Review: Kinect Sports Rivals shows what the Xbox One’s Kinect is capable of - Canada

Kinect Sports Rivals isn’t going to win any awards and it hasn’t accomplished Rare and Microsoft’s lofty goal of winning over hardcore gamers. On the bright side, if you go into the game with realistic expectations and just want a fun collection of Kinect mini-games to play with friends, you’ll have a great time with Rivals.

This game looks fun for what it is.
You know whatd be cool? A horror game utilizing the kinects ability to read heart rate and reaction time.

incendy354077d ago

I think that would be fun too. Also like to see AI respond to players expressions, that could lead to some pretty immersive situations.

UnHoly_One4077d ago

I've never been a supporter of the Kinect, but I might pick this up whenever MS decides to put it on sale digitally for a couple days like they've been doing with all of their other XB1 games.

I gotta believe I could get 40 dollars worth of entertainment out of it, not to mention a little exercise never hurts.

Hell, I'd probably get my money's worth just having Kinect make a character out of me and my girlfriend.

mcstorm4077d ago

If this is anything like the 1st 2 Kinect sports games it will be a lot of fun. I got the 1st two for the family and they loved it. I'm not picking this one up though as we have a wiiu for the family now but if you don't have a wiiu but have an Xbox one defo worth a look at.

I think having a discussion with a character in Mass Effect would be a worthy goal with Kinect. Imagine the Character "recognizing" you and addressing you by name.

kneon4077d ago

Except that can be done with any Web cam, and in fact is unnecessary since the system already knows who you are when you logged in.

Belasco4077d ago

I was talking about in game, and I was referring to voice. Do you even understand what I was getting at or did your "Kinect sucks" defenses automatically go up?

kneon4077d ago (Edited 4077d ago )

I didn't say kinect sucks, just that it's not necessary for what you are suggesting. Which actually makes it more likely to be implemented since it would work across platforms

DJustinUNCHAIND4077d ago

So now that we know what Canada thinks, what about the rest of the world?

koliosis4077d ago

Going to buy this and lose tons of weight!!!!

No_Limit4077d ago (Edited 4077d ago )

Getting this tomorrow. Going to be a fun party game with the Kinect. This and the Killer Instinct Story mode on the 9th, will be a good week.

Would you say absolutely horrible hyperbole? :D

4Sh0w2926d ago (Edited 2926d ago )

Halo 5?....pffft to each his own but Halo 5 is a great game, every Xbox owner I know enjoyed it, the campaign was nice I like the teamwork concept and the multiplayer keeps 'em coming back with great gameplay & modes so much content, 343 did a helluva job.

Christopher2926d ago

@4Show: Uh... going to assume that's a comment intended for someone else.

spicelicka2926d ago

Not Halo 5. It had a bad story COMPARED to past games but it didn't have a bad story overall. The gameplay was top notch, and multiplayer is still one of the best on the market right now. Custom games browser is the single greatest thing 343 did which I'm grateful for.

ninsigma2926d ago

Nah it really was a bad campaign. MP was great but seriously, that was a hugely terrible story mode.

spicelicka2925d ago

The story maybe, but some of the missions were extremely fun. The Sangehlios ones are right up there with the best missions in the franchise.

Kingthrash3602926d ago

Halos mp was great but became boring quicker than most.
The story. Naw that was bad and it's marketing was a lie. Made it seem like old master chief was gunna fight that new fake master chief but the conflict ended up being a one punch cgi sequence.
Not to mention fighting the same boss over and over and over....plus add the no split screen mp and whala! You got the worst canon halo ever made

brich2332926d ago

Compared to Halo 4, Halo 5's story was trash and not memorable at all.

ninsigma2925d ago

That's not really saying much though cuz that was pretty bad as well.

ninsigma2925d ago

Agreed on sanghelios. That was one of the very few times it actually felt like halo.

And another article with 15 items from this website *shakes head*

MadLad2926d ago

Halo 5, FarCry 2, Dragon Age 2, Nuts and Bolts, and Gears of War: Judgement were all far from bad games. Hell, even Crackdown 2 was pretty fun.

There's a difference between a lesser sequel, and a bad game.

rlow12925d ago

With a Title that says "horrible sequels", most of these are far from that. Better title should be disappointing sequels. But I'm sure they went with the former to get clicks and bring in the fanboys.
