Isaac Wagner: "Gone Home is still an important game, like Proteus before it, in furthering the goal of strengthening the importance of environmental storytelling and free exploration in videogame narratives, and indeed I generally enjoyed the sensation of wandering around the house. Indeed it's also clear that a lot of hard work and heart was put into the creation of Gone Home by The Fullbright Company. Unfortunately this house just didn't have that special something and unique spirit to make it the home that I was hoping for."
Dave writes: "If you’re a fan of walking simulators, then the name probably sticks in the throat, but let’s ‘own it’ and chuck the best and mightiest of the genre into a bear pit and let them have at it! Hoo-rah! As with most genre lists, there’s some controversy about what does or doesn’t constitute a walking simulator. Dialogue and navigation is preferred over puzzles and more intensive interaction like combat or QTEs. Jumping/crouching is positively frowned upon. Strap on your hiking boots and let’s ramble!"
