Initial WiiWare impressions from the Globe & Mail
Globe & Mail game blogger checks out WiiWare and offers thoughts on three of its launch games. From the story:
"The Wii’s Virtual Console store, which has delivered more than 200 classic titles over the last 18 months for Nintendo’s svelte gaming machine, has been widely acknowledged as a boon for older players with warm and fuzzy memories of the games they played while growing up during the infancy of consoles.
Alas, it hasn’t done much to appease Nintendo fans who covetously gaze at the steady stream of original and exclusive downloadable games that have appeared on other consoles over the last couple of years, such as PlayStation 3’s wonderfully wacky physics experiment Pain and the Xbox 360’s popular puzzler Switchball.
That envy may now be consigned to history thanks to Monday’s North American launch of WiiWare, a new online service that is dedicated to delivering original and exclusive games for Nintendo’s popular console."
