Cubits1, or Charles Duffield, has uploaded a proof of concept video to YouTube showcasing how a first-person shooter game taking advantage of the gyro and accelerometer in the Wii U GamePad might look if such a game were to be made.

Silent Scope for the Wii U using a zapper peripheral.

iplay1up24224d ago

I think it would be to heavy, and uncomfortable after a half hour or less. Cool though.

herbs4224d ago

If you think the Gamepad is too heavy or uncomfortable you are either weak or you haven't held one. And people bash it for being for children lol...

iplay1up24223d ago (Edited 4223d ago )

No I am not weak...hold your left arm out for a half hour...super scope was fun for short periods.
.
I have Wii U and the controller is great. That is not the point.

Noctis4224d ago

because real guns aren't heavy

truechainz4223d ago

Real guns will be heavier than the gamepad

truechainz4223d ago

I could see maybe uncomfortable, but the gamepad itself actually weighs less that the original xbox controller.

Yep4224d ago

Yeah, definitely this isn't going to be the definitive way to play for others, but the option would be stellar.

BlackWolf4224d ago

Ummm... interesting. Thinking of Dementium played like this.. Damn, it would be nice.

DejectedJeff4224d ago

i cant really see its implementation. you wouldnt have access to enough buttons to play an free moving fps, and i cant see why you'd want to use it for a rail shooter either...

Neonridr4224d ago (Edited 4224d ago )

well you have to figure that a Zapper peripheral would require some buttons on it, either by placing a nunchuck or wiimote inside as well. That would give you access to trigger buttons, etc.

Think of the original Wii Zapper but with a screen mounted on the top end of it.

It would work fantastically for sniper based games.

imagine this http://wiiudaily.com/wii-u-...

Eyeco4224d ago

It's a cool idea for sure, but I feel Oculus Rift is a far more promsing implement of the concept.

As someone who has been gaming nearly as long as gaming has been around (since the early 70's), you'd think I'd be against this. Having grown up with all the major platforms and the whole notion of physical ownership... but I'm not. i embrace this as it is a revolutionary convenience. And one i know for a fact many (especially here) have not even given the fair chance to use. I get it... i was there too. But now i have a new outlook on it. It really is a hell of an option if you just want to play with no commitments. By no means am i saying this should replace traditional gaming, its an option. And one that people should look at optimistically as a way to compliment traditional gaming. There is room for both to thrive.

I tend to use streaming on new games in GamePass. To see if I like the game. If I do, I'll download it for a better experience. It's so convenient & useful.
