Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn enjoyed a hugely successful launch despite a number of issues with servers and congestion. Following yesterdays extensive downtime the latest patch has been deployed and includes a number of eagerly awaiting features, most notably the AFK kick timer.
YoshiP, the director and producer of Final Fantasy 14, has apologised for the state of the game at the time of writing.
Do you not see this happening during development? Like, why are we apologizing after the fact instead of stopping it during development?
I was unhappy with DT and have spent far less time in it than any other expansion but it's things like this that makes me respect Yoshi P. It's rare for such a high profile developer to be so candid in his assessment on a live game.
Square Enix released new screenshots of the upcoming patch 7.25 for its popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, including the Occult Crescent.
A Final Fantasy XIV fan has embraced the way of the Warrior by creating an axe-shaped controller for IRL Fell Cleaves.
The congestion issues have mostly been fixed now, so it's not really a big deal.
I want to get it for PS3 since they announced you get to upgrade to PS4 for free, and your characters transfer. But I'm holding off until most of the bugs get ironed out, and I don't have time to jump in right now with GTAV coming out. From what I've seen of the game, it looks great. GiantBomb did a 45 minute gameplay video, and talked about what was good, and what was bad... that video was better than any review.
Too damn bad.
If you think youre gonna be AFK for more than 30 minutes, then do the community a favor and log out. There are other people wanting to get into these servers, who do not want to spend all day in queue. Hence why the auto kick was implemented, in the first place. Those of us who actually PLAY the game, are becoming increasingly irritated by those who just park their avatar and go AFK.
If you need a smoke break, a potty break, need to grab a bite to eat, take a phone call or deal with your kids...then 30 minutes SHOULD be more than enough time, anyway. Anyone who says it takes an hour to find a party with the Duty Finder, is full of crap. Even still, regardless of how long it takes the Duty Finder...you can still run around keeping yourself busy, while the Duty Finder is doing its thing in the background, until you are able to find a party. Theres no reason to just SIT THERE AFK, when theres plenty to be done.
The 30 minute AFK boot is a fair addition. If it turns out to be a deal breaker for some of you and you wish to cancel your subscription and sell your copy or never play it again - GOOD! That just free's up more server space for those of us who dont give a crap and enjoy playing the game.
i've been playing it a good deal and i enjoy it but theres so many people playing it new too mmos. If your a experienced person and you enjoy tank classes wait until the new people wind there self out a bit before takeing on the job. Not worth the headache
I usually never log out since i chat/play/crafting but I usually do for breaks cuz my pc has a 1000 watt power supply lol so just cuz of that I do and well less where and tear on my fans since my breaks tend to be long.. but if SE wasn't so conservative on how big a success FFXIV ARR would have been and has become maybe they would have never had server issues since you prepare for the worst and not half assed, it's like planning for a flood you always prepare for the worst.
But I will say since you can't really sell stuff on your person anymore no "bazaar" no real point in staying logged in afk.
edit: but no matter what the population will drop a lil very soon when the kids play GTA and the 30 free trail is up server load issues will drop dramaticly
