Boasting an Intel Core i7 3820 Quad-Core 3.6GHz CPU, 12 GB 1600-MHz DDR3 RAM, and Nvidia GeForce GTX 660, the X700 is no slouch. The Lenovo IdeaCentre Erazer X700 is an excellent PC that, although a bit pricey at $1,699.99, is a rig that gets the job done.

Lenovo is trying an experiment. In May, it will officially become the very first company outside of Valve to ship a handheld gaming PC with the Steam Deck’s wonderfully pick-up-and-play SteamOS instead of Microsoft Windows.
And at $499, it’ll be a true Steam Deck rival, joining it as one of the lower-priced PC handhelds you can buy.
Just release the Steam OS and let us install it anywhere, i'd gladly make a 2nd partition with SteamOS on my Rog Ally.
Hey, just curious, what were the top features that contributed to your Rog Ally purchase decision over the other rival platforms? I mean your personal opinion.
Mostly performance. It's a beast of a handheld, and it can emulate PS3, Xbox 360 and Switch just fine, even PS4 according to some youtube vids. Steam Deck can barely run some PS3 / Switch games in comparison. The problem is that it uses Windows, so it can be a hit or miss sometimes.
It's not official yet, but sources suggest that the Lenovo Legion Go handheld PC will launch in October ready to take on the Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally.

I feel like manufacturers are missing the mark when it comes to the display. Steam Deck's 800p is dense enough for the form factor and 1080p/1200p seems pushing it.
Now we're getting into 1440p territory, it's not like energy efficiency or performance have caught up yet at all. What's the point when virtually no game will run reasonably at native resolution on this portable device?
And it's a 144hz screen too. I'm not even sure if it would be able to do 1440p/144hz with a game like Hades. Feels like prioritizing numbers/specs over being realistic, this should be a 1080p screen (720p would be a step too far on a nearly 9 inch screen probably).
Yeah, I do agree. Personally, the Switch OLED is one of the best mobile displays I've seen and used; I'd be perfectly fine if that same screen made it to a Deck OLED even with the extra 80p taken away.
But these devices are much more powerful and bigger, so 1080p60 with VRR would make more sense. Buuuut look at modern games, the Series S can't even hit 720p in some cases anymore but handheld makers are like "here's your handheld with a display fit for an RTX 4070"
900p on the ROG Ally is the sweet spot for performance and longevity.
And the high refresh rate makes a world of difference -- playing COD on the steamdeck vs the Ally feels (and looks) like night & day.
Looks very chonky lol. As I've said again, handheld PCs are still too early. Terrible performance, the machines turn very hot and cooling is too bare bones, huge and heavy, and batteries die quick defeating the purpose of it being a handheld. If you're spending $700+ on a pc handheld, you might as well get a desktop. That high resolution will absolutely destroy the battery and games will run terrible unless they're just small titles or for emulation.
Really, the only pc handheld that is worth it, is the steam deck.
Agreed. Valve made a lot of smart choices with the Deck to maximize efficiency vs raw performance - the screen resolution included. It’s sharp enough to be a good experience but the fill rate is easy to hit for most games at good performance. If it had an OLED I’d basically have zero complains
I agree with everything you said except this point:

-this is marketed at people like me who want to have pc gaming on the go. To think any potential consumer doesn't already have a pc or console is a stretch.
It still doesn't look comfortable given the size and button location but it looks a good product and I like that the controllers remove. 1440p is overkill though, 1080p is the sweet spot on things like this.
I dont have a Steamdeck yet but I've been itching to get one. I love the specs on this thing, that 8.8in 1440p?, screen will dazzle, battery life probably will be terrible but other than that this seems like it's made for me, hmm??? those sticks can be removed, gotta see how those feel. I'll wait for some more info & early reviews but this might just finally be the handheld I've been waiting for.

Doesn't look very comfortable to hold. Stick and buttons right at the top. Surely it'll feel like you're just gripping the top of it.
@stoney101 It’s obvious you’ve never held a Steam Deck. Lol Even though it’s a little heavy, it’s the most comfortable handheld I’ve ever held. There are others who also agree with my sentiment.

I mean, I love many things about the Steam Deck, but it's a pretty big stretch to act like it's comfortable to hold compared to older, smaller handhelds with a similar form factor like GBA, PSP, Vita, or even Switch Lite. It's a pretty chunky device.
Yeah steam deck is comfortable for some, but for me it gives me huge strain in my fingers. Its not really suitable for small hands. I have to choose between using the analogue sticks or the triggers since I cant reach both at the same time. Very very annoying. I only use it for none shooters now.

@neon I own a Rog Ally and even that makes the hands ache because of the position of everything after a while. This is even larger.
I’ll pass. I have a Deck and an Ally that’s enough for me. Ally does EXACTLY what I need it to do.
WHAT!? That is way OVERPRICED! $1,200 can get you a much more powerful system.
