Xbox’s Graeme Boyd ‘More interested in the way games play tbh’ in reply to PS4′s better Res and FPS

Gamerspective: Graeme Boyd, Xbox UK’s Social Marketing Manager, said in reply to a tweet about how he feels that the PS4 is getting better FPS and Resolution.

Good point, we never had 1080p back in the day but that didn't stop us from enjoying good games.

However with that said its now 2014 and I think gamers should expect good quality throughout the medium so better res and fps along with great gameplay.

Unfortunately for MS, Sony has all aspects down and offering that experience at a cheaper price.

Except he has no point , it's the same games with graphic differences or games that dont use the only thing that would give a gameplay difference : kinect .

If every game had Kinect features, I think the resolution issue could be justified. The Kinect is already taking up resources, might as well put it to use.

As rich as Microsoft is they could pay the 3rd parties to stuff Kinect features into every multiplat. Then it wouldn't be so much about the resolution and people like Boyd wouldn't have to try so hard.

I love that everyone who loves PS4 for res and frame rate are the same ones saying the two don't matter when it comes to PC. Been at 1080p for 15 years. Now sitting at 144Hz. I have a PS4 as well so I can play The Show and NHL, but hypocritical arguments are always my favorite.

People are comparing two rival consoles from a same generation , based on their specs , games and price range . That something else that isnt a console does everything better is irrelevant . It was irrelevant then for older consoles , it still is now .

There is a standard and baseline to compare with , each console generation .

That's not what the vast majority of people argue. Like Boyd, you deliberately replace the opposing argument with an oversimplified straw-man argument because you can't debate honestly.

Of course FPS and resolution matter. It's the main selling point for PC gaming. There is no statistically significant percentage of people denying that. They buy consoles because it has other advantages. You and MS are the ones making these ridiculous arguments where only one thing matters. We're saying that all things matter, including FPS and resolution. MS needs to stop being petty and say, "PS4 may be able to do games in higher res. and FPS, but what we offer is _________," without trying to downplay the importance of res. and FPS. It's telling that they aren't trying to sell a unique offering of the XB1, but instead trying to downplay the obvious advantage of the competitor.

Problem is, how do they promote a strong point for multiplatform games where there is no strong point to promote? They realize they're getting killed on the FPS and res battle, so they take the stand that FPS and res don't matter, only gameplay. Then why upgrade my 360 to an XB1?

Funny thing is , unlike what you believe , i'm on pc a lot , depending on the genre of games and mood , even more so than on consoles . It's funny how Microsoft is suddenly trying to play the little innocent Nintendo role. "Oh, it's all about the fun and gameplay, system power is not what's important." It doesn't look/sound as believable coming form you Microsoft, damage control at its finest.

Lets be honest, they thought PS4 would only have 4GB GDDR5 ram, which it would if the 512mb chips didn't come out in time. So, they'd have a huge advantage in that area of future proofing as opposed to PS4, but that didn't work out for them. Then, PS4 was already killing them in the GPU department by a ridiculous margin, so they were left assed out. Now they can only try to throw their huge bags of money around to buy every and any exclusive deals to games that look like they'll be hits. While PS4 has amazing inside teams that they've build up and nurtured over decades.

You can't just come in out of nowhere and throw money around and expect that to put you on the top, it worked early on last gen because Sony came out a year late and also made a mistake with the difficulty of the PS3 cell processor. Microsoft is in for one loooong and uncomfortable ride this whole generation of gaming.

The completely hilarious part is that they were praising Ryse for it's graphics before and after the Xbox One's release despite it's awful gameplay. If it isn't about graphics but the Kinect, then why take that step to go back and forth with every statement? It's damage control and most of the things said from Microsoft PR is just, damage control. The way I see it is that they have no confidence in the other aspects of their console. They never talk about how the Kinect was a great choice to package in. Instead, they waste so much time trying to gather so many Xbox fanboys to defend them. That's what it really is, they want the Xbox fanboys to follow since they eat anything up coming from Microsoft. No logical understanding and Microsoft knows what they're doing. They know they're lying, they know that most people that bought the Xbox One because of brand loyalty will spew false statements to justify their purchase. If they bought the Xbox One for it's strengths, not it's weaknesses then shut up about graphics. We all know now the Xbox One can't output the same power the PS4 can so there's no use to spinning facts now.

Once E3 comes in, the truth will be broadcasted and talked about on every news website, just watch. It's going to be exciting and fun to read all the damage control in the comment sections. The Order 1886 new gameplay is an example of that, nobody can bring Ryse as the best graphics in a game anymore. And all those fanboys saying it looks like "meh," I laugh at them. :)

Explain why the average review score is 60? I'll wait for your reply. While you're at it, you can explain why Superman 64 is a great game since it got shitty review scores, too and every other game that has a 60.

I'll agree, everyone has different opinions of it but you must be part of the minority that thought the gameplay was great. I believe the visuals are the only reason it got up to mediocre scores. If it wasn't for that, the game wouldn't have any legs to stand on.

By the way, I don't have to play the game to make my point. Microsoft did continuously say that Ryse had the best graphics of both platforms. Why did graphics matter then but not now? Yea, I thought so.

If gameplay is more important, why don't you save all Xbox fans some money and tell them to stick with xbox360 and then release some of those games you're banging on about with the all-important gameplay?
Better graphics matter else why release a new console?
A more powerful console matters because it unleashes more creative freedom in developers - bigger worlds, more characters on screen etc.
But then, such statements sound like damage limitation. Better, sometimes, to just remain quiet.

MS is living in complete denial and have no clue. The only cloud reference they can make now is 'Our heads are up in the cloudz'. So much for dat Krazy Cloud Powahh!!! What a croc. PS4 is a beast pure and simple. Designed very efficiently with a ton of power under the hood - just look at how Hideo Kojima has praised the PS4 and how well MGS5 runs on it. That is why I invested in PS4 - to get NEXT GEN (1080p) graphics consistently. The XB1 is really looking bad right now with all of these new games below 1080p and even their new sdks and 8% GPU bump doesn't seem to be helping them. Can't wait till the games are out and have been reviewed to see if MS was able to get a bit better resolution before release. Sony is killin it so far and us PS4 gamers are in for a great generation of games. Thank you Sony for this little black powerhouse.

I just love it how the tables have turned. It's constant damage control from MS. MS fanboys who kept on going on about how much better games are on 360 than on PS3 because of minor differences are getting a taste of their own medicine. To 360 players graphics were very important. All of a sudden it doesn't matter.

Ironically it was at most 300,000 pixels difference between 360 and PS3 games. Now the difference is up to 1.1million or 2.25x resolution with the PS4 > X1.
