The first thing Thomas Compton IV wants to note is that this game does not require any system update, which is a plus considering the risks involved with updates on the Wii U. Once loaded Thomas was greeted with a bright pink screen with a parade of characters. You are then prompted to press a Start button located on the GamePad to enter the main game. From there, player’s can access three (3) different categories of play (TV Party, House Party, and Gamepad Party) each with their own various game modes. The main screen also includes a section dedicated specifically to the mini-games, a Suggestion button (The game makes suggestions of what to play), and one other that Thomas covers later. The TV Party category boasts three (3) board-game-like games, the Balldozer, and a game simply titled Team Building. Thomas has yet to play Team Building so he will elaborate on the others now. (Beware of spoilers.)
2013 saw Nintendo release many quality titles--Fire Emblem: Awakening, Super Mario 3D World, Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds among them--but it was hardly the best of times financially. Wii U sales are sluggish, some people are calling for executive resignations, and others are saying that the publisher needs to radically change its business practices. All of this will make for an interesting 2014, one that we're going to predict… RIGHT NOW.
Glitch Cat - All in all, Wii Party U has a wide variety of gameplay modes and mini-games that make the game worthwhile. The fact that it is being bundled with a Wii U Remote sweetens the deal yet gimmicky games, faulty AI and some really boring mini-games may keep some players away. If party games are your thing, and you have friends willing to play it, you will definitely find some fun here. Otherwise, look for fun somewhere else.
GaminRealm: Nintendo plans on going out of 2013 releasing only “casual” mainstream titles for the Wii U such as Super Mario 3D World, Wii Fit U and Wii Sports Club. You know, the kind of games that grandma and grandpa plays. In the hopes that it will make the console sell more but I highly doubt it. But starting next year, Nintendo will be focusing heavily on games aimed at the “enthusiastic gamer”.
Can't believe he didn't mention Mario Kart 8. That game looks like the 8th wonder. :)
I had a WiiU, it got stolen :(
I may pick one up next year if I see a good deal on Kijiji, other than that, I will wait until the holidays/2015.
Maybe by then there will be enough games to make me actually use it more than 1-2 times a month.
I have been waiting ages to get some proper Nintendo games in HD, and so far Nintendo has blown it.
I bought one and sold it already. Because there s no game. Atleast there s no game for me.
Great review as always man i actually wouldn't mind to try this out:)
