The original Final Fantasy came to the United States in 1990 and is universally regarded as one of the most influential games of all time. It is credited with bringing role playing games to the masses especially in the U.S. Also, the title is derived from the fact that Square was facing bankruptcy and this was going to be there last release. Final Fantasy may have saved a company and introduced Americans to RPGs but after a quarter of a century how does it hold up?
