Fakefactory Cinematic Mod 8 is available within the next 2 days, the author says. The texture modification for Half-Life 2 got some mixed feedback with version 7, even at N4G. Now the mod tries to cure some bugs with reduced HDR usage and other features. The first screenshots may be seen on German website PCGH.

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.
Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.
The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
Half-Life 2 art director and Dishonored designer Viktor Antonov has died aged just 52.
One of my biggest art heroes. His work and vision were truly one of a kind, and he’s been a huge inspiration to my own work. Such a heartbreaking loss.

Yep I remember seeing some of the earliest concept art for Dishonored and hearing that the art director of Half-Life 2 was working on it and being excited.
And you are absolutely right, each of those games (HL2 and Dishonored) has a distinct art style that stands the test of time.

After celebrating the 20th anniversary, Half-Life 2 reached top 5 on the Steam Deck Top Played list. It's also on a 90% sale.
What does this mod exactly? Aside from the shot shown here, I don't get the point of this whole mod.
I'm not sure what it does either, but I'd rather stick to the normal model of Alyx over those two.
I like the "old" Alyx better.

I could not STAND playing EP2 because good old HL2 with the Cinematic Mod from FakeFactory looked and sounded so incredible.
Playing EP2 was (graphically) a step backward. So I waited for FF to make cinematic mod 6/7 - which now updates HL2, EP1 and EP2.
