Evolve vs. Titanfall - The Next-Gen Multiplayer Match-Up

After hands-on time with both Evolve and Titanfall, Dusty Cartridge can’t help but think 2014 will be remembered as the year multiplayer gaming leveled up. Both offer an experience refreshingly unique, pitting players as either a monster or a titan, as a soldier or hunter. Unfortunately some of us can’t justify the purchase of two multiplayer-centric games, and will be restricted to playing just one. This is for those poor souls – a breakdown of how they stack up against each other, and which you should be breaking the piggy bank for.

And no, Dusty Cartridge has not played full versions of either game, but it’s clear each will appeal to a different type of player.

I will buy both as they are, pardon the pun "evolving" the MP FPS genre.

I really like the concept of Evolve and it looks really fun but after playing the TitanFall Beta if forced to buy only one it would be TitanFall.

Usually I only have room for one or two FPS titles in my library (or else I'll end up throwing grenades instead of aiming and all kinds of other silly shenanigans), but these two games might end up sharing the shelf together. I'm pretty excited for both of them.

KingDadXVI4136d ago

Yeah, I am the same way but Evolve does look like it has a really interesting twist on the FPS genre so I will have to get it and put up with those silly shenanigans and the cursing from my teammates when I screw up.

Plasticgearsolid4136d ago

To me Titanfall isn't an evolution to FPS. Evolve is though

Whats up with journalist's comparing everything?

Seems like the great debate of Halo Vs Killzone or the infamous rivalry of BF VS COD.

Has now branched off into other games its like come on why does one game need to be compared to another now?

Evolve from what I've seen looks ok at best. The games formula uses the L4D as the key thing here but I dunno maybe I have to see more. Everything just seems generic of sorts in the game.

Titanfall I'v played liked it allot and I have that paid off so I'm good.

wsoutlaw874136d ago

lol evolve, the game that is doing a different type of multiplier with 1v4 and a player controlled monster, is generic because it is like L4D- a game they made- but TF, which is cod with mechs that have been in other games like killzone, isnt?

JeffGUNZ4135d ago

COD with mechs just screams you never played the beta. Killzone is a laughing stock next to Titanfall. Stop trying downplay this game, it's great.

wsoutlaw874135d ago

you might like it but that doesnt make it less generic than evolve.

Hicken4135d ago

There is literally nothing going in in Titanfall that I haven't experienced in another game before. That doesn't mean it won't be fun for many, but I'm not interested like I once was.

Evolve sounds like something new. I, at least, have never heard of a game like it. Can't exactly see what's generic about it. I guess if you consider a PVP Lost Planet where the giant enemies are controlled by your friends, sure. But I don't think anybody else has looked at Evolve and thought "generic." Personally, I look forward to eating my friends.

Lol I love random troll comments they really push these conversations in the right direction.

saladthieves4136d ago

"Titanfall is last gen"

Wow... Even Don Draper couldn't be that terrible. About time I had someone trolling here. I could use some entertainment.

Chupa-Chupa4136d ago

You guys didn't let me finish, my laptop ran out of juice. It was meant to say " titan fall is last gen's answer to new gen, but only gen to last gen future of current gen divided by wii u gen and multiplied by x1 and gen is last to the new power.

Mini05104135d ago

Lmao at your justification.
No one stopped you from finishing. Obviously done on purpose

WeAreLegion4136d ago

There's room for both, obviously. I'm not getting Titanfall. The beta killed that hype for me. Millions will love it though! I'm very excited for Evolve.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad1018d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g1018d ago (Edited 1018d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

gurp418d ago

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games
