Star Wars: Force Unleashed PS3/360 "indistinguishable"

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed producer Cameron Suey says that the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of his game should be "indistinguishable" from one another.

"Between the Xbox 360 and the PS3, if we've done our job right, they'll be indistinguishable," Suey told Eurogamer during a recent press event to showcase progress on the next-generation versions.

Suey also explained why the 360 and PS3 versions lack multiplayer, describing it as a "difficult decision" to make, but "a pretty easy difficult decision".

I don't think PS3 or xbox360 are identical in performance, no matter which one is superior, devs developing multi-plat game putting all the effort in making sure they look the same IMO has been wrong. Yes, they can generate more money on it but well it suppressed games quality, and it is slowly harming the xbox360 platform as well.

They should just make sure the game arrive on each platform is the best possible and each is going to get its audience, and it is a better approach for xbox 360 as well, due to the high learning curve with the PS3.

Initially we would see better games on xbox360, then we will see better games on PS3(I personally think PS3 has more power), and we can go to the next gen after another year or two.

However, currently they are making the games the same, and so i am assuming the are not making the best xbox360 versions yet, well this would make same quality of game in the rather early time frame(and yes those real early one PS3 multi-ports were inferior, but just a limited number), and very soon it will be dominated by games from PS3...Ultimately, it is hurting xbox360 and as well its timing on releasing the next console

Actually it would make no sense for the developer to try too hard to make the game different on different consoles. If you going to make a game and you make it different for each console that you release the game on, you end up with higher operating costs.
Would you like to end up paying more for the game due to them making a special version each time? I wouldn't think so.

This game has now become a rental, or maybe I'll buy it 4-6 months after it's release. The game may have a great story, but how can they give the Wii multiplayer and just neglect the next-gen consoles?

the 360 disc didn't have enough room for multiplayer so instead of multiplayer only on PS3 they decided to can it to avoid a fanboy war and boycott of the product.

Maybe we'll see it as DLC for a hefty sum?

The reason they make both versions identical: To shut fanboys up about minute comparisons between versions. It also means they need to only aim to get the graphics to the lowest common denominator for both consoles, and can't push one or the other. I mean if you look at games jointly developed for, say, PS2 and PS3 the PS3 version is just the same with a higher resolution and maybe more particle effects.

It doesnt mean that the PS3 will be the better version, but it will be the version they use to copy to the xbox360 version. It wont be identical though, so there might be slight differances between the two, but look at games like Burnout, it was just a little better than the 360 version. Better framerate and just a little sharper graphics.

Gametrailers will make the PS3 look worse even if they have to use PS3 gameplay in place for 360.

I hate it when Devs have to dumb down their games to match the 3 Fix Me when they could of got something better with the graphics on the PS3 when they go all out.
Lucas Arts already reported that they favor the Wii and PS3 Version the most.
Wii for the sword slashing controls.
PS3 for rendering of the game and HD Graphics.
I've seen the commercials and they only seem to mention the Wii and PS3.

last gen every port from PS#2 to Xbox and Gamecube resulted in better graphics on the systems that the game was ported to. So why would the PS#3 version be dumbed down to match the 360 version? If the PS#3 has more power why just they don't use it?

It's the Developers that choose to follow this pattern when originally to be fair they should have 2 separate teams working on each console from the ground up.
No hate towards the 360 but come on you shouldn't have to dumb down your products just have separate teams.
