It’s been a whirlwind of video game news from Amazon. First, they released their Fire TV set-top box that can also play games and second, added Metacritic scores to their video game listings. They later removed the scores after realizing how bad they will be for Fire TV games. The sneak peek at upcoming games for the Fire TV has fallen flat with hardcore gamers. Even casual gamers seem unimpressed but that has not deterred Amazon Games vice president Mike Frazzini from pushing gaming even harder on the Fire TV. However, he does admit that Amazon will make a few mistakes along the way.
Amazon has spent the last 15 years plus trying to disrupt Steam's gaming market, but have ultimately failed to "crack the code."
If you're an active Amazon Prime member, here's a big collection of games you can grab for free right now for your Steam Deck or gaming PC.
First-party Nintendo games have not been available on Amazon US for months.
The beef is that Amazon wants a higher percentage of the sales of Nintendo games. That's the beef. Same thing they pulled with Sony and Disney blu-ray movies.
Nope. If anything it's gotten worse in recent months as you can't get digital gift cards for the Switch in the US anymore.
"“We can make it happen. We have the money and the connections. I’m sure some people at Metacritic can help us out."
For a second I thought Amazon plans on paying off a lot of reviewers then I saw "P4rgaming.com."
Are these quotes for real?
For those who don't know, P4rgaming is a satire site.
“We bought Double Helix, hired Kim Swift and Clint Hocking so we’re pretty much on track to becoming the next Nintendo,” continued Frazzini, “My idea is that we get them to work together to make a game that is like Killer Instinct combined with Portal and Splinter Cell. People tell me those are good games so combining them will clearly make a better one. Just from the sound of it, I am picturing it to be a multimillion seller.”
Amazon has to be aware that that their games that any game they offer isn't going to be on par with the likes of Infamouns or even COD.
