The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Pre-Order Bonus Revealed, Wii U not Included

Activision European Publishing today unveiled the pre-order bonus for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC, but not for Wii U. Web-heads who buy the game early through GAME will receive the Web Threads Suit Pack, a DLC bundle making available four sleek, and super-powered suits for Spidey’s wardrobe on launch day.

No one cares. Batman.

Just kidding, hopefully this game doesn't disappoint like every single other one (except S2 and US).
The web slinging mechanics seem promising, not sure about the visuals or the rest of the game.

XisThatKid4070d ago

Don't Worry Ninty players you guys don't need this is just astetics. not like it's gameplay differences and such.

KonsoruMasuta4070d ago

But you can play as symbiotic Spider-Man!

rdgneoz34069d ago

May just be aesthetics, but sad for people that put down money on a system that devs are either passing over or not even releasing DLC (pre-order or future content) on when every other system gets it.

SteamPowered4070d ago

Yeah, this game didn't quite have the hype behind it as the new Arkham Knight reveal.

SilentNegotiator4069d ago (Edited 4069d ago )

Except the entire game of the next Batman isn't included on Wii U. So I suspect that Wii U owners DO sorta care.

It's from Beenox again, though - so really, no one SHOULD care. Their best spider-man games are average and their worst are total crap.

Concertoine4069d ago

But its clear the next batman is focused on the more powerful hardware. If they cant even port last gen games right, getting next gen ports up and running is probably too much to ask.

eaise4070d ago

I was looking forward to playing this game in my Wii U. Heck I was gonna pre-order it. But why are is Activision not giving us a simple costume pack. Those costumes all look really cool, and probably have their own unique abilities. Is it really that hard to add four costumes to the Wii U version? They already did it for ALL the other systems. It's not too much to ask for equal treatment. C'mon Activision!

DryBoneKoopa854070d ago

Right there with you. They COULD do it but they won't.

At this point I guess Wii U owners (including myself) will have to hope and wait and see if these costumes hit the Eshop at a later date.

eaise4070d ago

I may just end up waiting till later in the year to get the game. If they had given us a simple costume pack I wouldn't have dropped my pre-order. But now I feel that I can just wait for a price drop since they obviously don't care about Wii U owners

lizard812884069d ago

I have a feeling all of the DLC will be skipping the Wiiu, because wiiu? I have no idea why something simple wouldn't be in the game. Then again, Activision is pretty bad with DLC on the Wiiu. IIRC, this happened to CoD as well, with no pre-order bonuses IIRC, it was the zombie DLC and map packs....and guess which version didn't sell. Devs/Pubs need to stop shooting themselves in the foot in terms of sales. If all version but the Wiiu are getting DLC, that would mean most people will pass up the Wiiu version because it is inferior.

Alex_Boro4070d ago

Nintendo needs to really start kissing 3rd party's a-holes and offer them some cash to bring it on par with other platforms.

Metallox4070d ago

According to many Ninty fans, the company doesn't need to be on par with other platforms in terms of third party support, which is pathetic.

Alex_Boro4070d ago

I know. I love my Wii U, but we can't just rely on Nintendo. The droughts are way too long and we go with like 3-6 months without games to play. There isn't even one game coming out for the Wii U this month and every other platform is getting great games this month. That's why I own a pc and ps4 in addition to my Wii U. If you only have a Wii U I feel bad for you.

Gemmol4069d ago (Edited 4069d ago )

They dont, look at Gamecube and N64 low console sales, but they made a ton of profit because Nintendo dont sell their system for a loss. Its only this gen Nintendo follow Sony and sell their system for a loss while hoping other things help bring them profit. If Nintendo follow Sony and do it again for their next system, Sony might come back and be worth more then Nintendo, but then again ps4 selling at a loss too.

so yeah the Ninty fans are right they do not need 3rd party as Sony/Xbox but it would be nice to have them. Sony/Xbox first party do not sell as much as Nintendo first party. Look at all their games, beside Halo, Gran Tursimo only games to sell over 10 million, so the rest of sales come from 3rd party....for example Mario Kart Wii sold 30 something million under 100 million wii consoles while Grand Theft sold 29 million under 160 million consoles.....

This is why 3rd parties need Sony/Xbox cause theirs no competition for them

check everything if you do not believe, but its like I said before it would be nice for Nintendo to have 3rd party support but if they do not like competition from Nintendo first party then so be it

lizard812884069d ago

IIRC, the ONLY game coming out this month for the Wiiu is ShovelKnight

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory4070d ago

Why waste money on backstabbers

They don't want support then so be it

Unique Library is better than have the same.

LOL_WUT4069d ago

This right here is the reason why Nintendo doesn't get 3rd party support. ;)

Alex_Boro4069d ago (Edited 4069d ago )

So you're saying you don't want more games for the Wii U? Nintendo fanboys have to stop being so stubborn.

ZeekQuattro4069d ago

I agree. Nintendo shouldn't have to cough up money to get a 3rd company to fully support their own game releases on the Wii U.

MasterCornholio4069d ago (Edited 4069d ago )

Well they say that Nintendo fans only buy Nintendo games because they are "intelligent consumers".

;)

3rd party supports matters more than what you think. I remember that Nintendo fans were going crazy over the watchdogs cancellation rumors which shows that they care about 3rd party support to a certain degree.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory4069d ago (Edited 4069d ago )

@Alex_Boro

More doesn't mean better.

SNES vs Genesis.

SNES securing almost all Japanese Devs at the time. More people choose SNES for offering a different and unique library.

There a reason Vita is holding it's ground against Nintendo 3DS in Japan. The Library for both aren't the same one bit.

Different library separates system from others. It give people a reason to own more system.

