Hopefully with pay to play on the PS4 this will be a thing of the past.

MidnightProwler3993d ago

Maintenance is a good thing. You can go without online gaming for a few hours.

DragonKnight3993d ago

And not only that but...

"You can still play online if you log in before maintenance begins."

I mean the people complaining about this are pretty sad. I'd rather Sony do small maintenance many times a year, then have to do a big maintenance because they only release big patches once every 6 months to a year and don't know what the exact problem is. People act like gaming online is their blood and they'll die without it. They wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes during gaming's glory days.

trafalger3993d ago

"People act like gaming online is their blood and they'll die without it"

what does this even mean? you sound like you're in damage control. if the downtime doesn't bother you why do you feel the need to try and calm people? oh that's right, this is sony. where any shred of negativity has to be ceased before the flames begin. amazing how you don't take this same calm and reasonable attitude towards other companies. i'm sure when sony announced they will begin charging on the ps4 you tried to isolate the damage the best you could.

DragonKnight3993d ago (Edited 3993d ago )

@trafalger: Interesting. You go around and ask people, me specifically, why I say certain things and that I should just stop and leave people alone because they'll like what they like or whatever ridiculously hypocritical reason you come up with, yet you've been obsessed with me for quite some time to the point where you follow me around, criticizing anything I say no matter what it is (and also proving you lack basic comprehension skills), and stalking my comments to look for more opportunities to do so all while saying you "don't care what you(me)say."

So basically it's a problem for me to say this that or the other, but it's not a problem for you to do it because you don't like me and that gives you a reason to right?

And then you make incorrect assumptions about me that you know are incorrect given how you've stalked my comments and posted links to them whenever they back up your claim. So trafalger, explain to all of us here how your logic works. How in one breath you can claim to not care about what I say, yet appear everywhere I go after having stalked my comment history page to post links that you misunderstand and misuse, in an attempt to change something after you have repeatedly said that nothing anyone says here is going to change anything? I'm interested in your backwards explanation to that.

And since you're incapable of understanding, or commenting effectively on the topic, what "People act like gaming online is their blood and they'll die without it" means is that the people complaining about maintenance being done on PSN act like it's the end of the world and they can't enjoy gaming without online. But seeing as how you're likely one of those individuals, I wouldn't expect you to understand that online gaming hasn't been around as long as offline gaming.

trafalger3993d ago

"So basically it's a problem for me to say this that or the other, but it's not a problem for you to do it because you don't like me and that gives you a reason to right?"

where did i say i don't like you? you are the one who started this by sending me a private pm.

"And then you make incorrect assumptions about me"

such as?

"my comment history page to post links that you misunderstand and misuse, in an attempt to change something after you have repeatedly said that nothing anyone says here is going to change anything?"

i provide links, so anyone can see for themselves. i don't tamper with your own comments. you've made your own bed.

"I wouldn't expect you to understand that online gaming hasn't been around as long as offline gaming."

neither have cellphones to rotary dial phones. do you ever have a point or are you just constantly on damage control?

people expect a reliable service. that's not to suggest sony doesn't provide one. but when your cell-service goes down people will talk about it. same thing with online gaming. just because you may prefer offline gaming doesn't mean we haven't evolved to a connected world now that people assume should just work.

again your self-centered views do not reflect others peoples needs. lots of people watch netflix on consoles, you may only want to just play games. different views but what we don't need are apologists who seem to be very quick to defend one company while being even quicker to blast other companies anytime something goes awry. that's the issue with you, not with me, and most people who don't have this segregated attitude you possess.

DragonKnight3993d ago

@trafalger: Before I get to the response, your entire comment is an evasion, takes points way out of context, and again shows your lack of basic comprehension. You failed to answer the basic question that I asked and decided instead to focus on quotes that have nothing to do with the underlying issue and you even got that wrong. So let's get to it.

"where did i say i don't like you? you are the one who started this by sending me a private pm."

You don't have to say you don't like me. It's written all over every comment you make in response to me, or as a reply to someone else about me. The PM I sent you was the result of, and I'm going to use your own tactic against you, this comment which had nothing to do with the topic of the blog you posted it in and was literally just about your mission to come after me. Because blog comments don't work the same as normal comments, it's the comment you made 10d ago starting with "I popped in quickly" in reply to maniacmayhem.

http://n4g.com/user/blogpos...

