Despite the numerous delays, in terms of anticipation, DayZ Standalone is still at the top of my list. And yes, as the article briefly touched upon, the zombies are a bigger threat in DayZ Standalone, however, the game is still best served through player-to-player encounters, which are far more frantic and heart pumping than thwarting z-freaks.

Based on the development updates, DayZ looks to bring more balance to player interaction, which in theory will mediate the mod's current, "shoot on site" philosophy.

Yeah I heard about that, something to do with gear becoming damaged if you kill a player by shooting them.

My question is whats to stop you from executing them after you've held them up and stripped them of their belongings?

Well...I can imagine the holding up part being particularly dangerous because of the threat of zombies as well as the threat of other people coming upon your little exchange.

I really haven't seen any official statement about it but I think the DayZ standalone has been named "Human Element".

Its listed for next gen consoles on IGN also.

Pretty solid list of the best zombie games.

Sadie21004202d ago

How to Survive is definitely interesting, but it makes me want to play Dead Nation and not worry about food and water and all that.

Raistlinhawke4202d ago

I always felt that the best stories to tackle zombies used the actual creatures as a more secondary threat. As a monster, they feel better suited to be a reflection of the worst of humanity than any credible danger.

kenthegreat14202d ago

Humans ARE always the real monster.

Unless there's actual monsters, then that's far worse.

Nobody bought it for an obvious reason.

Gamingsince198172d ago

Wtf did this edition come with ? A real helicopter and a real zombie virus ?

Vithar72d ago

For one lucky person willing to spend $386,000, the My Apocalypse Edition of Dying Light promised a staggering collection. It included the buyer’s face in the game, a human-sized ‘Volatile’ statue, and parkour lessons with a freerunning team. It also came with night vision goggles, an all-expenses paid round trip to Techland’s offices, and four signed copies of the game. Oh, and it also came with a custom-built, ‘zombie-proof’ survival shelter.

LOL but it was a stunt from the team:
‘It was a PR stunt and got a lot of media attention for its wild and over-the-top nature, it was designed to generate buzz around the game’s release. It did a great job of getting the game noticed, though! But nobody purchased it – thankfully, I guess!’

I finally beat DL2 this past weekend. I’ll pick up the Beast for sure.

It got a lot of shit from fans more not being as scary at night on release. I was in that boat. But once I gave it a fair shot I really loved it. The movement was so much more expressive to me. I enjoyed the story too.... for the most part. Was my game of the year when it came out. With all the updates for darker nights and all that, it's even better. I feel almost exactly the same about stalker 2 right now. The erojank games are scratching my itch.
