Look at the lighting when they get off the elavater in the second video.

Rick Astley6246d ago

That's what I said Bill. I am truly speechless.

@jwatt: Killzone 2 has the best lighting engine ever made for a console.

Timesplitter146246d ago

Yeah. And the shotty has an impressive range too, which is awesome

theKiller6246d ago

but they need to make the AI harder a bit, or that it takes more shots to die, plus i dont want to play i dont know maybe 20 hours all in a ruined city i wanna go to mountains forest, beach etc, to give it variety, i know its suppose to be a thriller game but they can still make a thriller game in the jungle and mountains!! i really need to see other surprises, this dark games and hiding in building etc the market is full of it example COD4 so i need them to bring something new and refreshing in the shooter genre! i think they have surprises because they tool so long time and with a huge budget so they should more surprises!! if the game is going to be all in the helgans cities then i would be really disappointed, helgans forces is not only in cities in fact most of the country forces r outside the cities!

solidt126246d ago (Edited 6246d ago )

Wow that looks just like CG. I can't believe my own eyes. I want this game now. All these videos are teasing me.

Phil Harrison Mklll6246d ago

yeah looks like the 1st video we saw :P cant wait to play this :)

resistance1006246d ago

The first one covered the Swamp's, beach and more without wreaking the atmosphere, so im sure there will be variation in this one as well.

Mu5afir6246d ago

I am getting more and more impressed with the cover system. Really, it just works.

theKiller6246d ago

what i wanted to say is graphics the best i saw till now but whats more important is the gameplay and there is so many shooter games out int the market and in order for KZ2 so deliver on its promise it needs to deliver on the gameplay too and and bring new gameplay and features, and i want to see more colors than just darks colors, am not saying the dark colors is bad but it will be better to include more colors!

Fat Bastard6246d ago

You do realize this doesn't take place on earth right? It takes place on Helghast, which may not have mountains and beaches and forrests. This planet is very grey, which is why you haven't seen a bunch of colors. It isn't a futuristic earth though, so you can't expect it to be like one

syanara6246d ago

thats not his point his point is that it should have those other areas even if its not on earth. I think it will though

prowiew6246d ago

This game is looking better than ever. Must buy for me just for the graphics. Need to work on the AI though.

AuToFiRE6246d ago

almost what i said, but witha bit more umph in it like "O...M....F...G"

Condoleezza Rice6246d ago

I really do think the animations in this game are absolutely unmatched, the fluidity of it all is just...Wow.

I never thought they could match the now infamous E3 2005 trailer, but with the way it looks now and having over 5 more months of development,I really do believe Sony and Guerrilla are going to shut up all the naysayers

Rick Astley6246d ago (Edited 6246d ago )

I have to be honest here I didn't think they'd be able to get this much out the PS3 so soon but as far the graphics and animations go, Guerilla have officially over-delivered on their promise and things will only get better from here on out. They've got more than enough time to fix any issues they might be having.

Crysis looks amazing but it has that typical PC game look to it. Killzone 2 is bringing a much more cinematic experience.

And the crazy part is they said they have a lot more to improve graphically lol.

Yipee Bog6246d ago

I haven't seen anything, except crysis, that is in the same ballpark. The textures=great, the lighting=great, frame rate=great. I did originally buy a ps3 for this, seriously. But seeing these videos just, well I don't know what to say. How about awesome.

permutated6246d ago

Great graphics for sure! But the AI is absolutely awful.

If you stood out (in COD4) the open like he did in the first video, you would have been blown to smithereens, but in this game they don't even notice you. He had 5-10 seconds to pickup a gun, aim, and blowup the bridge.

Ugh, count me out, this game is just a graphics-fest and nothing else.

cartman3136246d ago

@ Permutated... I was going to go off and laugh at your ignorance and be a complete jerk just cause... Figured it wouldn't be the best thing to do so here... Put this thought into your head. What you saw, could possibly be on easy easy mode. So there you go.

permutated6246d ago (Edited 6246d ago )

Generally a demo shows off impressive updates to AI, when you look at Games like COD4 which has pretty impressive AI vs. games like Gears Of War, which gave the AI more health at harder difficulties (which was really horrid in all honesty), it makes you wonder how many developers cut corners.

About Killzone 2: It makes no difference to me whether or not it was on easy mode, point is that he stood out in the open and no one shot at him for quite some time, that's fairly bad AI, not to mention how many of the enemies stand out from cover or lean out when they're being fired at. Makes no sense, regardless of difficulty setting.

Oh, and my opinion is completely valid about what I don't like about the Killzone 2 demos we've seen, just because you disagree doesn't automatically make your opinion right.

