medium? Is it too much to ask for a director not to be nice, not to be ballsy, but just direct? Nothing else matters. It's all fail.

A Matter Of Trust: What The Game Industry Should Do To Win Gamers Back

Skewed and Reviewed have written an Opinion Piece covering issues in the gaming industry, how current issues were issues years ago, and what can be done to help restore consumer trust.

anast1d 2h ago

Nothing. It's up to the gamers to stop consuming content from companies that they don't agree with.

Garethvk12h ago

How do you know if you agree with it or not unless you play it? Which without conventions forces gamers to rely on trailers. Perhaps Demos should be made more frequently. But companies need to do better as well.

anast12h ago

Wait until release. Watch Gameplay. Exercise patience.

Garethvk12h ago

But is that not what they have now? Tons of gameplay or are you talking about watching actual gamers play it versus the trailers and streams? The big issue is that some companies pay streamers and influencers and they create content but for me; that is hardly a fair, unbiased, and factual look at a game.

Get rid of the suits in the industry and job done!!

Garethvk12h ago

They usually are attached to the money sadly. It would be nice to have gamers in charge but you have so much money invested that business people are needed. Hence the issue; you need people who know business but are also gamers who know have an eye to the community. It sounds simple in theory that if you give gamers quality games that they want to play; money will be made. But that is not always so.
