i'm interested in Wildstar, although it's optimism heavily laced with caution. i just don't have a lot of confidence in the MMO market, they're too mired in ancient mechanics and game design philosophies, and they cater to the masses too much instead of trying to take the games to the next level.

with that said, though, Wildstar seems like it could be pretty solid.

also, i have a question for anyone in the know about Star Citizen. how much of the game can be spent as your character (aka your avatar)? can you actually get out of your ship and roam around, or walk around inside your ship, or do any missions as your character? basically, can you do anything useful or progression-based as your character, or is almost everything ship-based?

Star Citizen for me. Although I would love to return to Evercrack, I feel the art-style isn't to my liking. I love the ideas they are implementing, but I want to relive the days of my D&D gaming and be pulled into an incredible realm.

As for Star Citizen questions, I am not an expert but that certainly seems the case. While piloting a star ship is certainly important, I don't believe it is the be all and end all. If you think back to Wing Commander, it wasn't a story where you were just a robot that went out and killed Kilrathi. There was a very human, interactive element to it.

no Archage
no Black Desert
no Bless
no Monster Hunter Online

hmmm dont feel this list is all that.
yeah i agree with Star Citizen, Everquest Next, Camelot Unchained & Wildstar

but i cant see TES Online taking off at all, and im a huge TES fan....

Well besides Monster Hunter Online, those three games are Korean. Korean MMO's have amazing visuals and that's it. Otherwise they all feel the same.

nhaaa not these 3......
ArchAge is great, something different.
loved it in the Korean Beta a few months back.

Zenimax Studios would have more TES fans over if they had went the B2P route instead of P2P. Most people I've seen don't like the idea of spending $50-60 on the game itself then having to pay $15/month. Some question the $15 sub plus the addition of cash shop.

It seems that developers these days are really trying to dig deep into gamers' wallets. Not too long ago you just paid for your video game and that was it. Now you have to buy then pay more for DLCs and then there are MMOs that have both a subscription fee *and* a cash shop.

@Dagobert Wildstar was founded by some of the veteran designers from WoW and the studio is based in SoCal. NCSoft is a korean company but that doesn't mean all their game are korean influenced.
