Missed Call: Fatal Frame III

Justin from Pixel Gate writes:

My buddy Adam over on Bloody Disgusting did a list recently talking about some really nice horror titles that people should play and in that list was a mention of the Fatal Frame series. Always hearing about the games when I was younger, but never having the balls to actually play them caused me to neglect the series until now. So, when I bought my PS3 last weekend I decided to delve into the PSN Store and see if they had any juicy horror games, or anything to buy. That’s when Fatal Frame III caught my eye, and did so almost instantly.

nice article.

If you've got a wii kicking around i'd reccomend giving the remake of Fatal Frame II and Fatal Frame IV a go - there's a really good translation patch for IV available as it never made it out of Japan for some stupid reason.

the next fatal frame will probably be a wiiu exclusive since nintendo have bought the rights to the series off of tecmo.

Good thing too, the gamepad is perfect fot it.

I hope in a Nintendo Direct they show a new fatal frame game. I will literally start jumping in the air lol. I'm about to play through all three again for a buddy of mine who likes horror games. Told him Fatal Frame is the cream of the crop!

I don't want Nintendo to touch this franchise again , EVER !
Too fxxxking bad they buy the Fatal Frame IP , now our beloved franchise has been officially screwed by Nintendo since FF4 , I fxxking hate Nintendo for stealing and ruining a potential IP's like this , This franchise needs to be multi-platform again .

wheresmymonkey4193d ago

Yeah, me too. IV is one of the creepiest games i've ever played. I can't wait to see what they do with the series next.

TheEvilWithin4193d ago (Edited 4193d ago )

@Shinox: I'm excited for Nintendo to have the franchise. Sorry you have such a hatred towards Nintendo. People like you complain Nintendo doesn't have any mature titles and then once they buy one all of a sudden that sucks? For all we know Tecmo could of had NO PLANS on continuing to bring the franchise to the states showing how 4 stayed in Japan. This franchise along with Bayonetta 2 looks to have been maybe saved by Nintendo before going down the crapper. What do they get? Kids like you who find fault with this acquisition. IF your a TRUE fan of this series then you will be glad and grateful Nintendo made this move.

@The Evil Within

The bad news is nintendo never localize Fatal Frame IV and Fatal Frame II remake. And looking at nintendo right now, maybe they will did worse than Tecmo. As a Fatal Frame fans, i'm not sure if i must happy or mad when nintendo bought half of Fatal Frame IP from Tecmo...

Shinox4192d ago (Edited 4192d ago )

@TheEvilWithin
Oh look its "Bayonetta 2" argument all over again and this time with different spin !

And you consider this a "save" for the franchise !?
How could you be so desperate to accept the fact that this whole deal between Tecmo and Nintendo is going to "Save" the franchise since its never seen the light of day on any other Consoles other than the stupid Wii , Tell me does that help the franchise ,Does that help the fans , So by just "buying the IP" you consider Nintendo as "the savior" of the franchise , NO that has nothing to do with what the what the industry has become to and at this point it wont affect Tecmo from making this game to PS3 which it has a very wide audience , it was Nintendo idea from the beginning they make an Exclusive deal with Tecmo before even mentioning any other platform ,they want to test the market with FF4 and they slightly failed to make this game reach a wide audience and what bothers even more that the game was sold MORE on Play-Asia than the Japanese market itself and it was considered as one of the top selling at Play-Asia and i believe that most of those people who bought the game has no interest on the Console itself ( http://www.play-asia.com/ze... ) so instead of localizing this game ONCE AGAIN they make AN EXCLUSIVE DEAL WITH TECMO to make a REMAKE OF FF2 which it was one of the most beloved game to the fans and you know why ? They will make it seem as if they going to save the water face of the franchise so by this everyone can consider them as "the savior of the franchise" who isolate Tecmo to make an exclusive deal since 2007 by not releasing their games to other platforms to just "test the industry" !

http://blog.us.playstation....

Just to let you know , the next FF game called ( Zero ~Saigo no Kotoba~ ) and its coming to the Wii U so there's no need for you to defend what "Nintendo" has to do with the franchise or the fans themselves , now be proud of Nintendo "the savior" of the potential franchises !

It's a bad thing for Nintendo to bought Fatal Frame series, it will be dead in their hands. They did not localise IV, I bought my Wii specifically for that and it never come.

I always thought Nintendo bought the rights for IV, not for the whole fatal frame series as 1 to 3 is SONY exclusive. I hope V is coming to PS4.

wheresmymonkey4192d ago

Prject zero 1-3 weren't sony exclusives you could get them on xbox as well.

The remake of 2 was localised by NOE.They did a fine job of it too. So it'll more than likely be localised in Europe at least.

IF you have a wii you can still play IV there's a really good fan patch for the game that's well worth installing. you just need a copy of the game and an sd card.

Ultimax4191d ago (Edited 4191d ago )

@wheresmymonkey

Hey ignorant , Project Zero 3 was and is "Sony exclusive"
Get your facts Straight and stop hating on Sony .

blakstarz4193d ago

Hope they make a FF game for the new consoles that are out!

Kurisu4193d ago

I hope so too. Project Zero on PS4 would be amazing. I'm not sure if there's a contract or anything that is keeping it to Nintendo consoles though.

Shinox4192d ago (Edited 4192d ago )

Sadly You wont see any of Fatal Frame titles coming to PS4 because NINTENDO "The Savior" has officially bought the IP and this needs Nintendo approval in the first place to become on that console so give it a kiss goodbye from now since Nintendo doesn't give a flying fxxk of what the fans want or what they want in the first place !

The 5th Fatal Frame coming to the Wii U and its called :
Zero ~Saigo no Kotoba~

Saw this on Wikipedia:

While Tecmo Koei remains the sole owner of the Fatal Frame / Project Zero IP and franchise, Nintendo does own certain rights related to the fourth entry in the series and the Wii remake of Fatal Frame 2

So they may be a slight chance it could..so I hope they do.

Run_bare4192d ago

Nintendo only own IV, not the whole IP. Fatal Frame V has a chance to be on SONY console.

Horrifying Retrospectives: Fatal Frame 3: The Tormented

TCB writes: "What is it about Fatal Frame 3: The Tormented that sets my teeth on edge? Is it the sprawling Manor of Sleep? Is it the ghouls that roam its hallways? Is it that this game pales in comparison to the two that have come before it? Is it that its tedium roars while its charms merely whisper?

When it comes to the last PS2 game in the Fatal Frame franchise there’s a lot of hype around it and I, personally, don’t think it lives up to any of it. If The Tormented happens to be your favourite in the franchise, you won’t like what I have to say about it. And no, I’m not just being an unnecessary curmudgeon about it because I love Crimson Butterfly so much! The game has flaws, but I’m getting ahead of myself. At least let me set it all up before I start tearing it down. I owe the game that much."
