Pure Nintendo: "Castle Clout 3D is a fun download. I give it (and the series) props for planting the seeds of a gaming empire. The game looks good, controls well (with support for both stylus and button support) and has plenty of challenging content. It’s also selling for a modest price of just $5, making it a much better value for Nintendo fans than the overpriced Angry Birds collections. If I liked the game despite my mixed feelings for the genre, I can imagine fans will enjoy it even more."
DHGF: The resurrection of Castle Clout is coming perhaps too late–while it was revolutionary and fun in its heyday over a half decade ago, it comes across as a cheaper Angry Birds now. Still, the game is enjoyable enough and offers a few new things for those familiar with the genre. The game is great for those who want to pass a little bit of time and like to relax, but those who are tired of these types of titles won’t find anything particularly new to peak their interest, with, perhaps, the exception of a larger set of ammunition to choose from and more difficult levels as you progress through the game. For fans, however, the appeal is definitely there and the extras, like the castle creator, will be a bonus for those interested in doing something new.
Smash castles, crush enemies and enjoy epic 3D trebuchet action with the release of Castle Clout 3D from California-based game developer Selectsoft! Featuring all new painted backgrounds, 150 levels, vivid 3D effects, new foes, special weapons, and a “hot seat” multiplayer mode, Castle Clout 3D brings medieval mayhem to the Nintendo 3DS™ like never before.
Inevitably, most things become boring. This fact is one of the reasons Avault's Matthew Booth likes iOS games. If he spends a dollar on an app and plays it for an hour, he feels little remorse when he moves on to a different game. Whereas with console/PC games, when he spends between twenty and sixty dollars, if he hasn’t invested 5-10 hours (hopefully more) in the game, he’ll typically wait to purchase another title. This week’s collection of apps are all great titles and with the exception of Squids, they’re all titles that are thoroughly enjoyable but don’t require a lot of attention. Essentially, they’re ideal mobile games. He singled out Squids because, as you will soon read, it has an interesting story and mechanics that deserve a little more devotion. Enjoy!