Skizelli6246d ago (Edited 6246d ago )

I'd have to agree with permutated. The game looks most impressive, but as I was watching the videos, the AI didn't impress me at all. I was more engrossed in the environments and special effects than the actual combat itself, which seems to be pretty bland. And I do hope that's an easy setting. It's easy to get excited over pretty graphics, but gameplay is what really counts, and the jury is still out on that one. If I really want to nitpick, I could also mention that the voice acting leaves something to be desired. Though, I'm a fan of the original Resident Evil, among other games with horrible voice acting, so I'm willing to overlook this. The animations are really nice, except for that one part where his gun magically appears in his hand after helping his comrade up. No animation for that? It's things like these that can take from the experience (for me).

And I'm in no way putting the game down. These are just a few of my observations as a fan of the FPS genre. My final judgment is still reserved. It just might be a great game. Here's hoping.

fenix13006246d ago

well there was an article a few days back on this site about them enlisting a guy to work on the AI, an AI specialist if you will. plus if you noticed on the vids it said pre alpha code. so don't believe that this represents the final AI. as for now I can honestly agree with you guys about the AI.

Condoleezza Rice6246d ago (Edited 6246d ago )

Ok,I think right now it's pretty safe to say that KZ2 is the best looking console title to date, period.

Edit @Kami: lol,you know,a few months ago I would disagree with you. Now,with the way this game is shaping up,I find it to be near impossible to disagree

Kami6246d ago (Edited 6246d ago )

i think this game, with all the time that it still has for development, is going to grab crysis by the nuts(graphicwise)

LinuxGuru6246d ago

Very well put Kami, very well put.

Yipee Bog6246d ago

At least sack it in the nuts

xhi46246d ago (Edited 6246d ago )

okay so with 9 months left for development, and it already looking like a CGI movie I'm absolutely gobsmacked!

simply incredible!

and they say Eight Days looks better than CG animation too, n imagine how the getaway 3 will look being better than it's tech demo..............simply wow.

Zhuk6246d ago

Looks mediocre like the first one I think I will save my money for Gears of War 2 or any of the other AAA titles coming out on Xbox 360 at least I know I am assured of quality then

iceice1236246d ago

That AI and voice acting leaves much to be desired, especially that AI.

digger186246d ago

oh, someone sounds insecure and jealous

Rick Astley6246d ago (Edited 6246d ago )

Whenever you see Zhuk or Icewake just take away their bubbles. A disagree is not enough. These fools are in so much denial right now it's not even funny. Gears 2 has some of the worst animations I've seen this gen. They look robotic and the graphics look the same as the first one.

hokageof20096246d ago

that will occur once ur xbox can handle the output this game uses and starts a fire bc the microsoft engine cant live off of a warn out game lke gears and halo anymore so sorry u need to trade all ur games and ur green latern system back to gamestop or get left behind playing a gears 456789 and 10 for the rest of u life lol

Why Guerrilla Games Shouldn't Abandon the Killzone Series

Hugely disappointingly, it seems that Guerrilla Games, developers of the Killzone and Horizon series, may be done with Killzone for good.

IAMRealHooman243d ago

1 was fine, overhyped as a " halo" killer
2 was a graphical beast at the time, and felt heavy
3 was good a refinement of 2 but not much else. weird audio issues environment were to quiet
shadow fall was pretty but bland

OtterX243d ago (Edited 243d ago )

Shadowfall had great Multiplayer though. Too bad the campaign was meh at best. It did have the occasional great moment sprinkled in.

TheNamelessOne243d ago (Edited 243d ago )

I played through 2/3 multiple times. I played through the original once, but it felt pretty lukewarm for me. I couldn't be bothered to beat Shadow Fall. I got a couple hours in and just went "I'm done". Never touched it again. It was awesome on the tech side, being a launch title, but it didn't even match up to the first game when it came to actually having fun playing it.

Rude-ro243d ago

3 in 3d was an amazing experience to be had.
Although not many experienced it as intended for good reasons.

just_looken243d ago

You forgot the ai advancements on the playstation 2 killzone one you could have a full team of bots doing everything even playing the objective that was a big thing.

In killzone 2 they always flanked you and when available used the high ground.

Playing killzone 2 no hud 5.1 audio was/is awesome

MDTunkown243d ago

They should finish Horizon story first

darthv72243d ago

I dont mind if someone else takes up the mantle for the KZ franchise. We are several years removed from the first game. It certainly could use a remake to gauge interest in the rest of the series. I know it has its fans... Im thinking of how a proper reboot can rekindle that old dormant flame and bring in a new generation of fans in the process.

just_looken243d ago

You forgot killzone mercenaries on the ps vita but it was the worst selling sony game for awhile there.

