Xbox One and PS4 launch titles show contrasting philosophies

Both Microsoft and Sony have announced the launch-day titles for their respective consoles, and it’s quite interesting to see just how divergent both the consoles are, from both a philosophical standpoint as well as a demographic one.

The order would be a cool van helsing type of game. I know it will be good because sony santa monica is working on it. they made the beck hack and slash game ever. (god of war series) it would be goddamn interesting to see them expand into a new genre.

The only thing is Sony Santa Monica isn't making the game...it's Ready at Dawn's game. Kind of have to go off the quality of the Portable GOW's and not the full fledged PS3 titles.

The only other console titles they've done is Okami on the Wii and a port of a PSP GOW to PS3.

GOW:COO/GOS were fantastic. And this game, visually, looks like CGI. I think they got this.

i'm pretty sure they worked on all of the PSP GOW games as well (as in the proper PSP games, not ports to PS3).

The portable GoW games were some of the best games on the system, so I don't have many doubts.

Killzone SF, knack drive club, infamoaus, the order final Fantasy XIV RRP Deep Down
that's 7 AAA+ titles
then u get mid-budget like : Shadow of the beast, rime, Every1 going to tthe rapture, drive hill

then a lot more indie titles

finally the biggest F2 P : planetside2, DC, war thunder, warframe and black light R

and a lot more coming soon from ND, SSM, SEJ ..etc

stop the BS x1 line up has nothing on the PS4 line up

What I see is MS has tons more AAA game, while Sony is focusing on indie games.

That isn't a surprise, Sony is strapped for cash and indies are a dime a dosen!

Difference Between sony and MS. Sony is willing to put its money where its mouth is. MS has commitment issues ;-* kind of like wallmart leasing all of there stores so they can close and run on a location without a true investment.

I'll be getting Ryse and KI. The Ps4 actually have some interesting Indie games at start.

I know. The only ones downplaying the awesome looking indie games are well.. you know who. They believe that indies are all cheap, 2D sidescrollers made by weird talentless hacks, when these developers are more creative and full of just as much passion for gaming as the rest of the big guys. Indie will be just as relevant as AAA games this gen, and that's thank's to the influence of the guys who popularised it to begin with, and Sony for embracing them more than anyone else.

I think Sony is focusing on offering the best of both worlds. AAA games (Infamous, Killzone, DriveClub, DCUO, etc.) and great looking indie games.

While I agree VGChartz has their "history" I believe in this case the pre-order numbers they are pooling is something that can be documented/tracked...no? Thus making this article one of the times they can possibly be taken seriously compared to their "random" calling stores and "out of thin air" estimations based on those numbers.

If I'm to be used as an example, I haven't preordered any XBox One games because I will be downloading all of mine. While PS4 users will have to get up to change games because you HAVE to have a disc, I'll quickly switch between games because all my games will be on my hard drive. And before you go saying "I can download all my games on my PS4" then why are there so many preorders for discs? Oh, I forgot, you guys were the ones complaining about the Xbox One policies even though you were never buying One.

Exactly man. I plan on downloading almost all my games. Why wait at midnight in the cold at gamestop when I can just sit in my comfortable living room and download it right at midnight? Digital downloading is the future and it seems some PS4 diehards just are ignoring it because Sony isn't pushing it or are just behind with the times.

I can buy GTA5 digtally now on PS3 as well as many other games that launched DAY 1....Like Madden25 which i bought at Midnight on PS3. A trend that will be continued on PS4.

Well you have to consider that the PS4 is ahead in pre-orders and Killzone is really the only launch game that looks appealing for it and is getting all the hype plus attention.
It really is no surprise that it's ahead.

The Xbox One's exclusive launch line up is so diverse that it's hard for the xbox fans to decide which one to go with.

I think the xb1 has a good exclusive launch line up but its a lineup that wont do that well for the audience MS attracts. I expect most ppl who get an xb1 to be on either cod bf4 or any of the sport games like 2k14 and madden. Those will be the popular games that fly off the shelves. Same with the ps4 but KZ will sell well too probably the only exclusive day 1 to do very well. After that infamous will probably sell well and all the games to follow.

BF4 isnt exclusive and no Ryse a Hack & Slash game which is a genre that doesnt normally do great on xbox and Forza has been in decline Sales wise

Maria did present information and links about MS launch titles, so I wouldn't say it contributed nothing or was off topic. If her comment was spam it should have been marked as such. I don't personally think trolling means to present true information that someone else may not like.

Just my opinion, as is the thought that PS4 has a launch lineup with more variety and a near future with more games, both indie and otherwise.

I think it fits in very well with this article. Examining the games gives everyone a chance of discovering each companies ethos and approach to a new gen. It gives me a greater insight.

Thing is M$ fell off towards the end while Sony continued to bring out new franchises. The last of Us, and soon beyond Two Souls. It will be no different when the new gen starts.

Those indie studios will turn into AAA studios, and Sony is giving alot of love to them. I'm sure the indie studios will return the favor.

I think Sony are doing it right. They've got less exclusives, but more coming over the years. So, you play one or two a year, and wait for the next by playing the indies.
