Alien: Isolation "very much" single player, "got to have those breaks" from fear

Creative Assembly is developing Alien: Isolation and they us in a room with a big bad xeno with no guns, maybe a wrench, and a whole lot of panic. It's not enough to just 'pile-drive' us into the ground in fear though.

The team recognise for that true survival horror experience we need to catch a break now and then, and they soon saw testers give a "sigh of relief when they got to the airlock."

A single Alien?

It's either going to have the possibility of be very short or boring, I'm not so sure I want to spend an entire game running from one Alien.

It also worries me when a Dev keeps reiterating that they are making a game for the fans, the game fans always wanted to play, like they are trying not only to convince me but also convince themselves, feels like A:CM all over again.
I guess well just have to wait and see.

I think a lot of people are excited by what they have seen so far, but are also very cautious when it comes to being optimistic. A:CM did that to a lot of us.

I'd say it's scarier knowing there is one after you rather than a hundred, because otherwise that diminishes the tension as you'll be used to seeing them on a constant basis. Not knowing when it will strike is scary.

Amnesia did this. And it was terrifying. However amnesia didn't have free roamingAI. the alien is free roaming and actively hunting you. That's why there is one. It builds tension "where is it?! WHERE THE F*** IS IT?!l

I can see several ways of changing things up. For example, just like in the film, an android programmed to come after you. Also, environmental hazards - you have to repair the life-support system, quickly, before it fails completely.

And something I realized last night. There's a crafting system of some kind, according to the articles. Well, I'd bet you can eventually, in the later stages of the game, craft a flamethrower unit like in the film. And now you've got the option of driving the Alien away (though probably not killing it).

I can see that taking place in the air vents, and you have to switch between the motion sensor and the flamethrower, and pick which intersections to avoid and which ones to force through, without running out of fuel...

Dude the game is confirmed to be 12 hours. Plus the one Alien has a smart A.i that could track you done, if your not too careful. Yes there will be other humans in the station, that could help you, or could be a threat. There are puzzles, traps, and items to combine into weapons. So you have a lot of things to look forward to in a 12 hour game. I am going to say that this is my most anticipated game of 2014.

hoar hoar it looks like its that time of year again people where the words "Alien" and "game" are mentioned. Best wait till the game is actually out before committing to buy ay? We all know what happened last year. (I certainly did)

I played through most of the PS4 version of the game but stopped because another game came out. I bought it last year for PC with the intention of using the VR mod but haven't gotten around to setting it up. I am glad I waited.

Great game, even better in VR. A little drawn out by the end, but I hope we see CA do something a little different with the sequel.

OtterX24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

Sweet. I also rebought this game on Steam for the purpose of VR. I'll have to give it another shot w full immersive controls. I had only tried it out briefly before.

It's funny this was never officially released at retail as a VR game, bc it feels so perfect for it!
