I wouldn't really want them to take much from NV to be honest, I mean the whole faction thing made things a little complicated because when you were playing for the first time you could p*** off the wrong faction and when you've got far in the game you'll realised what you've done wrong when it comes to do a certain mission and realise you've buggered it all up meaning you might need to start again, now I don't know about you but I like unique weapons and armour so if something like that has happened and it's f***** up then I would be ticked off.

I guess the same goes for the different choices towards the end, so many missions missed because you get to choose just one arc at the end, yeah it's nice to have those choices but all those missions from the other choices you'll never be able to do because you didn't choose that side. I'd rather have one or two options and keep more missions for those two choices. More missions mean a longer overall story

I never liked how in NV you only gained a perk ever two levels, they said it was because people became too powerful in Fallout 3 but isn't that the point of working out a character and choosing the best perks. If thats the case don't have too many good perks at the beginning, bring them on later when we get to level 15 or something.

MadLad4273d ago

And I am on the other side of every concern you had with the game. :p

Those are some of the reasons I enjoyed New Vegas far more than 3. Hell, it's high on my personal favorite games in general.

MrSwankSinatra4273d ago

me personally id have to agree with you. i tried to play as neutral as possible but theres no way you can complete every single mission without pissing off another faction. that is one thing i hated about new vegas.

-Foxtrot4273d ago

I know...i tried to do it but even the first mission with goodsprings where you take on the power gangers you were then hated by them after

Matt6664273d ago (Edited 4273d ago )

A nice balance between 3 and New Vegas would be nice and also somewhere to put your weapons etc this time unlike New Vegas and they shouldn't take too much from Skyrim or it might ruin the Fallout experience.

Moncole4273d ago (Edited 4273d ago )

Thats whats great about NV. Helping one faction can get another one mad and hate you. You can help the NCR and kill every bandit that attacks you like the Powder Gangers or Legion and on the second playthough you can do the opposite. It adds a lot more replayability. This is what an RPG with choices should do. The game doesnt need to be dumb down and casulized.

And on PC there is a mod so you can get a perk every level.

-Foxtrot4273d ago

Yeah but what about the options for players who want to be netural, thats also a choice which isnt present in the game.

You talk about more playthroughs but most people with RPGs like to focus on the one playthrough to make their character the best they can. So dont say its casual and dumbing it down when it wont

Oblivion did this perfectly

Palaven4273d ago (Edited 4273d ago )

You can't please everyone, you have to upset people and take sides at some point.

Being able to play neutral would remove a whole aspect of the game and ruin the choices you make throughout, they might as well just scrap the faction reputation mechanic.

Campy da Camper4272d ago (Edited 4272d ago )

I'm with foxtrot. If I have to pick sides then make it a total game changer. I pick the rebels? OK so now I play the whole game doing their missions and getting their story. Replay? OK? So now I side with the empire and the whole game changes. Different levels and quests cut scenes the works. I hate replaying a game and making different choices only to have some small dialogue change from "you! Leave now!" To "you! Hi friend!" Yet I have to redo the exact same stuff I did the first time.

Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX was just announced. who cares about this

Dasteru4273d ago

An HD remaster of a niche game vs Fallout 4...

showtimefolks4273d ago

Lunatic_Medic

yeh we are so stupid that we will be 2 HD collections to get the complete series and spend $80 or get Fallout 4 which will be 60 and be better

SE i greedy that's why they needed 2 HD collection and charge full price twice, i will get both HD collections down the road when i can get both for $15-20

MrSwankSinatra4273d ago (Edited 4273d ago )

yes because we totally prefer HD remakes of old games over a new one. *sarcasm*

btw i think its stupid to pay the price of either remakes when you don't even get playable versions of re:coded or 358/2 days. eventually square is just gonna screw the early customers over who bought both HD remakes by releasing a Full Mix version which includes all six of the games and probably birth by sleep too for 60 bucks.

Ex-Bethesda Veteran Explains Why Games Like ES, Fallout & Starfield Will Always Have Loading Screens

IGN : One former Bethesda developer has cautioned that loading screens will probably always be a part of its games because of the way they're designed. Here's why.

Thanks for the insightful information!

