Keeping it in every box will ensure its supported over the lifetime of the console. Microsoft says they are still 100% committed to Kinect, they don't want to fracture the fanbase but honestly don't believe them right now until we get to launch with it in every box. If so, I'm in if not I'd be pretty disappointed with the new X1 just from a vision perspective, I still feel like X1 will have the games I care about the most but settling for a status quo xbox-like-ps4 would be a worst case scenario for me.

As far as what Microsoft says? I think they have proven themselves untrustworthy at best. Personally I would say flat out LIARS but I am trying to be nice here.

MS has very little credibility left. How can we trust a company that doesn't trust their initial vision for next gen? They are literally ALL over the place now.

A little more on topic:
Sony's devs are a given as to why this question is silly but it shouldn't even have been asked in the first place as to why consumers would want a PS4 if Kinect is no longer a requirement for the XBOX ONE.

The better question should be are you still willing to pay $499 for a console with an additional device most of their core consumers didn't want included in the 1st place?

If MS keeps the price @ $499 with Kinect included, when it's now no longer required, it will be worse than if they just never made it not mandatory in the first place. I don't know who is more confused. MS or the consumers trying to understand what in the hell MS are doing with the XBOX ONE when they themselves appear to have no idea.

To be frank UC2 blew me away, but they are all great, TLOU is amazing, GOW3 was amazing, like the franchise, KZ(imo) is a mix bag of other better shooters which is my favorite genre, off the top of my head that's all I've played on my ps3, as I absolutely hate jrpg's and not a fan of Heavy Rain. I really all depends on how you look at it. Lets say you want a console for you and the family and there are 4 of you in the family. Now you want a core game so lets say Drive club and Forza is the choice. Then You want a dance game for the family so we just say just dance is the game for this. Now the xbox one will be £428.95 Then you need to get Just dance for £49.99 and Forza is £49.99 and you also need gold to play on line £36.98 so this will = £565.91 (Zavvi.com Prices)

Now for the PS4 you will need to spend £348.95 on the console then £44.99 on the camera then £25.66 x 4 for move controller (Amazon price as not on Zavvi) Plus Playstation + £36.99 (Amazon price again as not on Zavvi) then your games Driver Club £49.99 and Just Dance £49.99 this comes to £633.55 which would make the PS4 £67.64 more expensive to use for core and family games.

Im not saying one is better than the other but it all depends on how you look at it on which is better value for money.

it would be a moot point if you were able to access all of the external storage. they've just said, as far as i know, that it "supports" external media. i have not seen anything indicating that if you plug in a larger external drive that you have access to the whole drive. there's also been no indication that you can install, and run games from the external device. X360 also "supports" external media, but you only have access to (i think) 32GB.

so if it's anything like the X360, plugging in, say, a 1TB drive will be utterly useless if you can only use a fraction of the space.

Terrible idea. Not only would that require M$ to formally admit they were screwing over consumers (who would buy from a company that openly admitted they were trying to scam you?!), but it would kill the whole point of the Xbox One. It was meant to be the one device you need. I don't agree with it, but it makes more sense than the 720, which basically means they're not progressing in any way.

Sadly or thankfully, people tend to quickly forget when push comes to shove. M$ really just has to beat Sony on the price, since they can't really win people bad with the negative press, higher prices, and dubious future. I am not a fan of Crytek games. Yes they always look very good but they have never nailed the gameplay at all. I put Crysis 2 after an hour or two because it was boring. Crytek seem to try and push graphics but they never have worked on the one area they are poor at. Gameplay is so important

$100 for me is a lot. To a lot of consumers an extra $100 is nothing, but I like to save as much money as possible. Even then I'm not interested in many MS franchises atm, still a little too FPS friendly.

I probably wouln't get either for quite awhile, so by the time I'm interested I can re-evaluate the current franchise. Overall Sony fits my gamer style a little more, plus the $100 difference and a slight mistrust of MS atm.

I'm still going to get a PS4 because, for me, it's a better platform. It has the games I want to play, the features I want to use, and the friends I want to play with. PS+, Remote Play, and saving $100 are just a bonus for me. A big bonus.

Regardless of what Microsoft fixes or adds to the Xbox One, first impressions are everything. They've shown me what's important to them, and just how unimportant their fans are.