That comment you posted was made a full week after everyone stopped commenting on the blog because it was out of site. What was the purpose in that exactly? To show frienship? To foster discussion? Nope, it was designed specifically to attack, so I rightly PM'ed you about your obsession with me, which didn't sit well with you so you blocked me.

"such as?"

Right here: "i'm sure when sony announced they will begin charging on the ps4 you tried to isolate the damage the best you could."

For a comment stalker, you sure dropped the ball on this one. Where before you would link to the comment to prove your point, thereby showing your obsession, now you've done no such thing because it doesn't exist. Once again I call into question your reasoning for following around someone you claim to not care about what they say.

"neither have cellphones..."

Now that we're on the topic, your comment is irrelevant and has nothing to do with the discussion.

"people expect a reliable service..."

There is a difference between expecting a reliable service, and complaining about the maintenance needed to make that service reliable to the point where your complaints really look like you can't live for a couple of hours without online gaming.

The console still works perfectly fine, which is where your cellphone analogy falls flat as well. If phone service goes down, you can't use your phone for anything. If PSN goes down, you can still game the way everyone has gamed for 20 years before online gaming was prevalent. That's the point.

"again your self-centered views do not reflect others peoples needs...

And here once again you lack basic comprehension and go on an attack, accusing me of having self-centered views for making a basic, purely logical, common sense statement. The complaints made against PSN maintenance are completely illogical as you are not prevented from using the console for its intended purpose. To want a reliable service is to need maintenance to ensure that reliability. Complaining about said maintenance is childish and an exercise in futility.

What's more, if said maintenance were not performed and more serious problems arose, then irrational complaints would be made about the lack of maintenance to maintain a reliable service. So here we see a lose/lose situation which I confronted with common sense that you took issue with for literally no other reason than your own obsession with me.

In closing, explain your double standard and hypocrisy in following me around.

XBL does the same thing... Maintenance is Maintenance and when it needs doing, It needs doing!

Everything needs Maintenance my friend ;)

XboxFun3993d ago

It seems PS3 goes down or updates so much more than MS.

I agree Gravelord, now that Sony is charging for online hopefully the amount of downtime and updates will be reduced.

KwietStorm_BLM3993d ago

The servers couldn't handle all the megaton.

FITgamer3993d ago

Fortunately maintenance almost never prevents me from gaming online.

Master-H3993d ago

Damn, i was hoping to play online a lil on Thursday after an exam i have, guess it's going to be another split screen session with the boyz

Does this mean that Palworld is getting an anime?

Abnor_Mal16d ago

Crazy that they’ve formed a partnership of sorts, but the game itself still haven’t been released on PlayStation

badz14916d ago

It's still in Early Access. If it ever goes gold, there will definitely be a PS5 version, might even be a PS4 version too

Abnor_Mal16d ago

I still have no clue what this game is all about, to be honest.

badz14916d ago

@Abnor_Mal

If games like ARK is not to your liking, then Palworld wouldn't be your cup of tea either...I think.

New Sony Controller May Let You Draw Your Own Buttons Using Conductive Ink

Sony has published a new patent about a controller that can be completely personalized by a user, including its shape and layout.

TFJWM31d ago

It is just a patent if it is new tech you file it

S2Killinit30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Dont get me wrong, I love that Sony does these research into new tech and all, after all it led to something as fun as the Dualsense, but im just asking why this particular tech would be useful in any way.

Profchaos30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Interesting idea likely something that will never actually be produced but Sony's simply securing the paten

Profchaos30d ago

Common practice really so many companies pattern troll because they either intend to make a product or just want to hold onto the rights of the idea there's some insane ones out there especially at the dawn of the internet.

You can have no intent to use it but this is just saying you thought of it first

kylegeorge8830d ago

yeah no, the controllers need the hall effect before investing more time and money into quirks.

BlackDoomAx30d ago

But how will they sell as many controllers if they do that?

fsfsxii30d ago

Maybe consider your personal hygiene before blaming someone else for your controller defecting

DustMan30d ago

I doubt @FSFSXII even knows what hall effect is. What a turd.

y2mate30d ago

great idea, but will it fully distributed to other continent ?
