Not that big of a difference.

SilentNegotiator4087d ago

lol of course not - it's a 2D game.

brewin4087d ago

So youre implying that 2D games dont have good graphics? Have you seen DK tropical Freeze? Theres a huge difference between that and DKC Returns. This is merely Ubisoft porting the basic game with no enhancements, it is not indicative of power of the consoles. The Wii U version is still the definitive version. You get al the graphical bells and whistles with he included gameplay enhancements the GamePad offers. Its a sick game no matter the platform though!

SilentNegotiator4087d ago (Edited 4087d ago )

First of all, DK Tropical Freeze is 2.5D (2D gamespace, 3D renderings). RL's use of 3D is incredibly limited. Sprites aren't going to have any serious jaggies or anything, so going to the 7th to 8th gen isn't going to make any explosive differences - I wasn't saying 2D games don't have good graphics, I was saying that they transfer easily from 7th gen to 8th gen.

Second, DKC Returns looks a lot worse because the graphical gap between Wii and Wii U is closer to two generations than one. We're talking about a 480p console that launched in 2006 to a system that launched a year earlier and manages graphics at least close to Xbox One.

Lastly, stop trying to push Rayman Legends as "definitive" on Wii U. All of the controls are handled just as competently on non-gamepad platforms. The gameplay isn't "enhanced" on Wii U, it's handled slightly differently. Moving your hand away from some of the controls to touch the screen vs pushing down on a shoulder button...gee, which one sounds more integrated and quick to use?

You're correct. My PS4 copy turned up yesterday, and the only differences between last gen and this gen appear to be features (e.g. using the DS4's touchpad to perform actions in game, Remote Play with Vita etc.), a few exclusive bonuses, and load times (VERY quick - almost instantaneous).

Otherwise, it's the same game on both gens. Regardless of which you buy it for though, it's a cracking game.

Neonridr4087d ago

Wow, and the differences totally warrant a new purchase.. :P

Honestly, I watched that video at 1080p and I struggled to find anything different. Perhaps the background images are a little sharper on the Xbox One version, who knows.

But when the character was running along and the game switched between both versions, I couldn't even tell.

jay24087d ago

XBO looks brighter to me.

tigertron4087d ago

I'm having a hard time deciding whether to buy the PS4 version on Friday or buy the Vita version which is cheaper.

BobbytheBuilder4087d ago

if you get the ps4 version you can remote play, so I think the ps4 version makes sense

clouds54087d ago (Edited 4087d ago )

Actually the WiiU version makes most sense if you can choose^^ It's one of the best 2 player couch games :) and fully 1080p/60fps as well.

ABizzel14087d ago (Edited 4087d ago )

Yes, but the Vita version has all the touch controls, and I believe it has all the game modes now + exclusive levels.

Really depends on if you want to play with friends or not. If you want to solo get the Vita version, if you want to play with friends and still remote play get the PS4 version, although I believe Remote play will drop the framerate to 30fps.

CrowbaitBob4079d ago

@clouds5

How does the WiiU version make more sense? It's about $300 more than the other versions.

bangoskank4087d ago

The Vita version was free on PS+ a couple of months ago. Took advantage of that right away.

heliotropic4087d ago

That was Rayman Origins, not Legends.

bangoskank4087d ago

Yeah, I tend to confuse the two.

Sidewinder-4087d ago

It was never a visually intensive game.

But it's still a visual delight.

Little Big Planet, lol. No.

paddy9564d ago

LBP3 and rayman legends are the best here.

jznrpg63d ago

Puppeteer is really good. Nobody played it because it came out right before PS4 came out. When I went to pick up Puppeteer from GameStop some people were trading in their old consoles for PS4 preorder.

Will There Ever Be A New Rayman Game?

Ubisoft barely have a leg to stand on lately, so do they need to crack open the vaults and return platforming royalty to glory for some goodwill?

We need Rayman 4, they could make a great platformer game if they wanted. With the open hub levels and the like.

Better than relying on Rabbids and Assassins Creed all the time

Profchaos424d ago

Yeah agree id love a Rayman 2 style 3d platform game over another 2d platformer I know people loved legends but it never gelled with me same as Rayman 1 back in the day on PS it just felt like a average platformer with sonic and Mario offering something better on what was then last gen hardware

Terry_B425d ago

Yes..but I am sure it won't be the Rayman game fans want. Not from the company that is Ubisoft today.

mastershredder425d ago (Edited 425d ago )

Ancel is retired from games. His hoodlum/rabbid team are doing their own thing. It would not be the same if Ubisoft did.

Profchaos424d ago

Probably far more profitable to make low effort Rabbids games aimed at kids over a next Rayman

Chocoburger425d ago

Experience points, skill trees to fill up, level gating, endless menial tasks and side quests, constantly scrounging for resources. Always having to upgrade your gear. A.KA. "The Ubisoft effect".

No thanks, don't ruin Rayman's legacy.

Profchaos424d ago

Sure there will be it'll launch right alongside the next splinter cell
