Call of Duty Ghosts Multiplayer Review | TheGameJar

Anthony Richardson - "It’s been a slightly quieter release for Call of Duty Ghosts when compared to previous titles; for the past five-or-so years each game has held the record for ‘biggest entertainment release in human history’. This time, Activision’s public comments are focused more on blaming poorer-than-usual sales on the impending next-gen console releases.

It’s also the lowest scoring console game in the series, with the 360 version averaging 74 on metacritic. Previous entries in the series averaged strongly in the 80s and 90s. Destructoid rated Ghosts at 5/10, calling it “a disappointing step backward”. As is usually the case with online games ‘journalism’, I’m here to explain why I disagree with all of this."

one of the reasons is going straight into modern shooting era.. they forgot that cod is a shooter and you shoot with guns... it literally had no guns.. only modern crap weapons.. no cool old school weapons.. gameplay was so bad I dont even want to start... maps felt the same, again, with that overused future taste... they went even further.. they forgot to add number of bullets each weapon has in the character creation menu.. (I play only hardcore, it was difficult for me to find out how many bullets the guns had...) on the good note I traded COD ghosts and dont have to suffer no more.. I feel bad for my self, I didnt have to buy it in the first place..

I strongly recommend BF, Killzone or even tetris.. but not this, non stop spawn kill me in the back multiplayer!

lawgone3965d ago (Edited 3965d ago )

I agree there were some steps forward like the increased bullet damage...Core is actually playable now. And I like that there aren't as many things in the air. But they've left some of the things that suck. If you hit some one with a couple bullets they are still capable of sprinting or occasionally turning and killing you. Quick scoping, while reduced, still exists. Knives are still more powerful than guns and respawning still has its issues of enemies spawning right behind you. (There should be a happy medium between that and what Battlefield does, which is put you out in the middle of nowhere.) Or, "Oh, you called in a care package? Cool, we're gonna spawn someone next to you then." There are still only a couple game types for hardcore.

But the game seems to be lacking some of the fun of previous games. There's no nuketown, no sharpshooter or gun game. The maps are kind of boring. Other than Stonehaven there is nothing visually interesting about them. Free fall is awful. You're supposedly in a skyscraper but you can't even tell for the most part. And what's the deal with creating a bunch of different characters and having to level up each one??

Oh, and it's been a week now...can you get the clan details page to work?

Soldierone3965d ago

I feel the same way in terms of it lacking things from past games. I don't understand why they did that really.

As for gun games, its still there, its just actual game modes now. Hunted for example would be a gun game, you just play on a team instead.

lawgone3965d ago

Yeah I like the traditional gun game though where it changes to a different gun each time you kill someone.

ShowGun9013965d ago

im happy with ghosts multi, simply BECAUSE they took out some of the lamest and cheapest things. seriously, who thought some of the things in the past games wouldn't be abused...

you can STILL get shotgun kills, theyre just not OP. you can STILL call in killstreaks, its just that one of them isn't a gamechanger anymore. you can still use perks, but none of them are so good they make 5 others obsolete. no more tac inserts or QS'ing or REDICULOUS tacticals...

...but i don't really care what camo's they include, i usually just stick with traditional black anyway LOL

Matt6663965d ago

the mp is just terrible, the perks help campers out so where ever you go there some one always camping around a corner and there still a ton of lag and bs in Ghosts. The C4 can still be thrown a stupid distance, there quick scoping in there, the "dynamic" features is lame compared to other games, what the point of character customization if you can't see your own legs, the knife is still way over powered. I think I stick to CSS and BF3.

I've played all the cod series and this game has to be the worst so far...
Nightmare spawning, I'm alive 3 steps forward sh..t dead again!!!
Where is everyone! got it 6 players in a huge map, 4 camping 2 dying somewhere and re spawning in a random place! WILL I EVER FIND ANYONE!!
Graphics detailed but not clear, everything is small and detailed on Ghost the only thing big is the maps!
Maps are boring...I could go on and on!
I've given it 9 days and the only close thing I've come to doing is throwing the ps3 controller at tv!!
Back to Black ops 2 for me.
Activision listen, get it back to where you started, stop trying to change what work's, if players want large maps let them go to Battlefield, Cod is a quick shoot em up close combat fierce fight, mix black ops2/mw2 with cod 4 and you will have a perfect game.

