USA Preorders Chart, 16 November 2013 - Xbox One Launch Estimates

"There are 12 games in the top 40 to be in its final week: 10 of the 12 games are for the Xbox One which launches on November 22. Call of Duty Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome, Dead Rising 3, Madden NFL 25, NBA 2K14, Knack, FIFA Soccer 14, and Need for Speed Rivals.

The Xbox One opening week is in the US is expected to fall just shy of the PlayStation 4. The PlayStation 4 launched with 1.06 million units in the US, while the Xbox One is expected to sell around 900,000 units. However, the Xbox One is also launching in more countries. Xbox One worldwide launch sales are expected to reach between 1.2 and 1.5 million units.

Two games have 200,000 or more pre-orders, down from five last week, and the top 12 has 100,000 or more pre-orders, down from 15 last week. Six games added 20,000 or more pre-orders, up from five last week and 15 added 10,000 or more, down from 20 last week."

It's not going to be 1.2 million worldwide. That's almost impossible. The Xbox One has its flaws, but it's not the Phillips CD-I or the Panasonic 3D0. Also, it's not even releasing world wide until next year.

I'm thinking could hit 1.5 mil on the 22nd from the combined U.S. and EU sales while Sony will hit well over 2mil once it releases in others regions on the 29th.

If a second (smaller) shipment of PS4s hit retail stores this week or some time before black friday I can see Sony hitting 2.3mil for the november month alone. That's obviously if all the stars align and the claim/rumor of having more units in the U.S in time for black comes true.

This article is VERY conniving! Why?

It is showing the top 12 AFTER all the PS4 preorders have been sold (and would no longer count as preorders). If they counted preorders the day BEFORE the PS4 launched, or even compared last day of PS4 preorders to last day of xbone preorders it would not have been conniving. This is why you only see games for ps4 not out yet, on the list.

Plus they state that xbone has more launch countries. If you go to Microsofts xboxone wikipedia.com page and Sonys ps4 page you will see that PS4 launches in 29 countries, and xbone is launching in only 13 countries!

This makes sense and the data has been holding firm. A few months ago I predicted 933,000 PS4 in the US. I was able to do that because of the reliable tie ration between COD and PS4. According to the same data Xbox One will ship between 760,000 and 800,000. If its more than that then it will mean that titles like Ryse and DR3 are becoming more enticing. We will find out soon enough.

I'd rather support a company that takes a bit of a loss while bringing better tech to their customers, but I'm not surprised that you ignore the part where Sony makes a profit as long as a game is purchased with the console. The early numbers show PS4 buyers also bought an average of three games, so yeah Sony is making money. Carry on with your BS, good soldier.

What the hell are you talking about Belking? I costs Sony $382 to build a PS4. Do you know what that means? That means, negating other costs of launching a console, strictly selling the unit makes Sony $18 per unit. How is that losing money on each one sold?

As for MS, we don't know how much it costs to build an Xbox One, but we do know that MS is taking a considerable loss on each Kinect 2.0 sold, with some rumours suggesting it costs as much as the console to build. If anyone is losing money, it's Microsoft. The Xbox Division has never been out of the red since its inception. PS3 may have hit Sony hard, but PS1 and PS2 made Sony A LOT of money, money that MS has never come close to making (in terms of final profit) for their entire foray into gaming.

Does it really matter who sells the most? Having a choice on 2 good products is a luxury. Imagine if we only have 1 choice, how much and what progression and how long would that 1 product take for the next generation? Would be the worst thing for console gamers. I really hope Ryse, Forza, and Dead Rising 3 sell well. Especially Ryse because (barring it is not a complete disaster, which I highly doubt having played it and really enjoyed it) if it sells well it means there is demand for it and it could turn into a nice series of games.

Those pre order numbers are not an accurate indicator of future sale Sony pre orders were higher than what they actually sold in the first week

There are many more ways to get an Xbox one other than preordering it from the usual gaming outlets

And MS stores don't release Pre order numbers plus u could order one through Xbox live

The Xbone will do fine in america and probably end up winning it just like this gen. Of course sony will pummel it in asia and europe, but both systems will do fine.

Because there is no concrete evidence you have that says how many system both MS or Sony have manufactured for launch ...so how do u know for sure MS strategy is spreading themselves thin? that makes no business sense at all....

That is not how marketing works at all...i guarantee u that these 13 launch locations for MS is not arbitrary at all it is a strategic planning being put into effect....u don't neglect your strong hold( in this case north America for MS) by short handing your highest potential sale locations ,so to speak, for the sake of risk and uncertainty of weaker markets....... that in itself is idiotic.... and when it comes to making money i will be the first to tell you MS is no idiot

The date MS chose to launch was not arbitrary either its from strategic planning again for whatever reasons could be it was enough time to get manufacturing numbers up to whatever number they targeted who knows? what we do know is the date is historic being the exact date they launch their previous console on.

So saying MS spreading out their consoles, like each company is govern by some kinda rule to say how many launch console u can produce, is an illegitimate statement

Two words... supply constraints... the ps4 would have had greater sales if more had been available to sell... The same problem will happen with the xbox. Unfortunately from what I have heard the xbox was more supply constrained so it may not sell as as well through the holidays... The tell tale will be whether you find a console sitting on a shelf somewhere this holiday season for either system.