Yui_Suzumiya242d ago

Yeah, a remake would be pretty awesome

anast243d ago

They should let it go or sell it. No use spending millions on this project.

LucasRuinedChildhood243d ago

Would like a new IP before Horizon 3. Just because games take so long to make these days.

PlayStation 3 Games That Desperately Need a PS5 Remaster

The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.

Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!

Rude-ro472d ago

I played killzone 3 in 3d and it really changed the game per being immersive.
In vr, that would be even more awesome.

darthv72472d ago

Funny you mention that... my son wanted to play some PS3 games in 3d on my PS tv and he was blown away by how good KZ3 was. It really was a great addition to the game. Im surprised there have not been more 3d games from that era being ported to the PSVR/VR2.

_SilverHawk_472d ago

resistance 1-3, killzone 1-3, uncharted 1-3, uncharted golden abyss, folklore, socom 4 , motorstorm, twisted metal, MAG, heavenly sword

Cacabunga472d ago

Killzone 2+3
Sly Thieves in Time
Crack in Time
God of War Ascension
Motorstorm
Modnation racer
Infamous 1+2

Profchaos472d ago (Edited 472d ago )

Killzone trilogy in VR would be amazing bonus points if they offer shadow fall.

There was a psvr1 Killzone project that supermassive was working on at one stage which wasn't up to scratch and Sony brand it back in house I was hoping we would see that on psvr2 eventually.

Personally I'd love to see some more love or acknowledgement of psvr2 from Sony in general it was a expensive headset and Sony barely acknowledge it's existence

seanpitt23472d ago

The amount of work needed to remaster these games wouldn't be beneficial on a financial and business sense.. MGS4 would probably be the best bet as it would need the least amount of work!

Iceball2000472d ago

YEAAASSSSS! I miss this franchise and wanna play it so bad again.

Father__Merrin472d ago

The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer

InUrFoxHole472d ago

The resistance series is str8 trash to me. Socom 3 I would welcome. Or killzone MP.

Marcus Fenix472d ago

A Resistance reboot will be awesome

Michiel1989472d ago

That's what Bungie should make, Ill keep saying it until it happens

1Victor472d ago (Edited 472d ago )

Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱

472d ago
Michiel1989472d ago

Resistance was the best co-op fps I ever played after L4D2

Up there with the top tier in the industry. Love Guerrilla Games - Horizon Burning Shores is simply STUNNING.

1Victor776d ago

Can’t wait for their next franchise

SullysCigar776d ago

Same. They nailed it with Horizon. The trouble is I also want a new Killzone! Can't I just have it all?!

jznrpg776d ago

I’m with you I want Horizon 3 , Killzone and new IPs

badz149775d ago

I have yet to play Burning Shores as I just started Forbidden West (bought at launch, just unwrapped last weekend LOL) and playing on PS5.

man...I still can't believe the graphics especially now I'm playing it on my LG OLED. that graphics and with stable performance backing it up, GG really is the master of their craft!

Vengeance1138776d ago

32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III

Shane Kim776d ago

That's kind of a huge drop though. It's only been two games.

VersusDMC776d ago

One year after realease HZD sold 7.6 million.

https://www.noobfeed.com/ne...

So not a drop off.

Unless you're saying a HFW should have sold as much now as HZD sold in 5 years?

Vengeance1138776d ago

It's been 3 games, this includes Call of the Mountain. Also no, its a great improvement over HZD.

solideagle776d ago

lol you are comparing:

HZD: 28 February 2017 - May 2023 (6 years+)

HFW: 18 February 2022 - May 2023 (1 year+)

We will see if it surpass original number.

Phoenix76776d ago

@shane, 2 full main games, 2 DLC add ons, 1 VR spin off game, oh and a an official LEGO set.
Not too bad for an ip that's only been on market for 6 years

REDGUM776d ago

Wow, very impressive. I didn't know the numbers were so high for Forbidden West. Still playing through it myself

thesoftware730776d ago (Edited 776d ago )

Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.

I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.

blacktiger776d ago

thank you fps lover, I'm with you

talocaca776d ago

Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.

The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.

OzzY-waZZy776d ago (Edited 776d ago )

Kinda wish they move on from Horizon tbh.

lukasmain776d ago

They are probably working on mutiple projects. One of them is Horizon 3, but another is a multiplaer game and probably somehting else.

Imalwaysright776d ago

There were rumours that they were working on a Socom reboot.