The Xbox One will not fail. It will still sell well, and it will still be a success. I just won't be contributing to that success. If I get a second console it will be a Wii U once the price has come down and there are more games I want to play, such as Monolith's successor to Xenoblade which is looking pretty great.

If you like the features and games of the PS4, get a PS4. If you like the features and games of Xbox One, buy an Xbox One. It's not rocket science. To me, the PS4 looks like it has the potential to be the greatest games console of all time, and I'd imagine many others feel the same way. It's powerful, has lots of great features, a great looking controller and console, several fantastically talented teams working on games for it, PS+, Free to play games like Planetside 2 and very competively priced. I reckon Titanfall will be on PS4. Killer Instinct was never a top drawer fighter. Just something being clung to. Forza is more of the same but prettier( I thought this was frowned upon), Dead Riding series is over rated and Ryse looks pretty but boring. Poor man's God of War.
This is why Xbox doing well is do upsetting to many, no imagination on games and fans of the system couldn't give a stuff. Making the world of games bland.

Of coarse I choose Sony and ps4 , they make the best hardware and software made by people that specialize in entertainment. I also love mmos which microsoft policies seem to shun them away ( for now till they do another 180) . Plus I see the Touchpad doing more to further different types of innovative gameplay then kinect will ever do plus we still have the ps eye if we choose to buy it. Whenever I see the people behind sony and the ps4 they always present themselves as real gamers and game developers who are passionate at what they do , noone from microsoft has every given me that impression of having a true gaming passion . I personally hope the days of the ps2 reign come with the ps4 , at least back then when nintendo and MS were largely beneath sony they actually tried making innovative and unique games that tried to grab the gamers attention . I just feel like they got a taste of the good life for a while this gen and it inflated their egos to make a bunch of horrible decisions tied with a bunch of gimmicks . Sony's still all about gaming to it's core first and foremost. You can build peripherals around a game to enhance that certain type of game but building games just to support a peripheral just seems like a bad investment . I just want my core gaming package and everything else I can buy afterwards if I so chose. just my personally opinion though :p

Yes i do 'need' a PS4... MS are economical chameleons and their insecure 180 decisions reflect on what the numbers are saying, and not what the consumers are saying.

It's just funny how many of these 180's are copycatting the PS4 and there's no denying it, and that they are following suit to level up before launch.

Which is still one of the biggest reasons to get a PS4 at launch over the X1. This unplugging of Kinect and other news of turning the X1 into a dev kit still does NOTHING for me as a consumer. Price was the biggest factor for me when they announced the X1 and still will be the main reason I choose a PS4.

Since when did gamers get so conscienceless when debating which game console manufacture is better? Everyone seems so quick to resort to arguments against MS when it comes to ethics, it makes me wonder how many are actually serious, and how many are just using it to strengthen to their viewpoint.

I'd imagine such noble, mature values would seep into other aspects of these people's personalities, but for many, I simply don't see it. I see anger, hatred, and even ignorance in post after post where this "moral high ground" stance is presence, working as sort of a direct contradiction in itself.

I wouldn't be surprised if many of the "noble freedom fighters" are the same people that ruin the fun of other's in games, by griefing, shit talking and teabagging. I find it both funny and disheartening that a person can come here and spew obvious bias and hate towards one side of the argument, and just throw in some "untrustowrthy" rhetoric and go on how they're not gonna support a company like that, and walk away with a ton of agrees and a "well said" bubble...

I hear constant outcries about the recent changes in policy by MS exhibits "un-trustworthiness" on their end, with some going far enough to call them flat out liars, but I'm not sure "untrustworthy" is the proper term. Yes, MS has said a lot of things, just to change their minds later and say another, but this is more of an an example of being indecisive, not untrustworthy.

If MS never told anyone about the changes until after consumers bought their product, or just let them find out for themselves, that may be an untrustworthy act, but informing the public of changes before it they had a chance to effect anyone? No, not really seeing it. As it is now, their product hasn't even been released yet, and the details surrounding it not finalized, so at this point, I see little harm in tweaking, fine tuning or even making massive changes to the formula.

Of course, I'm sure people will try to bring up past examples of where MS truly was untrustworthy in an attempt to defend their claims, but bringing up the past to validate the future/present, isn't really a strong argument, especially when the past actions are not even what the current debate is about.
