How To Activate Your New Primary PS4 if Old Console Was Attached to Broken/Fixed PS4

Some people have been getting some issues with activating their new primary PS4 while their broken PS4 is getting fixed. If you happen to be one of these folks, you might see this pop up on your screen.

LakerGamerEnthusiast4169d ago

I was fortunate enough to mention this to the CS rep I spoke too when I was reporting my faulty ps4. I mentioned to her that I had activated the console as my primary and if she could deactivate it before I sent it in to them.

She did so and now when I receive the new system I can just activate it as my primary as if I never had the faulty one.

cell9894169d ago

Didn't Sony allowed us to deactivate all our systems through the Sony website? Qriocity?

NarooN4168d ago

Yep, still works as far as I know. I had to do it last year to deactivate an old PS3 system that was dead forever.

GenericNameHere4169d ago

Can I also deactivate my PS3 from the official site? My phat PS3 broke a week before Christmas four years ago. Got a Slim for Christmas, but I couldn't deactivate that Phatty. Since then, I had to go on my dad's account to download stuff from the movies section because my Master account won't let me download them.

Section84167d ago

It clearly states that you cannot deactivate a system from a pc or psp. Which is really retarded since then you're screwed.

ZombieKiller4168d ago

I have to send mine out on Monday. They actually said I would get it back within a weeks time. I think theyre swapping them instead of repairing at this point. I'll just deactivate when I ship it out.

I'm thankful for Sony this Thanksgiving lol! Although only a minor problem, my ethernet port works intermittently. I've been using wireless to get by, but everyone knows wired is way better.

I love Shuhei, but since he left you can’t shut him up! For so long he was an unofficial spokesman for PlayStation in that he was public facing and would regularly talk to the media, then he was moved and he was effectively silenced. I think this is him getting everything of his chest.

gold_drake6d ago

hes definitely alot more vocal lately ha

jznrpg6d ago

It’s probably a handful of interviews dissected into a 100 articles

S2Killinit6d ago

Ghost will be another banger Im looking forward to.

Reaper22_6d ago

Coming up next week on Yoshida Says.

dveio5d ago

In the first 3 minutes of the podcast, Yoshida instantly says that since he has left, he's showing up in various different podcasts.

I mean that's just honest right? Which means that he is self-aware of it and isn't acting like they all should be grateful.

He's 30+ years of Playstation, and probably 40 years of Sony. I am convinced he hasn't even scratched the stories and anecdotes yet he could actually tell.

Great guy! He's enjoying it.

Ex-PlayStation Boss Thinks Nintendo Might Be "Losing Its Identity" With Switch 2 Reveal

Former PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida lamented on the Nintendo Switch 2's reveal focusing on technical prowess and third-party ports.

Reaper22_8d ago

Will somebody give this guy a job. Coming up next week on Yoshida says......

pwnmaster30008d ago

Kind of like Phil.
When you have enough money you don’t need to work.

Reaper22_8d ago

Phil still has his job though. It seems like this guy is out here trying to stay relevant. Sony has moved on and so should he.

gold_drake7d ago

to be fair, we hear phil way too often.
and its always bs with no substance

TheCaptainKuchiki7d ago

He's retired, he's now free to say whatever he wants.
When you're a company executive, you have to be politically correct at all times. Not anymore

MatrixxGT8d ago

Agreed. First time since NES/SNES that Nintendo hasn’t done something totally different with it’s successors.

Not being able to play latest and greatest games in a few years will really make it a tougher sell at $500 when ps6/Xbox-whatever comes out.

At $350 it’s kind of a second console/kid toy purchase.

jznrpg8d ago (Edited 8d ago )

450$ with 80$ games

MDTunkown8d ago

They can’t keep doing something new forever.
Switch 2 gimmick is mouse. So switch 2 is similar to 3ds compared to previous console

Knushwood Butt8d ago

Is there a mouse on both sides?

MatrixxGT7d ago

Hence why they are “losing its identity”. Nintendo known for its gimmicks and doing something weird and new.
A mouse and game chat aren’t new and certainly wouldn’t consider them gimmicks. At least 3DS had glasses free 3D.

Lionsguard8d ago

This could be the Wii-U all over again.

Kneetos7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

It's unlikely to be a Wii U all over again because the switch 2 actually has games people want to play from launch

Eldin ring (port) alone is better then the entire Wii U launch line up, mario kart, as expensive as it is looks mad fun, way more promise the super mario bros U

And while donly Kong is no mario, the new DK game looks great

And there are lots more to play on the switch 2 while the Wii U kinda ... Didnt

DEKUX128d ago

And so has Sony ya used to make good games now ya don’t make shit and use actors in the games trash

Yoshida Wasn't Considered for PlayStation CEO Since He Wasn't Trusted to Make Best Business Decision

Shuhei Yoshida he always wanted to do something "interesting, " and he was maybe a little too crazy like Ken Kutaragi.

-Foxtrot10d ago

Probably would have made better ones than Jim Ryan

Cacabunga9d ago

Yes can’t get worse.. but he would be no brainer choice against Hulst.

VenomUK9d ago

Jim Ryan was at the top when Concord was greenlit and when Sony stepped back from almost all PR - launching a new product, PSVR2, without even a video reveal. However, he was able to launch a console successfully, and keep the PlayStation division profitable, how many other console CEOs who launched a console in late 2020 can say the same thing?!

Notellin9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

@VenomUK down on your knees polishing the boots as usual.

anast8d ago

Anyone beside Kotick, Howard, and Wilson would have been better.

PanicMechanic6d ago

I defended Jim Ryan during his tenure. Looking back, he should have been fired long ago. Dude smashed a brand into the ground

Furesis9d ago

He's too consumer friendly, can't have that, now hold this live service game that we'll cancel only a week in, now that's the people we want!

Snookies129d ago

God forbid we actually get someone who cares about gaming as CEO, lol. That wouldn't make any sense at all.

SegaSaturn6699d ago

I left playstation in 2022 when steamdeck came out -- way more interesting games. But there was a time, when Shuhei was at the helm when PS was exciting. 2014ish.

Inverno9d ago

He kept pushing for Last Guardian to be published and that alone makes me like the guy. That game was my all time most anticipated game and I don't think SONY of today would've published it.

derek8d ago

It was also a giant waste of money that took far too long to develop and is one of Japan Studios many financial failures.

Gamble208d ago

True, but that also reinforces why the suits would not want him in charge. In the end, the last guardian was a financial failure that somewhat sunk that development team. Even though I agree with his decision to complete it for the fans, ultimately it came at a cost.

Inverno9d ago

He has a likable face, you can only make greasy looking doods into CEOs.
