The mentality of fanboys explained - Sorted by console they support

You’re probably wondering the reasons why I have made separate posts championing each console. The truth is that it was part of an experiment to see how different sections of fanboys respond. So, if you were one of those who fell for our clickbait I thank you. I shall try to explain the mindset of each fanboy in this post by console they support. Some of you may be able to relate, whilst some of you may be infuriated at the suggestions I make. I will list each set of fanboy in order of aggression, starting with the most aggressive and vocal first.

I can easily explain my mentality on console choices. PC is my favorite because it's so free. You can mod all you want, enhance graphics all you want, use pretty much any control scheme you want, etc. PlayStation comes next, because they hold the most exclusive games I enjoy playing. Not to mention most of my friends own a PlayStation 3/4. Nintendo used to be above PlayStation, but they've kind of slipped since the Gamecube days. Still, I really enjoy the likes of Starfox, Metroid, Mario, Zelda, F-zero, and games like that. It's just that they haven't really done a whole lot with the franchises I actually enjoy. Microsoft and Nintendo are very close to the same level in terms of my preferences. The thing holding MS back from the 3rd spot for me is that their practices have been less than savory, and while I certainly enjoy their systems they tend to drop support for them about half way through their lifecycle.

Those are just my personal rankings/thoughts on the console companies though.

I mostly share your platform preference. For me it's PC 1st followed by the main Playstation consoles.

I did laugh at the description of the PC gamers:

That's kinda true. I do spend too much time on my PC, but I wouldn't consider myself an angry nerd. How can any PC gamer be angry when we have access to Steam sales and Humble Bundles?

But PS4 will eventually claim the top spot through 1st party support.

PC>PS3>Xbox360>PS4&l t;XB1>Wii>Vita>Wii U

but will eventually probably change to:
PC>PS4>XB1>PS3>36 0>Vita>Wii U>Wii

Xbox is bad because they invest millions into our industry to kill the industry somehow

I would call myself a PC gamer. But almost everything in this article is not exactly true. I wonder on which side the writer of this article is, not that he has to take a side, but reading it, I believe it is pretty clear, on which side he is^^

1.They call us nerdiest, he doesnt like the word fact, but it is a fact, that most gaming PCs one would get today, is more powerful, than a PS4, you can work with it, not only play with it. We are jealous of the consoles games? No, actually not, we get all 3rd Parties, in the best way to play, why? Because we can use every console controller or keyboard and mouse. We have the whole RTS genre exclusively for us, the writer act like, PC has nothing to offer^^I would take every RTS over a Sony exclusive, I have enough shooters on PC.

2. I am also a Wii U fan, why? Yes, because I think going PC + Wii U is a smart choice. Wii U games would pretty much be the only exclusives, I would become jealous not being able to play. I would hate a new Zelda, I could not play day one. Or having no Mario Kart, to play with all my friends locally.

Yes, I wouldnt call myself unattractive and nerdy, I have tons of friends, I pretty much meet them almost daily and play locally, if we play something. doesnt sound so nerdy.

Than again, I believe for PS4 fans we are nerdy, because we downplay their console with PCs and only uncool people would like PCs over a PS4^^

3. As a Wii U fan I can also say, that we do not try to be a friend with everyone. We dont live in the past, how fanboyish was that statement? I wouldnt call a Touchscreen, which pretty much revolutionized the whole computer industry a thing of the past, most casuals, use a screen daily to play their games.

4. PS4 fans act all like they are in a brotherhood to bash everything and if something is better, then they are nerds, dumb, ignorant, assho**s and unattractive. PS4 fans go to every other consoles article, even Wii Us and troll hard and bash everything, with always the same arguments. Games look better, no, compared to PC they do not, but saying that makes you a dumb unattractive nerd^^

Cant say much about Xbox One fans, they never really made me angry with their nonsense, but there are people, spreading lies about PS4 being equal to a $1600 PC^^ that is really fanboy style.

Then again, why do Wii U fans live in the past? Ok, it is the weakest console, but the used tech, is pretty new. The controller is the most innovative of them all, just like with the Wii was, it is pretty much the newest tech, not the most powerful, but the newest. It has a GPGPU, it has a multicore CPU. This are weak parts, yes, but they are not old parts, like many try to make it seem. For a PC you can also get an i3 or Atom CPU, for cheap money, but it is a model of this year, it is weak, but it is new and uses latest tech. Not much else to say here.

Did it occur to you that maybe it is because those people have a lot of frustration built up from being attacked and bashed by Sony fanboys ALL THE TIME. This extreme bashing by Sony fanboys has been going on for 3 generations. So when an article like this comes up that is on the topic they vent.

PC gamers, Nintendo gamers and Xbox gamers alike are all sick and tired of this horrible behavior of Sony fanboys. You guys truly are the worst BY FAR. Nintendo, Xbox and PC gamers generally get along OK. A few disagreements here and there, but nothing too major. It's Sony gamers that 80% of the time are attacking members of the other groups, flooding into articles by the hundreds just to bash and act like jerks.

It's funny, because after my PC the PS3 is my favorite console. I really don't consider myself to be a fanboy but I do enjoy a good flamewar as long as people do take things to heart or personally. I bought a PS4 for the price and specs (consoles get some great exclusives) and I'm currently building a PC for gaming/programming/work.

