'Without Far Cry 2, there would be no Watch Dogs’: Ubisoft Montreal on Watch Dogs

Edge: "There are systems governing traffic flow, morality, the way witnesses react, the way police pursue, how NPCs treat suspicious events, and how those same characters react to car crashes or a drawn gun. There are systems governing the salary, career and clothing of every civilian in Watch Dogs’ Chicago, and ones governing the way those people behave when protagonist Aiden Pearce interrupts their daily routines."

Watch_Dogs actually reminds me a whole lot of the very first footage that came out for Splinter Cell Conviction, where Sam Fisher looked like a hobo and was on the run.

After the negative feedback 'Hobo Sam' got, Ubisoft kinda went back to the drawing board with that one, but perhaps some ideas and certainly a bit of that look transferred over to Watch_Dogs.

This was a good read, at least they understood where far cry 2 went wrong. I personally didn't hate far cry 2 it had some nice ideas but was disappointing in a lot of areas

Im surprised that Watch-Dogs isnt a Tom Clancy game, given the relevant themes found in the Tom Clancy Series.

I suppose The Division is sorta like Watch_Dogs

lets_go_gunners3676d ago

Funny cause I hated Far Cry 2 XD. Worse 30 dollars ever.

WeAreLegion3676d ago

As long as it doesn't play like FarCry 2, I'm happy.

I just hate repetitive zone clearing like in Far Cry 3 and Infamous 2nd Son. At least Black Flag had different things and naval battle. But the same repetitive actions over and over to clear a zone is horrible.

OhMyGandhi3676d ago (Edited 3676d ago )

I disagree.
Clearing outposts in Far Cry 3 was some of the most fun to be had in a videogame. So many options.
I absolutely treasured them, and hated it when all were "cleared" of baddies.

ironfist923676d ago

There's an option to reset the outposts I'm pretty sure, so you can enjoy liberating outposts once more.

spicelicka3676d ago

Farcry 2 i agree with, specially because they reset every time and you couldn't travel properly without being constantly interrupted by them.

Farcry 3 though, did it right. I loved the different approaches you could take, it felt great killing everyone with stealth without ringing the alarm, or shooting a tiger cage with a sniper and watching it clear everyone out. Farcry 3 was just a brilliant game, i was so mad that just because it was released in December they didn't include it in the VGAs and a lot of other awards.

All of them have repetitive things. But i prefer Second son repetitive stuff :P . If you remove them then the game will be empty. They all need to find other stuff to make us feel like we explore not finding the same stuff.

However , loved the paintings in Second son especially the cats :D . It have it's own feeling :P

Loved FarCry 2! If you in SA you would understand.

New Game of Thrones Video Game In Development

Gravemaster writes: "Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire is a successful franchise, but it hasn’t had much luck when it comes to video games. Many were released, but only the one from Telltale games received more or less recognition and it was cancelled after one season anyway. Now, we have news of another Game of Thrones game in development."
