Developers Releasing Game and Novels- New Trend?

Fans of post apocalyptic games should be rejoicing as there are several new games/mods in development(i.e. The Seed, CryZone: NEYA-7, Survarium, etc.). However, the Vostok developers have just announced they are not only going to release their FPS game Survarium, but Survarium novels as well.
