It’s a bad sign when a new twin-stick shooter can’t offer even half of the excitement or variety of five-year-old genre champ Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2, but that’s sadly the case with Hexodius. Granted, rather than simply challenge you to notch high scores in taut, leaderboard-climbing trials — which are also present as side challenges — this Live Arcade release links together dozens of stages, a handful of boss fights, and numerous ship upgrades within a main campaign mode.
