How to Set Color Depth (Bits Per Pixel) On Xbox One

Hardcore Gamer: Three options are given: 24 bits per pixel, 30 bits for pixel and 36 bits per pixel. There is, however, no explanation for what these means and reading the official FAQ doesn't make it any more clear. We break it down.

i like xbox tv calibration however they seem to have left out the sharpness calibration which would help for some who have their sharpness off .

buynit4223d ago

What calibration? I went through the tutorial thing but it wouldnt let me adjust anything it just explained it. I didnt know what the bits was about either so i just set it to 36..

NarcolepZZZZZZ4223d ago

It isn't on the initial setup. It's in settings.

buynit4223d ago

Im trying to learn the ins and outs of everything.. Its kind of hard with ki and forza, i want to take the time to learn the new console and kinect but i just cant stop playing. And just saying snap tv just for the hell of it... Lol

The settings greater than 24 bpp are probably used by the upscaler, and by TVs which have movie Motionflow (that's the Sony name) type technology, which renders "inbetween" frames from otherwise 24-60 Hz source material.

sharpened sense4223d ago

I have noticed that when I set the color space to TV its grayish but when I set it to PC, I get my full Blacks. I'm playing on a 65" Panasonic vt60 Plasma.

BX814223d ago

Damn 65"? I used to have a 50" that was too damn big for me. I found it harder to game on. I felt like I had to make my self look around the whole screen when playing bf3, loved it for 3d though. I use a 32" now. Perfect for me. I bet that 65" is great for movies.

sharpened sense4223d ago

I have had 60", 65" and 70" hdtv's for years and can't imagine going smaller again. But the resolution difference in battlefield 4 between PS3 and PS4 is hugely noticible on the big tv's.

Mkai284223d ago (Edited 4223d ago )

24-bits per pixel is known as True Color, 30/36/48-bits per pixel is known as Deep Color..
This would explain 3rd party games like BattleField 4 and COD Ghost being more colorful on XBOX ONE..

Detoxx4223d ago (Edited 4223d ago )

That makes no sense. You can always increase your TV colour.

Mkai284223d ago (Edited 4223d ago )

What I mean is the colors are more vibrant( colors pop out more). You can't get 36 bits (68.71 billion colors) effect just by simply adjusting the colors on your tv or monitor. What's strange is I know the PS4 can support this, may be they will put it in an update where you can change the color depth to 24/32/36/48-bits per pixel?

Detoxx4223d ago

So the higher the better?

Mkai284222d ago (Edited 4222d ago )

Yes, but only with HD content. Deep Color™: HDMI 1.3 supports 30-bit, 36-bit and 48-bit (RGB or YCbCr) color depths, up from the 24-bit depths in previous versions of the HDMI specification.(HDMI1.2)

Most HDTVs support it(1080p) LCD /LED. But this is more up scaled colors because it's only at 8 bits..

With this one they'll lose Silent Hill essence and make this a Fatal Frame game.

Not a fan of this direction.

I hope it's a remake of the 1st game. But it's probably just the PS5 version of Red Dead Redemption 2

OtterX1d 1h ago

I hope a PS5 upgrade launches on the same day as announcement & it costs no more than $10. I already bought the Ultimate Edition once, they got good money from me.

I stopped playing completely 2 years ago until they did 60fps. I really didn't expect it would take this long & I didn't want to start completely over on PC.

dmonee13h ago

My wish is that its optimized for current gen machines, with some sort of story expansion. Undead nightmare 2! My 2nd wish is that it just shadow drops on the day of the announcement!.

Lionsguard13h ago

Give me my RDR2 Undead Nightmare already.
