This is stupid and not true. A black page consumes as much energy as a white one, its all in how monitors are designed. They are thinking of introducing an alpha portion to each pixel in an lcd screen to make this true, but it currently isnt.

this is bs since, the pixels are still energized, this would only be true for OLED displays.

I swear google actually did this once, and then underneath had an explanation saying that it used as much energy.

I'm no expert, but if I assume the power consumption of a LCD is constant, the extra light from a white screen vs. a black screen must come from extra energy, right? Just a little thought on the whole energy equation since you can't get something out of nothing. Unless in a black screen the LCD gives out more heat/radiation vs. the white? = energy wasted?

While the CRT monitors, do in fact use less energy when diplaying black, LCD displays are using more energy! That's because the natural colour for the LCD to be diplayed is white, anything other than that costs extra power- and black is most power consuming. Everything is relative, eh?