Now I wanna see if all those that were complaining about loading screens on Starfield will give a hard pass on both upcoming Bethesda RPGs like TESVI and Fallout 5.

If you can´t stand load screens, stay away from those games. Period!

-Foxtrot50d ago

I don't think you understand the difference between them though and what makes Starfield and TES / Fallout different when it comes to loading screens.

When you're playing TES or Fallout, if you are doing a mission you have the choice to walk to your objective where on your travels you will run into many different encounters getting completely sidetracked, it's fun as it feels like you are exploring the world more. However with Starfield you don't get that choice because you can't walk to a new planet, the loading screen is more mandatory, even the Outer Worlds fell into this issue, so when you are constantly going to space, travelling from planet to planet there's a lot more loading screens involved where it slowly becomes more tedious in comparison.

What Bethesda needs to do is work on reducing the loading screens and fitting more within it. For example when you enter a town in TES it should load the entire town, houses, castles, sewers etc included, same goes for Fallout, take the Vegas Strip in Fallout New Vegas, it was chopped up into multiple segments where going back and forth doing missions become a chore nearer the end.

IAMRealHooman50d ago

if they scaled down the "1000" planets to 10, 4 main hub. 6 unexplored, but actually filled with tings to do and explore, the thing Bethesda used to be good at. People like Obscure thin we shit on Bethesda just to shit on it. No we want better games.

Christopher50d ago

It's a design choice they've chosen. RDR2 kind of proves the whole 'loading interiors' or 'having different events go on' isn't what's stopping it.

crazyCoconuts50d ago

RDR2 didn't have you walk into a massive structure like a Starfield base/facility though, right? I'm sure log cabins are a lot easier to handle

Christopher49d ago

That won't affect the need to load content. That's just static designs with a few interactibles. And did we forget RDR2 has towns you don't load into with multiple buildings, dynamic events, and ties to the world as a whole. You load areas to manage the specific scripting and the number of elements that need tracking constantly in that area. Bethesda designs it so you can leave a trail of cheese wheels from town to town, RDR2 designs it so the world interactions are randomized by a few factors and come to you.

Like I said, it's a design choice.

isarai50d ago

Ok but you can still have more seamless "loading screens" starfield has no excuse for how much its gameplay flow sucks. You're basically saying it will always suck because we don't want to spend the effort on improving that aspect. Hell every open world survival game has object permanence, from valheim to the forest, and that doesn't have tons of loading screens

anast50d ago

These guys/gals are sleazy.

DivineHand12550d ago

I haven't played oblivion as yet but does it have loading screens? No one is talking about it.

Fun fact, the remastered version of days gone still has loading screens. It is not the instant load like you see on PS5 and series titles but you will have to wait a bit to load into certain sections. I am not sure why they didn't polish them out and no one is talking about it.

victorMaje50d ago

Oblivion has loading screens but it’s nowhere near the wait times it used to be (from what I remember) so the whole experience feels a lot better.

Agreed about Days Gone remastered, it definitely feels like it’s mostly a visual & feel (dualsense) remaster without much focus on optimization (I expected no loading times & in some cases I encountered the same kinds of bugs & audio issues that were on PS4).

Still love the game though & I hope the remaster will help pave the way for DG2.

Christopher49d ago

That's not something you can do without remaking the whole game from scratch. It's a remaster, not a Remake. They aren't changing the core code and methods, only updating graphics and using more modern plug-ins for similar graphical enhancements.

To do what you're describing, they would have to do something like what Square did for FFVII Remake. And that was such a huge undertaking that they couldn't do it all at once.

Fallout 4 on Switch 2 seems inevitable, but what about Starfield?

A Fallout 4 Nintendo Switch 2 port seems like an inevitability, but what about other Bethesda RPGs like Starfield.

I think all games will end up on switch from Xbox. MS has embraced going to other platforms now if games aren't doing well on Nintendo MS may be more selective in the future

On playstation they have been quite successful

anast78d ago

I'm not sure too many people want to play Starfield.

Profchaos78d ago

Phils all but confirmed they are going in hard with the switch 2

TheColbertinator78d ago

All are welcome to Switch 2. Microsoft Games Studios is interested in long term profits and market value not petty fanboy thoughts.
