Connor White says: "It’s testament to the idea of making a game with an original, even risky, framework that Lightning Returns is not just a divisive game, but a divided one. One half of the game is an excellent, tense and satisfying adventure that successfully justifies the meaning of the entire franchise while being really fun on its own merits. The other half is a banal, boring romp solving everyone else’s mundane chores for little payoff. It might be worth sitting through all of it just for the sake of finishing off the franchise, but I doubt it. Once you play through the main missions, just save your time and look up the rest on YouTube."
