While online preordering is starting to become a widespread practice in Japan, there are still quite a few hardliners that like to take part in the ceremony of standing in line for hours on end in front of their favorite shop to be between the first to bring their favorite game home, or in this case, to put their name down for a PlayStation 4.

No real point, by the time the Japanese get their hands on the PS4, stock in the world would have equalised and supply will be plenty. Which is why I've got mine preordered from the US, if you're going to pay full price, it better be a damned early release.

When I went to the Star Wars Ep 3 Premiere, There was a group that got there at 8am and brought a CRT TV, an Xbox, a stand to sit it all on, 4 lounge chairs, and plugged it all into an outlet right there outside the movie theater.

Never under estimate just how far some people will go. People bring tents to some of these things if they're going to be waiting a long time.

You've never stood in line for the launch of a product or like a black friday sale?

There's the whole social aspect that's involved, you could meet people and add them as friends and have more local friends that like the same console/games as you.
In the case of system launches and even black friday some of these things are limited in supply and if you don't wait in line then you might have to wait weeks or months before you can get the item or just miss out on a great price altogether. Now compare that to people spending double retail cost on getting a sold out product from ebay. Some of the people waiting in these lines have the intent to resale on their minds anyway.

My point is that there are reasons for all this, no need to put people down simply because you don't think they are good enough reasons.

people were saying that about ninty regarding their n64 and gamecube systems. but their ace in the hole has been it's GBA,DS&3DS systems which literally prints money for them.

Talking about the Wii U! It's not going to make sense for Nintendo to dump money into a system consumers stop caring about several months ago. If the PS 4 outsells the Wii U in the first 6 months in Japan I can only see even less third party support, less ttitles getting released, only making the software drought worst. If you don't have a steady stream content to showcase it becomes difficult to keep the consumers interested in your product. If you don't have enough content to effectively market you have to market the product strengths, something Nintendo has failed miserably at.

It's true Wiiu isn't doing well but ninty did this to themselves and people weren't fooled. Wiiu could've been made more powerful but instead they decided to put out a console with just a marginal increase over ps3&360. I hope their next system is true next gen and not dependant on gimmicks like the gamepad. Hopefully their online system and store will be alot better next time around.

Have you watched videos of the upcoming Mario game on Wii-U? It should definitely help them sell a few systems. They just need to keep rolling out their exclusives and they should get better.

Yeah and I was annoyed with all the corny meow sounds Mario was making. If I cared to buy a Wii U, MK8 and Super Smash Brothers are the only games I would consider buying since I enjoyed playing both on the Gamecube. Other then that the Wii U will be the 2nd straight Nintendo system I'm skipping. Kinda sad, a proud Nintendo owner from 1987-2005.

Funny, I have no interest in Mario Kart or Smash Bros. Liked both on gamecube but lost interest since then. Super Mario actually looks fun though, the stage setups, playing with friends in a Mario Party sort of way and the new power-ups.
I'd also buy the Wii-U for a new Zelda, Metroid, Monster Hunter (that's actually new), Pokemon RPG, even a Donkey Kong game. They've got a lot of IPs at their disposal but focus everything on their handheld instead. -_-

The latest stats are well you could say are turning towards younger people actually buying tablets one instead of phones in 2008 48% of young people wanted phones but in 2013 now only 40% of young people want phones the rest want tablet CPUs .
