My only issues with the device are that it is only 720p resolution (max output), and it cannot play certain Vita games (touch-heavy). Other than that, I think it's brilliant! Honestly, $99 and you can play Vita games (some) on your TV without having to spend $200+. Especially as a PS4 repeater (of sorts). Instead of having to buy another $400 PS4, I could get this and put it in the bedroom. Granted, it only works if someone isn't using the PS4 in another room, but assuming they're just watching TV, this is an excellent idea.

NewMonday3879d ago

the best thing about it is you get to play the amazing Vita games even if you don't like handhelds or if $200 is to much.

It would seem that Sony has their house in order. I dont care what Pachter says, this is a game changer for the Vita.

720p is pretty good. I understand it also does 1080i but 720p is fine with me. Id like to know if it upscales PSP games?

Chances are it doesnt but it would be nice if it did. Currently i use a PSP GO hooked up with component cables to play my PSP games on a tv. Between the PSP versions the GO is my personal fav because it supports the sixaxis controller via bluetooth.

Before that i was using a PSP 2000. the advantage there was full UMD support but after getting the GO and getting digital versions of some of my favorite games....i just cant play any other way.

Vita tv will do what the GO does AND more. Like playing vita game cards on the tv is what i have been looking forward to since the vita came out. Every psp version since the 2000 had tv out and the vita NOT having it seemed odd but now this makes up for that.

I only have an 8gb mem card in my vita but has it been confirmed if you can swap mem cards like game cards??? Or because of the way the downloaded content is tied to the system...it would prevent the simple pop out from vita, insert to vita tv and play????

And what of system activations? Obviously the vita TV would take up an activation slot in your profile. Right now i have 1 ps3, 1 vita and 2 PSP's.

OH...there is so much potential for this unit but still a few unanswered questions. still getting it though when/if it comes to the US.

sinncross3878d ago

in terms of not being able to play certain psv games... the PS4 is not out until 3 months after this launches in JPN so if the touchpad on the PS4 is used to regulate the touchscreen controls, that wont happen until February.

So... its possible they are just saying taht for now, certain PSV games wont work because there is no way around it with the DS3.

devwan3878d ago (Edited 3878d ago )

@SynGamer It's 1080i maximum.

I could of sworn reading somewhere they can use touch features through an onscreen mouse pointer or something. Obviously it's not the same, or as ideal, as using the Vita itself but I believe there are ways around it. You never know though once the PS4 is out they could piggieback onto the touch pad on the DualShock 4 as an option. Hmm

jonboi243878d ago

Supposedly the on screen mouse pointer would work with the dualshock sticks. I think your suppose to press R3 or L3 to activate the pointers. Not sure if it's true and can't recall where I heard it.

Translate this Japanese FAQ and it says it there. Sony facts! - http://www.jp.playstation.c...

coolasj3878d ago

It does 1080i and the DS4 might help with some of the Touch Heavy games.

I'm glad to hear that they will be patching out touch controls for their first party games like Vita's Uncharted to work with Vita TV. I'm really excited to pick this up since I was in the market for a Roku. Now I'll wait and get a game system and Roku-like device all in one!

Persona 4 Golden here I come!!!

listenkids3878d ago (Edited 3878d ago )

I like the fact you could use this, potentially, as a second PS4 in another room (remote play).

dannylilley3878d ago

I'm not sure if you can use it strictly as a second PS4. You can certainly remote play through your own PS4 but that's only mirroring it really. If you can use it as a second one as well though then that's amazing.

You can however use it as it's own Vita console so if you already have one then you can play one against the other.

jonboi243878d ago

If the remote play works exactly like the way it's been shown with the original Vita then it should work anywhere that has wifi or an Internet connection. The only thing is they will have to patch DS4 connectivity into the Vita TV as it doesn't work out of the box.

jonboi243878d ago (Edited 3878d ago )

I've said this before but if Sony is really smart and certain pieces fall into place, they should market the Vita TV as a cheap tv-box for their potential Internet TV that can play games. Reduce the price of the Vita TV with a subscription to their services (smart if they would do this with the PS4 as well) . This could essentially be the ultimate cord cutting device outside of a computer. Vita TV could be their ultimate Trojan horse to get more Vita in the wild. The more Vita there are out the more it benefits original Vita owners like me. Devs big and small can no longer ignore it. Potential of this device is limitless.

GirlOnFire3878d ago

Gaming affordability at its best. I want one now. I already own Vita but thing is so interesting I need it. ^~^

Original Final Fantasy 7 - Is it Worth Playing in 2024?

Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?

ravens5216d ago

Got to Zacks part in 7 Rebirth. Said f it. Finishing my game in 7 og. Just got to part 2 yesterday. I also got Crisis Core... So it'll be a while before I'm back to Rebirth. I just keep thinking about it too smh, want to get back to playing it. Not till I know Zacks story though. I beat 7 og sooooooo long ago, it's crazy going through it again and remembering things.

MrNinosan16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

Got to Zacks part in Rebirth?
You mean you started the game and turned it off?
The game starts with Zack...

ravens5216d ago

... Really 🤓 lol. His second part, I've played for 80hrs lmao. <---- PS5 Run time, probably not all game time. You guys know how it goes.

VIK212116d ago (Edited 16d ago )

Did you not ever play the OG FF7? After you recruit Vincent, later in the game, disc 3, return to that basement and look at the pod, there's a whole Zack story that'll trigger as a memory.... it's well hidden in the game and a lot of things regarding Zack are cleared up. FF7 Crisis Core is basically an extend feature of that hidden flashback... It took me years to discover it back then lol

MrNinosan16d ago

@ravens52
80 hours in Rebirth by doing everything, and you should've reached Zacks story about 5 times 🤣

ravens5215d ago

Ye I kno that's y I said not all gameplay time. But also I am very anal when it comes to exploring.

ravens5215d ago

Not to mention fighting Titan at his full strength. Hours spent trying still haven't succeeded. Found all 3 ruins but I'ma masochist when it comes to games.

Barlos17d ago

Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

Barlos16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

It always takes me back to Christmas 1997, I got it as a gift and I was blown away when I played it. I couldn't believe games could look that good. The combination of pre rendered backgrounds and FMV really made it stand out. It definitely still has a certain charm that modern games can't replicate.

I can't imagine people will still be talking about Remake and Rebirth in 27 years.

Tapani16d ago

Fully agreed. To me the atmosphere, pacing, gameplay and music are all better than in the remake.

Rebel_Scum17d ago

Yes, play this, skip remake, start rebirth for new players.

I_am_Batman16d ago

Skip Remake? That's terrible advice.

leahcim16d ago

Remake is so amazing, pure FFVII Love, play it on PS5 please! aww the graphics the battles, the music... a dream come true.

Rebel_Scum16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

I disagree Batman
