Remedy Entertainment is no stranger to introducing cinematic flair into their games, as evidenced by the Max Payne franchise. For that matter, it can do drama and bizarre mysteries as well, as Alan Wake has proven. But what inspired the need for Quantum Break, the studio’s latest title that will be releasing exclusively on the Xbox One, to become both a game and TV series?
MP1st talks to Remedy Entertainment about FBC: Firebreak and even Alan Wake about game budgets, live-service and more.
Remedy Entertainment explains the difference to them on what AAA games are compared to AA in relation to their projects.
Remedy aimed to become the "European Naughty Dog" after drawing inspiration from Naughty Dog, says Alan Wake 2 director.
It’s hard to deny ND’s excellence. Good to aspire to be the best, Remedy is doing a pretty good job. Just make a good game tell a good story, leave politics alone
Why? Remedy were already making mature games while ND were still making platformers and they wouldn't get around making mature games til the end of the PS3 gen with TLoU. Remedy was already ahead, y'all just went a different direction during that gen.
They nailed the graphics at least. At this point, ND wants to be the ND Remedy was trying to emulate.
I mean, as far as talent, they're really close, but I think the thing that's working against them is the overconvoluted paranormal storytelling they've created. While it's super interesting, it's not the easiest thing to digest for your average normie. It's kind of that issue music has where you have to dumb down your stuff to appeal to more people.
I'll remain sceptical about the TV aspect (didn't work well for Defiance). I just hope it won't take away from the game too much if i end up not liking the TV show.
The game itself has definitely got my gamer senses tingling so far though.
This is making me very worried. Have been interested in this game as it was one of 2 games that are pushing me to get a Xbone, but this is really not my thing. I cant stand live action cinematic in most games such as Red Alert. And the fact the game devs are pushing it as "one experience" worries me, cos its practically forcing it on you, cos you will miss out on the story if you don't watch the show. A cinematic experience can be archived with out the need for Live action performances, this was proven in Alan Wake and other games such as TLOU and Bioshock Infinite.
Black made a great job on live action scenes , I hope they make something good