I own both 3DS and Vita and all 7th gen system. X360 mainly for the JRPG exclusives and better Bayonetta.

Wii U is my own 8th gen system because of it exclusives games. Neithers PS4 or Xbone impress me. Despite playing a PS4 at a friend house.

@MasterCornholio

I buy exclusives! Main reason I play games!
I don't support western publishers. Their ways of creating games aren't interesting. Japanese Games is what I strive for no matter how niche media make them out to be.

madjedi4069d ago (Edited 4069d ago )

Lol backstabbing, such butthurt. But hey it's the 5th or 6th alt account you have created, so not surprised.

@zeek Well then nintendo will continue to be basically irrelevant for most western devs, because of said decisions. Japanese devs aren't exactly breaking the door down asking to make wii u games either.

Some of the comments on here would make neff and noobasaur from gaf proud, my favorite is the exclusive or gtfo mentality shown. Like nintendo or it's fans have any kind of leverage over 3rd parties.

It's not like you guys buy third party games anyway, so really what is the loss to the major devs, missing out on the 1 or 2% of sales the wii u versions do.

lizard812884069d ago

As much as I don't like Activision, they are still a major publisher. The more the better. Nintendo needs to do something about 3rd parties. Hopefully with them acquiring companies, this will fix the issue

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory4069d ago (Edited 4069d ago )

@madjedi
Does it make you feel good? Do you get any benefit from it?
Having another account to fit my current self.
Otaku = Completed over 150 since Feb. 2013. Anime
DJK1NG = my Nintendo Network and PSN ID. Gaming

It very sad your only argument is butthurt and my numerous account.

But I guess I went overboard using logic.

Geekman4070d ago

I mean nothing by this, but if the Wii U is the "Kiddy" console, wouldn't it make more sense to put the costume to go with it?

AnEwGuY4069d ago

WiiU is clearly on the poster that's promoting the pre-order, so I'd say there's been some miscommunication somewhere. If they don't get it cleared up before the game releases, WiiU fans could rightfully cry false advertisement.

ZeekQuattro4069d ago

I didn't even notice that. Bubble up to you most astute one.

Justindark4069d ago (Edited 4069d ago )

ive seen that too. but if it does not come out can we really blame the nintendo gamers for it having the lowest sales? why should we buy it on wii u when we can buy it on our other consoles with free costumes? and ppl wounder why nintendo gamers dont buy crap like this.

madjedi4069d ago

And yet w101 bombed spectacularly, despite nintendo fans refined tastes.

eaise4069d ago

That is just saying the game is coming to Wii U. The fine print at the bottom say the pre-order is only for certain consoles. And then lists the consoles it is for and the Wii U is left out.

AnEwGuY4069d ago (Edited 4069d ago )

You don't get it. The ad/poster was designed specifically for the pre-order promotion. It's a GameStop ad, not a publisher promoting their upcoming game. If the WiiU is being excluded from the promotion, it should only be mentioned in the "fine print at the bottom". The fine print should read "Game also coming to WiiU; not part of pre-order promotion". The way they worded it, not actually excluding the WiiU by name, it would be logical to assume it was an error by omission, since the WiiU is clearly represented in the ad....2 times, in fact. There's a WiiU game case, and the WiiU logo further down. Nowhere in the ad does it actually say "not for WiiU".

Beenox on the Trials and Tribulations of Developing a Spider-Man Game

OnlySP spoke to Beenox co-studio head and creative director Thomas Wilson about the company’s work on Spider-Man games. Between 2001 and 2007, Beenox did not develop a single original game. Instead, the studio worked as a porting house. Beenox’s experience with movie tie-ins led to the studio’s original work on The Bee Movie in 2007 and Monsters vs. Aliens in 2009, and its experience porting Spider-Man games resulted in the studio being handed the reigns to develop original Spider-Man titles in 2010.

CarlDechance2420d ago

Nice read. Wilson's candor is refreshing. He flat out says Activision did not give Beenox the budget, resources, or the time they needed. Really is too bad Activision squandered their opportunities with the Spider-man franchise. They could have made some really great games. Activision being Activision.

Mister-Zay2420d ago

I wonder if we could have gotten better Destiny games if Bungie didn't go to Activision.

Profchaos2420d ago

Undoubtedly the quality would be much higher

UltraNova2420d ago

Activision's quick buck -low quality policy at its best. No wonder the first Spiderman game made by a competent dev with all the time and money needed turned out to be a stellar game overall that did justice to the source material...

Profchaos2420d ago

Activision being activision they dismantled neversoft probably the best studio they ever owned and they ran spiderman, Tony hawk, guitar hero and debeatably cod into the ground.

They have had a number of mega ips in their stable but they continue to pump out uninspired sequals for them until everyone grows tired.

Happy to see spiderman get another life with insomniac.

shuvam092420d ago (Edited 2420d ago )

Always felt the same...
Beenox Spidey games felt like they put effort into it...
But we all know that Activision is no Sony when it comes to budget, expectation and patience for these type of games...

Always felt bad for this team. They did a lot of things right, but Activision screwed them over at every turn.

Don’t forget about Spider Man 2 The PC Version which is worse than the console version. Web of Shadow PS2 version is also the worse than PS3/X360.

Edito2425d ago

It's just me or the title is misleading?

UnSelf2425d ago

at first read it appears so, but no it's grammatically sound

Inzo2425d ago

Best Spider Man game to date has to be Spider Man 2.
Worst Spider Man game to date I will have to go with The Amazing Spider Man 2.

vork772425d ago

i like The Amazing Spider-Man 1 game

antz11042425d ago

Me too, totally doesnt belong on the list.

GoldeneyeOO72425d ago

The absolute WORST Spider Man game is, by far, the PSVR installment. I'd have more fun playing with dog shit than that game.