Gaming journalists try to make us all insecure by focusing exclusively on the things that each don't have. For Xbox, they throw 1080p in their face, for PlayStation they throw Titanfall in their face and for Nintendo they only report missed sales projections.

Focusing on those three things makes us easier to manage because they don't have to spend time finding new info on games. And we are too preoccupied to noyice that they aren't delivering any news.

I think that fanboyism is something beyond emotional attachment. I guarantee you that many fanboys hate their "enemy" console more than they love their preferred console, which is very sad. These people let an experience that they don't intend on having rile them up and turn them into vitriol-spewing hatemongers, fighting a war that has no bounty for them if victory is achieved.

As for the article's fanboy rankings, I agree for the most part, but I could shorten their descriptions significantly.

1. Sony - Bullies with victim mentalities.

I'm a Nintendo fan, but I also enjoy Sony and PC gaming. Xbox is interesting, but doesn't have many standout games for me.
The only reason I haven't bought a PS4 yet is because you have to pay for online, and online being free was one of the biggest draws of Playstation last gen.
I'll probably end up with a PS4 within the next year or two, and will get an Xbox One when a truly groundbreaking game comes out (new (good) Banjo Kazooie?).

I love nintendo they create experiences you can only find on their consoles, they also have the best handhelds imo.I love pc, the variety on that platform is amazing, no matter your taste you can find something to sink your time into. I love playstation, grew up on these consoles from ps1 to ps4 and psp. And every one was an amazing experience . The only one that I truly can't tolerate is the xbox. The mentality of fanboys explained, It isn't a question of fanboy mentality, it is a question of age. People aged between 18 and 25 tend to think they are the high and mighty of intelligence and productivity.

This hate for one console is a backlash against consumerism coming out of the BIG, SCARY WORLD that they are now apart of. It isn't aimed at one thing, it is aimed at a lot. It's where people get the phrase 'hipster' from. I find this article oddly accurate, more so then I would have suspected. I honestly would not have a problem with any type of fanboy if it would be enough for them to just be extremely excited for what is coming out for them instead of the need to go to the articles on things they do not have any interest in at all and then trash them. Sony fanboys: include jak & dexter, ratchet and hank as must have exclusives, and are afraid to give negative feedback to Sony example: ds4 battery and 30day outage. Act like their exclusives are the best invention since electricity. Sarcastic but not nasty. Usual older demographic. High urban demographic (on ps3/psn is free)

Nintendo fanboys: non confrontational and are happy playing kid games on standard definition.

Xbox fanboys: include halo in their lack of exclusive arsenal. Happy with Microsoft stepping on their nuts (example) play and charge/360 batteries not compatible with Xbox 1 controller and hail it as a positive.

Hail kinnect as a positive. At times nasty. Seem a little dumber judging by conversations, and I guess because they have been paying for online for 9 years and could've gotten it free elsewhere. Claim they have bigger hands.

PC: seem cool but nerdy. Number crunchers. Polite. Most play PC and a console. Seem older and nonconfrontational.

Atari: someday we will rise!

Sega: we will buy out Xbox and have our revenge on Sony!

Sony Fanboys = Mental health problems and insecurities.
They love graphics, power and sales, it's not about quality gameplay for them, it's about bragging rights.

Nintendo Fanboys = Prefer Quality gameplay, don't really care about specs and sales as long as game is enjoyable, its all about the games. Although some believe Nintendo can do no wrong, which keeps Nintendo somewhat Nostalgic and behind the other consoles when it comes to hardware.

Microsoft fanboys = There somewhere inbetween a Sony and Nintendo, haven't really experienced many Microsoft fans on this site but when I do they are usually on the defensive from Sony Fans.

Pc fanboys = They seem alright to be honest, they usually only bring up how better Pc graphics and power are to consoles to shut up different console Fanboys.

It is a beautiful time to be interested in gaming right now.

Sony set the tone.

Sony's launch presentation was entirely on the mark. It never took buyers, whether Sony ones or otherwise, as fools. It may have mocked Microsoft for changing its mind but, even when downplaying the cloud, it never fell in to a trap of saying that PS4 would always have the better graphics. Graphical fidelity is technology where the PS4 may have the edge. But graphical style is artistry and that's partly a matter of opinion. Some Xbox One games have great artists working on them who might never make a PS4 game.

The sidelining of the Xbox One by many will work partly in its favour in terms of it having cult status, something that the Xbox360 never really had because it never struggled, it just plodded on, boringly plodding on as if it was a Nintendo console by the end of it.

The Xbox One console and controller are beautifully designed, a big improvement on previous Xboxes. There's an elegant simplicity.

Not so much can be said about the PS4- it's a layman's idea of what futuristic is really is isn't it?
Ooh- the console is slanted. You might call that 'cosmopolitan elegance'. I think your tastes are fairly ordinary if the PS4 console design excites you.

And I say that as a huge fan of the PS3.

Even if the games this generation are, to some extent evolutions of what the last generation did really well for the first time, by now a lot of things have been worked out as to what works, what can be mixed, what that is 'retro' is still of interest to people either as the original experience or as a reboot.
