Just the WIP: Rodina - Pixels for Breakfast

Pixels for Breakfast writes: My childhood largely consisted of three things: point and click adventures, space combat and Star Wars. Rodina manages to somehow combine my love for all three into a single package. Currently in alpha from Elliptic Games, this week I decided to shoot my first session with the game, in what will be an ongoing series with every major update.

Elite dangerous does the whole 'space' exploration better. By quite a bit. No mans sky is better for..landing on planets. ED is less repetitive too. Example... Dropping out of warp almost landing in a star is ****ing scary. Nothing like that happens in NMS. Nothing particularly interesting happens in space in NMS. ED, everything interesting is in space.

Elite dangerous is the best hands down

It's a shame really the way No Man's Sky ended up. It could have been so much more if they worked longer and with a bigger team on the game. It could have been the best sci fi exploring game of the decade.

They just announced a new foundation update which will introduce major changes including base building.

Oh God no. Space Engine is better, looks better, has just as much to do, and it's free.

Oh, and it actually has orbital patterns.

@kraenk12

Most of these were available for a long time before NMS came out, especially Rodina.

Astroneer seems like a neat game.

Rodina Lets You Travel Between Planets Too

While checking out No Man’s Sky on Steam about a week ago, the recommended section lead to me a title called Rodina. Released just over two years ago, it’s also a space adventure title.

The Solar System Stomping Grounds of Rodina | Hardcore Gamer

Space games tend to go big, letting you travel from one system to another while the planets do little more than provide a handy gravity well for a space station to orbit. The galaxy may be big and beautiful but the planets are generally decoration. Rodina isn't having any of that.
