It's currently on sale I'm sure. I nearly bought it. That's kind of a dick move Sony.

XCOM 2 is currently $59.99 on PSN in NA. It's literally full price, so unless things are different in Europe i have no clue what you are talking about?

Xcom 2 is a fantastic game. Perhaps it being offered for free relates to the little rumours about another expansion in the horizon. Certainly a more appealing option if everyone has their hands on Xcom 2.

MONOLITHICIDE2174d ago

Never got to try xcom2. Had xcom for ps3. Great month for me.

Chaosdreams2174d ago

Xcom2 is great, but I'd suggest enjoying it with the War of the Chosen expansion installed. It provides a lot more content (think of the base game expanding in width). It also provides quality of life improvements (base game has a tendency to rush you through a map / which you can adjust with WOC).

Either way, this is a win for anyone into these type of games.

MONOLITHICIDE2174d ago

Chaosdreams
Thank you for the suggestion. Will look into.

IamTylerDurden12173d ago

I love XCOM, i even have it on VITA. I actually Platinumed The Bureau and felt as though that game was unfairly judged. The Bureau had great combat that played like an early Mass Effect game with a mix of real time or turn based gameplay.

joab7772174d ago

Get everyone who didn’t buy it to own it for free, and once they r hooked...expansion!

gangsta_red2174d ago

Xcom 2 is absolutely terrific. I highly recommend you get the War of the Chosen DLC along with the other add ons to make the game even better.

showtimefolks2174d ago

I have never played any is it super hard? I am bad in general in turn based games

Is there an easy or normal setting or is it just one difficulty for all

UCForce2174d ago

There is rookie mode and veteran mode aka easy mode and normal mode. But the game is still challenging.

Eiyuuou2174d ago

The RNG is pretty brutal, yeah.

showtimefolks2174d ago

cool i will give it a shot thanks

gangsta_red2174d ago

I would not play this on any other mode besides normal. It really is doing a dis-service especially when strategy is key. Having it on easy mode would take the fun out of the game.

MrVux0002174d ago

Just don't check "iron-man" mode and you''ll be fine. And yes there are multiple difficulties.

Kribwalker2174d ago

definitely a better offering the Smite lol. i’ll give it a go

2173d ago
Kribwalker2173d ago

i know, it’s pretty terrible. My only guess is maybe they are gonna give a couple games out over E3 cause the smite pack is junk

IamTylerDurden12173d ago (Edited 2173d ago )

Xbox GwG offered a free 2 play and 1/3 of a 2D side scroller, essentially. It was smart for them to give out the AC Chronicles Collection in thirds. That way they can give 1/3 of it each month, it stretches their dollar. I believe all AC Chronicles have now been offered on GwG. Much smarter than giving the entire collection at once, though a bit cheap.

Hardiman2174d ago

War of the Chosen is a pretty big expansion isn't it? Seems like I read it was like a whole game. Either way I'm gonna get the expansions when I download Xcom.

gangsta_red2174d ago

It adds so much to the game as well as updated UI. I wouldn't play Xcom 2 without it.

UCForce2174d ago (Edited 2174d ago )

Meh ? You know Xcom 2 is pretty fantastic. The game is not a garbage. Of course, if you are not into turn base game of course, then I understand.

Segata2174d ago

I love RPGs but only SRPGs I could get into are Valkria Chronicles,Shining Force and Fire Emblem. XCOM doesn't look like it's for me. So I agree. Meh.

UCForce2174d ago

@Segata Well, Xcom series is brutal game. So I understand that.

kneon2173d ago

I have no interest in turn based games, I had enough of that back in the stone age when we had to play with actual people on a physical board sitting at a table.

2pacalypsenow2174d ago

Xcom 2 is great and so is Ghost Recon.

P_Bomb2174d ago (Edited 2174d ago )

To be honest, nothing about Xcom or RTS appeals to me in the slightest. On any level. Just nothing. Tried watching an old GT review of Xcom2 just now as a refresher; looked so boring and drab I couldn’t even finish the review.

Trials Fusion I’ll give a go. Not a fan of the futuristic maps so I never bought it, but I enjoyed Trials HD and Trials Evolution on 360 quite a bit. For free, I’ll reconsider.

Ghost Recon Future Soldier, buddy would dig that one. If he hadn’t sold his PS3 to get a PS4. Less than a year left for PS3 games on PS+ I think?

Elda2174d ago (Edited 2174d ago )

Pretty much. It's a turn based strategy game, something I never got into except for the recent South Park game which was fun but this looks frustrating & boring like the first one.

nowitzki20042173d ago

All games are more boring to watch than play. Try playing it, what have you got to lose?

IamTylerDurden12173d ago (Edited 2173d ago )

XCOM 2 is much more than just turn based gameplay. It features a legitimate story, resource/base management, loot, crafting, and team building and customization. Recruiting agents, customizing them, and leveling them up is my favorite part. XCOM 2 features far more agent customization from purely aesthetic to varied skill trees that enable a uniquely diverse squad exactly how you want them.

I just picked up X com 2 on steam key from GameFlip last week. Granted I only dropped $5 for it. I still play it PS4 for trophies at least. Picked up Trials Fusion a few years ago, fun game.

Atomic Ninjas Review | Pocket Gamer

The online multiplayer-only genre is such a minefield for developers.

If your game doesn't pick up a multitude of players from the get-go it's destined to drift along for eternity, the occasional player logging in, finding no-one, and logging out again.