All Call of Duty Games Ranked from Worst to Best

BLG writes: "Call of Duty has to be the most recognizable franchise on the planet. They didn’t get that way by only making a handful of games.

COD has a long and storied career. Launching as a PC WW2 first-person shooter, Call of Duty has gone through numerous makeovers and been on just about every system. The series has gone through some serious highs and tragic lows. I’ll be looking at each Call of Duty game, the good the bad, and the ugly."

Vanguard better be at the fkn bottom. Can’t believe ppl haven’t eviscerated that game with all its lacking

Minimoth951d ago

Yeah, it's close to the bottom. There are a couple of worse ones. Infinite Warfare definitely deserves its place.

KyRo951d ago

There's a number a lot worse than Vangaurd. It's also a lot better than that car crash Treyarch released before it.

XbladeTeddy951d ago

World at War is my favourite. Didn't know the N-Gage had a Call of Duty.

MadLad950d ago

Same for me.
I was never huge into Call of Duty, but I sunk a lot of time into WaW.
Both the campaign and the multiplayer are on point. Wouldn't mind a remaster.

I quit on CoD for a long while. Though I'm the odd man out that actually really enjoyed the campaign for WWII, being I got it through Humble monthly way back when.

TheLigX951d ago

I really enjoyed the Infinite campaign. Multiplayer... not so much.

Yppupdam951d ago

I agree, The Infinite campaign feels more like it's own thing that they slapped the CoD name on. If it stood on it's own, (sans the CoD name) I think it could have been it's own scifi franchise. And a damn good looking game, to boot. I never bothered to play the multiplayer.

victorMaje951d ago

MW 2019 apart from the desastrous file sizes is way better than AW.

MadLad950d ago

That was one I grabbed for Playstation because it pretty much just came out during the Redbox purge of videogames, and I got it for dirt cheap.

It was great coming home to an update every night, and watching one game eat up almost half my console's memory.

Amplitude951d ago (Edited 951d ago )

Will get disagrees but Infinite Warfare campaign was really good. Decent story, set pieces were amazing and if it didn't have the CoD game on it I'm sure people would have been more into it. Advanced Warfare was alright too. Titanfall 2 was just 1000 times better than both but I enjoyed them for their campaigns. I literally barely gaf about the story I'm in it for the set pieces and 5 hours of being stoned watching cool nonsense happen if I'm in the mood to play a CoD campaign. If I'm looking for a deep plot I'm gonna go somewhere else.
Ghosts was the worst story-wise though lol that cliffhanger ending was so bs.

Also MW 2019 was sick and is one of the best CoD games in yeeeears not sure why it's so low on this dude's list. Campaign was great, multiplayer was great and Warzone was fun for a while. Over it now but shrugs.

Beat the Vanguard campaign too but I can't even remember a single thing about it other than that it felt like it was 45 minutes long. Might be the most forgettable thing I've ever played lol just fully erased from my brain

Wore implementation I've ever seen,.. guess it just does not work all that great on every engine

MarkyMark891912d ago (Edited 1912d ago )

Agree, but this gives me hope that one day Ray Tracing can be a software based feature and not require some type of proprietary hardware to achieve. Software will always outpace Hardware so it could happen, but I feel like its going to take a lot more time to achieve the same level that RTX has already shown glimpses of so far. Really just waiting for Cyberpunk to see if RTX is actually something viable. I think if anybody can truly showcase RTX Features it would be Projekt Red.

zeal0us1912d ago

Too bad it doesn't make Mankind Divided a better game.

starchild1912d ago

It doesn't need to, the game was already fantastic, imo.

zeal0us1912d ago

Human Revolution was a better game and not to mention longer.

isarai1912d ago

Reshade is not raytracing, its a screen space post processing effect. Thats like calling SSAO "global illumination"
