This was an interesting and very good interview. The future of VR is bright and I'm very happy about this. I think both the RIft and Project Morpheus will be successful. And within the next few years I am sure we will see more players enter the VR scene as well.
I would be interested in some 3D filming for live events. Can you imagine a UFC Event where you could literally look around as if you were there? Plus you could zoom in, maybe even get cageside. It would be an unreal experience for sure. Plus there are other sports out there too, I guess.
I found this comment interesting:
"This also happened with DOOM back in 1993— people got sick playing it, even though it was just on a screen. Our generation has been raised on 3D graphics, so we don’t have a problem anymore. Put someone older in front of Call of Duty and they’re going to feel sick."
I kind of forgot about that, but it's true, there were a lot of people that got sick in the early days of geometrically 3D games and FPSs. But gamers adapted. Now we're totally used to it. Personally, I never have gotten sick using the Rift, but I know people who have. There's some individuality involved there for sure, but I believe as the technology progresses and gamers get used to it we won't see so many see as many reports of simulator sickness.
Great interview, thanks for sharing!
Those screenshots are killer. Can't believe this comes from a three-person team.
Also love: "Polished VR content is really beautiful… unpolished content is just frightening."
When will this be released?
