'Left 4 Dead 2' free, 'Terraria', 'Skyrim' and more discounted in Steam sale

XMNR: Valve updated its Steam Holiday 2013 Sale on Christmas Day with a number with discounts on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Terraria and more. However, there's an extra special gift in there with a a free copy of Left 4 Dead 2.

I'm having no problems with Steam error codes.

It's most likely the traffic on your local servers.

I live outside of the US where not so many are using Skype and other bandwidth intensive methods of contacting friends and family on such a wondrous day!

Team Fortress 2 didn't become F2P until like either last year or 2011. Before that, you had to buy the game.

They didn't add microtransactions to it until it went F2P. Thankfully the fact that you can buy things doesn't make the game unbalanced or anything.

This game is fully supported by the community and the maps Valve brought out for it were all free. That's how Valve rolls. You are trolling and no wonder you got 26 disagrees and not one agree ;-)

There's supposedly more than 6 million people on right now all trying to get stuff. I don't really know of any service capable of handling that many people at once (pulling massive load, anyway)

I was able to get mines. Just search LFD2 then let it sit til it loads. Keep doing that til u can install.

This is pretty much why an all digital future won't fly here in the states. Even only being slightly online and PSN and Steam can't keep up with the demand, I can't imagine if everyone relied on it for all their gaming needs.

What AllroundGamer is saying is the truth. It's a bottleneck from STEAMS end, they don't have the bandwidth or servers to respond to the incoming requests.

Sure Valve/MS/Sony could all handle that amount, if they wanted to. But if you average say 1 million concurrent users, you would buy enough servers for say 2 million. You don't go out and buy enough to handle 10 million for the two days of the year where you hit maximum. It's a waste of money in both purchasing and maintaining.

well there is around 4-6 million users that use steam every day. steam pushes updates around the day and people buy and redownload games all the time.
they have great bandwidth, but at times that might not even matter when the spikes are so much larger than what people normally use on a daily basis.

It's a pretty rare thing for steam servers to cause trouble though. To be honest this would be one of, if not the busiest times of year. I think they have an excellent track record considering it's 100% download.

Well when 4chan or someone went to Valve one day earlier this year, someone took a screencap of a monitor that had source code on it, and a few of the lines mentioned "Left 4 Dead 3" and "Source 2 engine". So it's pretty much coming at some point.

Yes! once it's been activated to your account you can download or not whenever, like psn+ you dont need to download just click it and grab it later.
